Does anyone remember the Star Wars spin off cartoons Droids or Ewoks from the 80s. Droids featured the pre Luke Skywalker adventures of C-3PO abd R2-D2, while Ewoks of course features the Ewoks. Did any one think those cartoons were good or not?

If you like SW and don't mind 80s cartoons cheesyness then you'll enjoy them. They are def. aimed for kids, but i like them.

I remember watching droids in the 80s. I rember they went against space pirates, the Empire and some green guys in three different arcs.

They were pretty good. The animation, story designs, art direction, music and sound effects were very good considering it was SatAM animation. Sometimes Ewoks could get a little preachy and one might consider it cheesy but they were good quality toons overall.

Droids had some good mini-arcs, where C-3PO and Artoo would change owners with every arc conclusion, it was a lot more consistent than Ewoks, which never bothered with the Empire until the final episode written by Paul Dini.

Best of the lot I saw, back when Sci-Fi ran these, was the Boba Fett episode of Droids. Cheesy 80s toon with an ending dipped in black humor. So glad I taped it.

I saw both as a kid on Saturday mornings; recall liking Ewoks somewhat more than Droids for some reason...

They weren't too good, but I'd watch them again.

That makes sense, Ewoks still aired in synidcation for a while after Droids stopped repeating, mostly because the episodes were pretty stand-alone and not too dependent on continuity.

Whilst it's true Ewoks was straight forward and rarly touched on aspects of the Star Wars universe, Droids was FAR superior to Ewoks in terms of being more faifthful to the Star Wars premise of long storylines that took more than one episode.

That and I saw the shows first-run... :-)

I always wondered why Droids never came back in repeats but I've seen Ewoks on Sci-fi, Usa cartoon express, and Boomarang, but never Droids.
