Folks, it's official; Katamari Damacy's sequel is coming stateside. And it's getting a new title (http://ps2.ign.com/articles/607/607361p1.html).
Discuss.

Gotta love that title.
I'll be interested in seeing how the co-op mode turns out. Outside of that, it will likely be the same game with new levels and new music, but that's fine by me. The basic game is still fresh and unique enough to be really fun, and hopefully Namco won't go sequel-crazy and ruin that freshness. I'm hoping that the US release will be at a reduced price again (though it might not be, now that they know they have a niche hit on their hands), and that there will be more copies available (which is very likely).

I'd like to see a longer game this time. While the first one was fun, it was over quite quickly.
and more of the king of all Cosmos, he rules http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/Conekiller/KingofAllCosmos.jpg
... I still need to play the first one. D=

Co-op mode intrigues me the most. Will there be internet play perhaps and possibly this feature will be on the DS version.

Will there be internet play perhaps and possibly this feature will be on the DS version. It's actually sounding like we might not be getting the DS version (http://www.pressthebuttons.com/2005/03/emkatamariem_em.html). Or the Xenosaga and Baten Kaitos DS games. Why? Because these are all gamer's games. Nintendo made the baffling decision to market the DS as a system for "non-gamers", to reach a larger audience. And all the while short their longtime dedicated fans. Way to go, Big N.
Also, it's not so much a different title as it is a translated one... the original (Minna Daisuki Katamari Damashii) translates to "Everybody Loves Katamari Damacy", and well, I'm guessing this is to distance it from a certain simarly named sitcom.

Practicly all of those Namco games I would have bought....atleast they'll be on PSP soon enough

atleast they'll be on PSP soon enoughHuh? Seeing as how the hardware are so different between the two, not to mention anything Touch Screen isn't really exactly port-able... I don't see that happening. You might see the franchises, but not these games. Though, Katamari on PSP would be awkward, with just the one analog stick. The touch screen would be an awesome interface for that series.
It's not only Namco that seems to be doing this either - which sucks, because maaan, Goemon (http://http://www.konami.jp/gs/game/goegoe/ds/image/movie.html) looks pretty awesome the DS.

That article states that they "aren't scheduled" for U.S. release, which doesn't really mean anything.
That, and it's just some guy's blog, with no source information.

It is speculation, though, since not having confirmation yet doesn't necessarily mean we won't be getting it for sure. But why would these companies confirm the games that fit NoA's description, and not say anything of the others? Just food for thought - if I wanted to make a scene I'd have made a new thread about it. Instead I was just warning that we might not want to get our hopes up just yet.

The fortunate thing is that the DS has no region locking, so importing is easy enough.
Where are his linked sources? I don't see any specific ones, just vague links to announcements and lists that say nothing about his assertion.

Me = Confused. Looking at the current library of games in Japan and the ones released here, I don't think someone that is a non gamer would pick up a majority of those titles. Wouldn't adding the features like the PSP have to attract the non gamer? Whatever Iwata.

Would that be the media feature? Because that's been added to the DS in Japan in the form of a relatively inexpensive accessory that allows video and audio playback from SD cards. Indications are that it may be released in the U.S., as well.

Awesome news. I'm looking forward to co-op.
And Coney, as soon as I saw this thread, I knew I'd see you in here. But... that picture... That king... he scares me sometimes.
