Anybody remember this Yosemite Sam outing...??

... A psa (public service announcement) supposedly from 1979 called "Protect These Critters". An environmental piece of propanganda featuring Sam with what looked to be an eagle...

(The real Yosemite Sam would have done fiendish, horrible things to any "critter" landing on his arm...)

Where did you come across this bit of info? Was this PSA widely released or shown on TV? :confused:

I've never heard of it either, but I find that picture disturbing. It might just be his "cute" multicolored outfit and the expression on his face... And Sam likes to blast critters, not save them from hunters and global warming.

Yeah, very out of character for Sam. I think a good PSA cartoon should have Sam blasting at the forest animals, and Bugs Bunny showing him what harm it does. Sure it sounds cheesy, but as long as it gets the message through.

Sam: Yeah, I guess you're right, varmint! But ya didn't say nothin' about shootin' rabbits...!!

I have seemingly VERY VAGUE memories of this psa. Sam was shown walking down the street of a Western town (not on the walk, but IN THE STREET, should have had hoofprints across his head by the end of the thing!). Anyway an eagle/hawk lands on his arm while he talks, blah, blah, blah. I can't remember anything else of it. A number of cels (and drawings) from the same few seconds started turning up on Ebay about a year ago. One seller has come up with the title and supposed date of the oddity in question.

(Lately, cels of Sam as Cheerios gladiator have been turning up as well... Must be the weather;))
