Anyway...

Big Guy & Rusty. Dunno if anyone else caught this great show (lord knows no neilsen families saw it) but this show was really good IMHO. It had that goofy godzilla monster movie feel, with great writing, unique situations, and Fox's biggest complaint was that there was too much violence. Apartenly Robots blowing up robots is violence, but digital monsters killing other digital monsters is ok. *sigh*

I have the first two issues of the Miller scribed "Big Guy and Rusty" comic. Good stuff. Not my cup 'a tea, but enjoyable in a semi-spoof, knowingly cheesey, overly chatty sort'a way. I only caught a few eps of the show. I think the subject matter would have to be kiddiefied too much top translate to a saturday morning animated series. The audience was teens and adults, while the time-slot was ruled by pre-teen fare, ala Pokemon.

My pick wouid be Freakazoid! Very funny show. I'm sure almost everyone here is farmilliar with it. And I've raved about it before, ;) so.

Undergrads
Downtown (a pox on MTV - or Empty V - for pulling the plug on these two terrific, laugh-your-butt-off programs)

Undergrads was the best MTV animated series since Daria. I really hope somebody else picks them up.

I'd like to add Mission Hill and Oblongs to the list. Then there's Clerks. With any luck, we can see the ex-WB toons on Adult Swim. Baby Blues is going there, and I am hoping Oblongs and Mission Hill won't be too far behind. All I can say is THANK GOD for Adult Swim. Now if they could only pick up MTV's ex-toons, which they should be able to seeing that the same company (viacom) owns all the channels (with the exception of Clerks, but hopefully Kevin Smith will be able to negotiate the right deal with the right channel soon enough).

HUGBEES!!!

And yeah, Big Guy was a great show. I would have loved a second season.

But, didn't Freakazoid have more than just one season? I seem to remember it as having two.

Frekazoid was on two seasons. Here's something to add to the list, Sam & Max: Freelance Police.

Big Guy and Rusty, certainly. Fox never gave the thing a chance...

The Freak did indeed have two seasons, but it could have still used a few more.

It's possible underGRADS will be picked up for a season two up here on Teletoon - since the show is Canadian. I wish we got to see more of Rusty & Big Guy. Quite arguably THE best cartoon FOX had on since the loss of B:TAS. The show was witty and characters instantly likeable. Also, Canada will be getting a second season of The Ripping Friends even if the US doesn't, so that' sorta cool. I would also like ot have seen more Mission Hill. I got to see the complete fist season and it was just great. There was definatly potential for much, much more if this show. Silver Surfer desvered a second season too.

Big guy and Rusty was a pretty fun show to tell you thr truth, they showed it again over the summer and I had fun watching it. And Big Guy had a bunch of really good lines, Rusty could get annoying but oh well.

But what about the Legend of Calamity Jane even all these years after I'm still trying to figure out what killed that show. The animation was sharp, and the premise seemed solid as well.

If we're counting anime then I really think that Big O needs to be finished, they ended it on this huge cliff hanger.

Oh how I miss Big Guy and Rusty! Hey, do you guys remember a show that aired on Fox Kids for only about four episodes. It was called Xyber 9, and I rather liked it. I was really just starting to get into, when Fox's curse hit, and it was canceled.

what about sonic SATam?

That show had at least four seasons before Power Rangers forced it to be canned. I HATE Power Rangers.

BTW, this is my 800th Post! :)

CALAMITY JANE lasted three weeks. They showed 2 episodes and repeated the pilot. They hyped it all through the summer and it looked really good. I watched one episode and it wasn't bad at all. Aside from the annoying old grandpa character - the show was good. All 13 episodes aired up here in Canada until just a year or two ago. It had a great timeslot ater BATMAN/SUPERMAN and before MIB. The show looked very good and then...that was it.

Nope, SatAM only had two seasons, and ended on a cliff-hanger of sorts. Argh...

I remember SatAM a little bit, but I don't remember watching it too much. The cliffhanger was answered on a site I saw a few weeks ago. It was one of the creators of the show that said who those red, evil eyes were. I think it was Dr. Robotnic's nephew that was on before.

Roman Legion

Actually, they claimed the red eyes belonged to Ixis Naugus, which actually doesn't make any sense continuity-wise, if you think about it... (Snively, who you were thinking of, walked out just *before* the red eyes).

Xyber 9, Cyber Six, Silver Surfer, (and these last two showing I might have bad taste in Entertainment) RoboCop: Alpha Commando, and the Avengers.

Calamity Jane!!!!!!
I watched that show, I liked it too, what ever happened to it??

I also nominate an HBO show called Spicy City, like tales from the crypt only with sexual plots (hey it's HBO). It was produced by Ralph Bakshi, you know Wizards, the Hobbit, etc.
It was cartoons for adults.

WB just cancelled the show. They just took iofthe air to add an extra half hour of BATAMN/SUPERMAN. They said "it'll be back later in the season". But - well - it never came back.

I'm glad they dumped THE AVENGERS. It had poor animation and they put it in the future when they shouldn't have. The group is fine enough as is - they didn't need to "Beyond" it to make it more enjoyable. I wish we got more SILVER SURFER, though. The cliffhanger was the desctruction of the universe. I would've like to see how that panned out...

D'oh, Well, I think the third season would of been better if it had been Metal Sonic and not Ixis Naugus. But we will never see now. :(

Well, obviously the universe was destroyed. How else do you explain the lack of episodes? :D

Let's see. I can think of several good shows that had more than one season, but deserved more: Gargoyles, Superman: TAS, Exo-Squad, Batman Beyond... :(

So I guess I'll second Big O. A fine show that stands well on it's own, go buy the DVDs people. My understanding is that Big O was basically a pet project by some people at Sunrise and they'd love to do more, but a second season was never greenlit. There's always the manga (some minor differences exist between it and the show, from what I'm told, but at least it's a continuation of sorts).

It's probably safe to say that if Justice League doesn't get a second season heads will roll at CN. :)

Look --> :o a new smile. :)

I'd prefer Metal Sonic as well, but if there were only a third season, I don't think I'd much complain either way. ;-) I'll admit the show had a few minor flaws, but it kept getting better overall, especially during the 2nd season. It was enjoyable while it lasted. =/
