View Full Version : Bugs Bunny debut cartoons: my review

Yes, I have now watched all of them. The debut cartoons and the others. This is a great cartoon series! Here are my reviews of the debut films. I can't believe I stayed up til 2 in the morning to watch the end of them, but I did. Well worth it to see every Bugs cartoon ever.
From Hare to Eternity
1997 - Chuck Jones
This is great! I liked this film a lot...except for one problem....Yosemite Sam is badly voiced. I think it's the same guy from "Carrotblanca",except he did it better in that one. At some point they must have forgotten that Yosemite Sam has a Texas accent. Jones did a great job though, why was it never released theatrically? It's better than any of those other "new" ones.
Hare Splitter
1948 - Friz Freleng
This is a great cartoon. I like the exploding carrot bit, but someone mentioned that there was more to it, and Bugs was supposed to say "What a woman!" at the end. Aside from that, good film.
My Bunny Lies Over the Sea
1948 - Chuck Jones
This one is funny. I particularly liked "Look at that horrible monster attacking that poor old lady!"
Hare Do
1949 - Friz Freleng
I'd seen this before. It's not too far off from "Stage Door cartoon", but I don't think it's as good.
Bowery Bugs
1949 - Art Davis
It's too bad Arthur Davis did not do any more Bugs-as-star films, because this one is excellent. It's well animated, funny, and it's much like the early McKimson Bugs Bunny films.
The Grey Hounded Hare
1949 - Robert McKimson
I remembered this one, but it had been a long time. Bugs falling for a dog-race rabbit is funny, but not farfetched (remember "Hair Raising Hare" and "Operation Rabbit"?). Those dogs are really mean. Strange for a McKimson cartoon, it's usually Jones' films with really mean adversaries.
Rabbit Hood
1949 - Chuck Jones
This was also good. It seems like a precursor to "Robin Hood Daffy", but is very different, because Bugs is not Robin Hood but, well, himself. Also, the "sherriff" was creatively drawn, and "little John" was a caricature of Chuck Jones.
Hurdy Gurdy Hare
1950 - Robert McKimson
Ahh, Bugs meets our friend Gruesome Gorilla again. Much better meeting too! This is a lot better than "Gorilla My Dreams", and it sort of echoes the other organ-grinder cartoon, "Canary Row".The gorilla bashing windows is a nice comic touch. I believe the song that hypnotizes the gorilla is called "organ grinders swing".
Mutiny on the Bunny
1950 - Friz Freleng
"He's not long fer this world!" Well, he's better off than that, but this is the weakest of the Bugs/Sam pirate toons. "Captain Hareblower" and "Buccaneer Bunny" are better. Not that this is bad, it's just not as good as the others. The "captain" jokes are funny, as is the ending.
Homeless Hare
1950 - Chuck Jones
I like this one. That construction guy has the same voice as the "Chow Hound". Who is that? It doesn't sound like Mel Blanc. Anyway, Bugs Bunny's revenge is well-deserved here.
8 Ball Bunny
1950 - Chuck Jones
This one cracked me up. A lot funnier than "Frigid Hare". "Ooh, I'M, DYIN'!" is a funny line. Note that the penguin does not cry ice cubes here, because he's in warmer weather. Also, notice that hobo...he seems to be a takeoff on some animator...he's not too far off from the one in "Wackiki Wabbbit". Bugs' reggae singing is hysterical. Bonus points for Bogey panhandling for money.
Print Schedule Hillbilly Hare
1950 - Robert McKimson
THIS is FUNNY. When this repeats, you guys HAVE to see this one. That's all I'm gonna say. Lets all square dance!
Hare We Go
1951 - Robert McKimson
This is about the era that Robert McKimson's Bugs really hit his stride. This IS Bugs Bunny. Why he goes back to Columbus' time here I'll never know, but it's a damn funny film.
Bunny Hugged
1951 - Chuck Jones
It's "Rabbit Punch" meets wrestling. It's on par, if not better, than that. The dynamite-stick arm is a funny gag.
French Rarebit
1951 - Robert McKimson
This one is good too, although it's not at all funny until Bugs tries to make "Louisiana Bayou Backbay Bunny Borderlay a la Antoine."
His Hare Raising Tale
1951 - Friz Freleng
Ahhhhh! A CLIPSHOWWWWW! GEt it AWAYYYYYY! Actually, If I were going to watch a clip toon,, this would be it. Also, the footage used in the clips is better-looking than the actual cartoons, possibly because they must have used the negatives.
14 Carrot Rabbit
1952 - Friz Freleng
A great Yosemite Sam cartoon. I will say that the funniest part is the end, but if you haven't seen it I won't give it away.
Foxy By Proxy
1952 - Friz Freleng
It's "Of Fox and Hounds" remade with Bugs. It's funny, but it has no point...why does Bugs WANT to be chased?
The Hasty Hare
1952 - Chuck Jones
Marvin Martian at his best, and I think the 2nd and last K( cartoon. Buy why do they remove the turkey farm joke? We lose an important gag...the scientist is actually a caricature of Friz Freleng, "I. Frizby."
Oily Hare
1952 - Robert McKimson
Being from Texas, I enjoyed seeing Bugs in it. Dallas, yet, which is less than an hour from Fort Worth. A little stereotyped, but it's not stereotyped that bad for its era. There indeed was an oil boom in Texas in the 50's. Trouble was, it made the Dallas people wealthy, but most of the drilling was further west, toward Midland, Abilene, etc. But I can assure you, the gushers were black, not orange.
Hare Lift
1952 - Friz Freleng
Probably one of the most-reused films, I've seen clips of this all over the place. It's still funny. Poor Bugs, he's always in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Forward March Hare
1953 - Chuck Jones
Unusual for 1953, since by then they pretty much had stopped making war cartoons. Still, it's a great Chuck Jones film that I'd never seen. The missile-as-a-hammer gag is good...but wouldn't Bugs know how dangerous that is? Remember "Falling Hare"?
Upswept Hare
1953 - Robert McKimson
This is an excellenty drawn cartoon. The backgrounds really stand out. Since when did Elmer live in a penthouse? I thought he owned a mansion and a yacht.
Hare Trimmed
1953 - Friz Freleng
Possibly one of the oddest Bugs cartoons, but funny. Glad to see it uncut and in whole form, too, I'd only ever seen it in a movie clip.
Robot Rabbit
1953 - Friz Freleng
I like this cartoon. Notice that in this era, when Friz Freleng uses Elmer Fudd, he never uses him traditionally...it's usually with a technological gizmo or an unusual situation. The robot is a good one, and I think it's a better copy than the one from ABC...noticed a few edits that I think must have been restored.
No Parking Hare
1954 - Robert McKimson
It's "Homeless Hare" redone by McKimson. Just as funny, IMO.
Devil May Hare
1954 - Robert McKimson
This one is the first Taz cartoon, and I'm not sure it isn't the best. Runner up: "Ducking the Devil".
Lumberjack Rabbit
1954 - Chuck Jones
Yipe! A giant Frisky Puppy! (Boy, maybe this isn;t a Bugs cartoon, but Claude Cat's bad dream.) Great cartoon! Funny! I like Bugs singin' "Jimmy Crack Corn." I will agree with Pinky, though..."I think so Brain, but if Jimmy cracks corn and no one cares, why does he keep doin' it?"
Baby Buggy Bunny
1954 - Chuck Jones
This one is also a great Chuck Jones film. Kind of twisted, actually. I like that about Jones' Bugs films, many of them have weird characters.
Hare Brush
1955 - Friz Freleng
This is THE role-reversal cartoon. Period. I LOVE this cartoon. But...was it time-compressed?
Print Schedule Rabbit Rampage
1955 - Chuck Jones
It's not at all as bad as some people say it is. It's just no "Duck Amuck"...but how can it be? It's still a funny cartoon. Elmer is more obnoxious than Bugs ever was to Daffy, he really DOES get even with the scwewy wabbit.
Roman Legion Hare
1955 - Friz Freleng
This one is wonderful. This is a Freleng classic...but how do you explain a little cowboy in ancient Rome? Too bad they had to go off and ruin it in "Devil's Feud Cake".
Rabbitson Crusoe
1956 - Friz Freleng
Sam carries the cartoon here. I like this. "Dopey Dick"! What a great name for a shark. This is similar to "Hawaiian Aye Aye".
Napoleon Bunny-Part
1956 - Friz Freleng
This isn't funny. Some of the historical cartoons have their heart i the right place, but they just don't work. This is one of those. Avoid this, guys.
Half Fare Hare
1956 - Robert McKimson
McKimson really liked the Honeymooners, didn't he? Cramden and Norton are hoboes on a train, and want to make a mel out of Bugs. Good cartoon. Good backgrounds, too.
To Hare Is Human
1956 - Chuck Jones
Like all the Coyote/Bugs toons, this one is a classic cartoon for sure. I like the last piece of advice Wile E.'s machine gives him.
Ali Baba Bunny
1957 - Chuck Jones
Good, not great. I like the line "Guard well this treasure, Hassan, or the jackals shall grow fat on thy carcass!". The only problem I have with this is that Daffy is too mean. I mean, it's funny in "Bean Stalk Bunny" or the juch later "The Iceman Ducketh" when he's mean like this, but this is too much.
Piker's Peak
1957 - Friz Freleng
Sam is a STUBBORN fella, isn't he?
Hare-Less Wolf
1958 - Friz Freleng
It's the wolf from "Red Riding Hoodwinked" after Bugs! Intersting stylized design for the wolf, and look at the backgrounds...they're extremely well-done. Interesting fall setting.
Knighty Knight Bugs
1958 - Friz Freleng
I'm not exactly sure why this, of all cartoons, got the oscar, but it's excellent anyway. Half the fun is seeing Yosemite Sam where he doesn't belong, yet fits perectly.
Baton Bunny
1959 - Chuck Jones and Abe Levitow
I'm sorry, maybe I'm missing something, but it's not funny to me. It's well-drawn and animated, but it's not funny.
Bonanza Bunny
1959 - Robert McKimson
Hey, this is a classic! I like how Bugs wears his socks on his ears to keep warm...watch this tonight if you missed it, you won't be disappointed!
Person To Bunny
1960 - Friz Freleng
TV parody of "Person To Person". It's really good, In my opinion. Boy, "Burrows" needs to clean out his ashtray, doesn't he?
The Abominable Snow Rabbit
1961 - Chuck Jones
This is a Bugs and Daffy classic. We've all seen this, so let's move on.
Compressed Hare
1961 - Chuck Jones
This is possibly the best Bugs/Coyote toon I saw yesterday. They are all good, though. The cork thing cracked me up the most. Notice that the electromagnet sets off an air-raid siren...unusual for the middle of the desert.
Wet Hare
1962 - Robert McKimson
I wish they had used Black Jacque Shellaque more often. He's funny. In fact, this whole carrtoon is a classic. Very good for the later years.
Shishkabugs
1962 - Friz Freleng
I like this one. Sam's personality really shows up well here. What exactly is "hassenpheffer?" Is it a real rabbit dish?
Devil's Feud Cake
1963 - Friz Freleng
THIS SUCKS . Possibly the worst Bugs cartoon I've ever seen.
The Million-Hare
1963 - Robert McKimson
Bugs and Daffy are, if you read more into it than meets the eye, dying here. Really, it's almost symbolic. Everything revolves around the TV, which contibuted to the loss of money in the studio. Daffy forgets he can fly, Bugs forgets he can hop, which is sort of a sign that they had forgotten their own resourcefulness. Still, the cartoon is funny.
Print Schedule Hare-Breadth Hurry
1963 - Chuck Jones
This would be great with some more work. It's kind of lame, though, not because it's weird, not because Bugs talks too much, bu because Chuck and Co. seem to be just going through the motions, like nearly all the other directors at the time. You can tell they were winding down, the animation is not near as good as Chuck Jones' crew usually does, andthere are some pretty dull gags. What makes this even worse is that Bill Lava is still new at the job here...and boy, does this score SUCK!!!
Mad As Mars Hare
1963 - Chuck Jones
At last, a good one! Watching them all in chronological order is kind of sad after 1963, you caan actually see Bugs Bunny die before your eyes. This seems to prove that he still had life left in him.
Dumb Patrol
1964 - Gerry Chiniquy
EEEEWWWW...The only thing that saves this is Lava actually playing a song at the opening, and the ending. Otherwise, I recommend staying away from it. No wonder ABC hardly ever ran it.
Fright Before Christmas
1979 - Friz Freleng
I love this one. I don't know why. Maybe it's Taz eating the tree that gets me..."watch out for that green one...it's not quite right."
Bugs Bunny's Christmas Carol
1979 - Friz Freleng
This is an unusual retelling, but not bad. The animation is rather limited here, but the humor shows through, and Mel Blanc's voices are excellent.
Box Office Bunny
1990 - Darrell Van Citters
I like this one. I once heard someone here call it cheesy. Maybe, but it's better than the TV ones.

Nice reviews. I'll give my review of all the Bugs premiere cartoons when I watch over my tape.

You won't believe it, but Frank Gorshin was listed in the credits of ths one! The Riddler as Yosemite Sam? I'll be g.d.'ed. What next--Adam West as the big-headed scientist guy who owns Gossamer? Fav scene: Sam protests when the chorus claims he gets sick at sea, but eventually and shamefacedly admits he does on occassion. A very well-done short, even better than Jones' made-for-TV material. Nice last hurrah for that cotton-pickin' long-eared rackinfrackin' galoot.
I think it was Maurice La Marche who voiced Sam in "Carrotblanca", as well as two times on The Sylvester and Tweety Mysteries.
Matthew said:

You are right, Davis even uses the chubbier low-crotched Bugs that McKimson used for a while, but it still has that very Arthur Davis feel to it. Also, Shep, from "Bone Sweet Bone"made a guest appearance in this film!
I'll revue the cartoons later, when I watch the premiers again, but I'm sort of Bugs Bunnied out at the moment. My least favorites are "Box Office Bunny," (it had awful pacing, as if the characters were rushing because they think the film will run out before they get to the end of the cartoon. And the colors/backgrounds, yuck.... clutter and color-blindness abound), and "Carrotblanca" (too many characters, and again with the pacing)
"From Hare To Eternity" was okay, but Sam's voice, no accent at all! And the opening with Sam singing was bad, now I know why Freleng never gave Sam a large musical number...
I agree with Matthew about "Ali Baba Bunny," I can't believe that one got onto the "50 Greatest Cartoons" list.
I don't quite get "Foxy By Proxy," it was weird how it reused that old footage.
I loved "Rabbit Hood", but are you sure that's a caricature of Jones? This one is even better than "Robin Hood Daffy"....

I enjoyed reading your reviews Mathhew, but I have some quibbles:
1) Why do you bash "Napoleon Bunny-Part"? I find it to be one of Friz's funniest Bugs cartoons. Maybe the 'historical' setting put you off, but remember, "Nappy" was taken away by the men in white at the end, so is it really a cartoon with a 'historical' setting, or was "Nappy" nuts? Watch it again with a clear mind and let me know.
2) You find "Mutiny On The Bunny" the weakest of the Bugs/Sam as pirates trilogy? Funny, I find "Captain Hareblower" to be the weakest, mainly because Bugs gets it in the end. Personally, I like it when the gets the better of Sam. Maybe there weren't enough explosions for your liking.
3) You consider "Bonanza Bunny" a classic? I find it to be pretty predictable myself. A lot of gags were borrowed from earlier cartoons and it seems pretty forced. The only reason I taped it was to have it go along with "Wet Hare" which I taped from Nick many years ago.
I do agree with you on two counts however:
1) "Devil's Feud Cake" is about the worst Bugs cartoon ever
and
2) ALL Bill Lava music is horrible!!

Nice looking reviews here, even though I was on the run all day back & forth, must've been a saturday...Anyways:
-"Forward March Hare"-It was interesting getting a look at Bugs's skeleton!
-"From Hare to Eternity"-Well I never knew Gorshin could get his voice that low, but yes, a YOSEMITE SAM, he was'nt. I liked the treasure gag though, "I hates frogs".
-"Fright before Xmas/Bunny's Xmas Carol"-I had this show taped during the early 80s and seemed to watch it ALL the time. Got erased somewhere between 84-86, so these ended up being big sentimental favorites for me.
-"Box Office Bunny"-Enjoyed it! I dont know why But I seem to crack up BIG TIME whenever a chainsaw killer pops up in a WB toon, ala QUACKBUSTERS.

A Bunch of those didn't make it to New York yet.I NEVER saw Devils Feud Cake and I think I'll avoid it.Out of the ones I saw here are my reviews.Just remember these are my Opinions.
Prehisterical Bugs
This to me seemed way too short.I liked it but too short and Elmer has the worst voice in this one.Its almost like when Elmer was Egghead you couldn't look at him cause he was so ugly.
From Hare to Eternity
This was only ok.Same problem here as Prehisterical Bugs only this time its Sam not Elmer who has the weird voice.
Napolien Bunny-part
BORINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG and thats all I'm gonna say.
8-Ball Bunny
I'm watching this now so I'll take a quick break.I just watched this one and it was only ok.I didn't get it or find it funny. The Penguin was cute though
Blooper Bunny
It wasn't on the marathon yet but I had to review it.I love this one.Daffy was just too funny Daffy:Son of a (BLEEP) Was that how it went?
Carrotblanca
This one is only ok.Tweety annoys me in this one as does Kitty.
Hillbilly Hare
I'm watching this now.I dissagree with Matthew on this one.It was just unfunny.
Hare we Go
I'm watching this now.
STAY AWAY FROM ALL HISTORICAL EPISODES OF BUGS. This was and I mean it PROBLY THE WORST BUGS FILM EVER MADE. Stay away from this one.
Rabbit Rampage
Its no Duck Amuck but it was good.Elmer did a good job at out- smarting Bugs even though Duck Amuck was ALOT funnier.
Knighty Knight Bugs
How the hell did this win an Oscar? Its boring and totally unfunny.
So thats all Folks.I'll review The Bugs/Tweety ABC Episodes later when they are oon for the final two hours of the night.

I somehow left out "Pre-Hysterical Hare". Well, this was okay, not wonderful though. Seems to me to be a pointless cartoon, Elmer's voice is pretty bad. Isn't that the openiong scene from "Caveman Inki" at the beginning of the "lost film"?
Okay, a reply to you, lisle:
1) "Why do you bash "Napoleon Bunny-Part"? I find it to be one of Friz's funniest Bugs cartoons. Maybe the 'historical' setting put you off, but remember, "Nappy" was taken away by the men in white at the end, so is it really a cartoon with a 'historical' setting, or was "Nappy" nuts? Watch it again with a clear mind and let me know. "
-Not that I'm trying to bash it, I just didn't like that one. To me, it seemed boring compared to the others I'd been seeing all day. It's not a stinker, it's just not great.
2) "You find "Mutiny On The Bunny" the weakest of the Bugs/Sam as pirates trilogy? Funny, I find "Captain Hareblower" to be the weakest, mainly because Bugs gets it in the end. Personally, I like it when the gets the better of Sam. Maybe there weren't enough explosions for your liking. "
-It's by no means a weak cartoon, just not as good as the other two, in my opinion. It's not the explosions, necessarily. Can't really put my finger on it. It's a great Bugs cartoon, but the weakest of those 3. Once again, just my opinion.
3) You consider "Bonanza Bunny" a classic? I find it to be pretty predictable myself. A lot of gags were borrowed from earlier cartoons and it seems pretty forced. The only reason I taped it was to have it go along with "Wet Hare" which I taped from Nick many years ago.
-Predictable, maybe, but I like the character of Black Jacque Shellaque. A lot of cartoons by this time period were "borrowed", but that doesn't make them less funny the second time. Once again, my opinion. The cartoon has a fun setting for Bugs, I thought.
1) "Devil's Feud Cake" is about the worst Bugs cartoon ever "
-yes, it's bad. REAL bad. It could have been tolerable if they hadn't dubbed and Lava'd the stock footage. They should've at least kept the original voices. You can tell Mel Blanc is just trying to force this...remember that "let's run through that again" scene in one of the "hunter trilogy"? Sounds like that to me. No intonation, and in my opinion the whole cartoon is crap...it's "Satan's waitin'" gone all wrong.
2)" ALL Bill Lava music is horrible!!"
In the classic era, yes. I can't stand some of the scores to those later Road Runners, and "Dr. Devil and Mr. Hare", a weak toon already, is given the stab of death by its soundtrack. However, not ALL Lava music is bad. He was actually quite entertaining in the DePatie/Frelelng and Hendricks/Klynn days. His only problem is, in almost all cases he was just trying to orchestrate (if you call that an orchestra) a cartoon, whereas those who came before him, most notably Stalling and Franklyn, had made the soundtrack FUNNY. For example, if it was a hillbilly, he played "I like Mountain Music", 'Arkansas Traveller (bringi' Home a Baby Bumblebee)", or "When I Yoo Hoo". A train? "California, Here I come." a meal? "Mammy's Little Baby Likes Shortnin' Bread" or "A Cup of Coffeee, A Sandwich and You." Lava? DAAADUHHHHDUHHHHHH....DADaDUM......BOOM BOOM...DEEEDEEEEEEDEEEE...BUM. You get the idea.

Forward March Hare
A gag I just got was Bugs reading the eye chart. Yeah, it's funny that he can read the name on the bottom of the eye-chart company. But I just realized why: because he eats so many carrots!
Hare-Less Wolf
My favorite cartoon of the night. I was laughing hysterically through half of it. I really love Freleng's cartoons from this era.
So many of the cartoons blend together for me right now, and I watch a great deal of them half-asleep. I can't wait to take the time and review my tapes, it was a great marathon.

Hey Matthew:
Guess what? I left out "Pre-Hysterical Hare" also. I don't know why it escaped me at the time, but that also has to rate with "Devil's Fued Cake"as the worst Bugs cartoon.
As for your opinions, I respect them wholeheartedly. What I like most about this board is that we can express our opinions and yet respect others (most of the time, anyway). As for the JUNE BUGS marathon, I'm getting a bit Bugs'd out, so I have stopped watching and have my VCR set for LN B&W, Droopy & Popeye. Again, I am a hapy camper to have seen some of these cartoons uncut for the first time in my life. I've never seen the uncut versions of "To Hare Is Human", "No Parking Hare" or "Half-Fare Hare" and now I can add them to my collection.
Hope everyone else liked the marathon.

From Hare To Eternity - Yeeeeeeeesh! How anyone could like this cartoon is beyond me. The pacing was terrible and the gags were pretty bad.
Hare Splitter - Yes, very good film. Why they edited it I'll never know. Maybe it was because both thought "orgasm" when they exploded?
My Bunny Lies Over The Sea - Very funny indeed. I always crack up at McCrory's "Two?" after Bugs does that whole bad math thing.
Hare Do - How was this like "Stage Door Cartoon?" The gags were entirely different. Elmer only appears on stage once - and he doesn't even know it.
Bowery Bugs - From what I hear the narrator introduced this as "Bowery Dogs." Goes to show how much these stupid narrators actually care about the cartoons.
The Grey-Hounded Hare - True, Bugs has fallen for robot rabbits before, but at least those were "realistic" by cartoon standards. This one could not even pass for real in the cartoon world. And the other robot rabbits appeared to close to Bugs' age. This one looked no older than six. Maybe Bugs is a petophile?! And Bugs didn't fall for the "Operation: Rabbit" robot for a second. It was Wile E. who fell for Bugs' own female coyote robot.
Rabbit Hood - Very good cartoon. I never knew Little John was a caricature of Chuck
Hurdy Gurdy Hare - Better than "Gorilla My Dreams?" Wwwwwell now, I wouldn't say that, but it's funny.
Mutiny On The Bunny - Agreed. This is the weakest of the Pirate Sam trilogy, due to a slow pace.
Homeless Hare - Yes, Bugs' revenge was well-justisfied. Very funny cartoon.
8 Ball Bunny - One of my favorites. I think it's Bugs' good nature rather than the gags that drives this cartoon. I enjoyed seeing Bugs go out of his way to help others. Of course the gags were funny too, such as the recurring Humphrey Bogart.
Hillbilly Hare - The square dance is hilarious. I love how the action flows so well with the music.
Hare We Go - Great cartoon. I love when Bugs throws the baseball all around the world, and when Bugs reluctantly gives Colombus credit for discovering "America." It's probably the only Bugs Bunny cartoon in which there is a third party between Bugs and his attackers who is effected by Bugs' beating of them.
Bunny Hugged - Agreed, better than "Rabbit Punch."
French Rarebit - Yeah, that Bugs showing the chefs how to cook rabbit was pretty much the only gag in the film. Both chefs looked hilarious as rabbits.
His Hare-Raising Tale - Not bad at all, although the clips' context were entirely changed. And why not? People exaggerate stories nearly every time they tell them, although I'd be impressed enough with the original contexts. Still, i'd say exaggerating the stories makes Bugs a little more human.
14 Carrot Rabbit - Agreed, great cartoon.
Foxy By Proxy - Bugs probably wants to be chased purely for the fun of it. Sort of gives him back his '40's attitude. Good cartoon.
The Hasty Hare - Good cartoon. I never knew the scientist was a caricature of Friz.
Oily Hare - Funny.
Hare Lift - The only time I've seen this reused in is "Devil's Feud Cake"
Forward March Hare - Yeah the war was already over, but it was more a cartoon about army life than war. I think the missile as helmet gag was a deliberate attack on the sergeant. I wasn't crazy about this cartoon. Bugs should've noticed that the envelope read "B. Bonny" and not "B. Bunny." But he was barely out of bed, so I'll cut him some slack. BTW, just wondering did anybody notice the address on the envelpe?
Upswept Hare - I enjoyed Bugs' attitude about how he thinks (or knows) he is better than Elmer. The backgrounds were really good. Funny gags.
Hare Trimmed - Again, as in "8 Ball Bunny," I enjoyed seeing Bugs go out of his way to help others. The gags were really funny.
Robot Rabbit - Good cartoon. I like how Bugs at first considered the robot a more challenging opponent than usual, and then was on top as usual. Bugs' female robot disguise was pretty funny.
No Parking Hare - Not bad, but I prefer "Homeless Hare" because of the backgrounds and character design.
Devil May Hare - The Taz cartoons are all of equal enjoyment to me, which are all pretty good.
Lumber Jack Rabbit - Funny cartoon, 3D or not. Did you know that Jack Rabbit was Tex Avery's original consideration of a name for Bugs?
Baby Buggy Bunny - Good, but not great. Bugs really should've caught on to Finster/Harry earlier.
Hare Brush - Very funny, even though Bugs is the loser.
Rabbit Rampage - Agreed, not as bad as people say, although again Bugs is the loser.
Roman Legion Hare - Agreed, a real classic. IMO, Sam really was the legionaire and not a cowboy.
Rabbitson Crusoe - Yes, very funny.
Napoleon Bunny-Part - Not bad at all. I enjoyed seeing Bugs take on Napoleon as much I enjoyed seeing him take on the Nazi in "Herr Meets Hare," even though Napoleon in this cartoon was about as challenging as Elmer Fudd.
Half Fare Hare - Yes, good cartoon. I liked how the "Honeymooners'" personalities fit well into the Bugs cartoon.
To Hare Is Human - Yes, definitely a classic. The ending was hilarious
Ali Baba Bunny - This is one of my favorite Bugs/Daffy cartoons. Daffy's meanness didn't work for me in "Iceman Ducketh."
Piker's Peak - Good cartoon.
Hare-Less Wolf - IMO, the wolf's forgetfulness was downright frustrating. And I'm not one for the backgrounds
Knighty Knight Bugs - Agreed that this is not the only Oscar-worthy Bugs Bunny cartoon, but it is fun to watch.
Baton Bunny - I was amused at Bugs' musical one-man cowboys vs. Indians show although the war with the fly IMO was boring
Bonanza Bunny - The funniest part of this cartoon IMO was the Blackjack scene.
Person To Bunny - Not bad.
Abominable Snow Rabbit - Agreed, definitely a classic. I liked Daffy's minute of remorse when he thinks he's finally killed Bugs.
Compressed Hare - I wouldn't call this the best Bugs/Coyote cartoon, but it's funny.
Wet Hare - Yes, very funny. I'm surprised Black Jaque is not censored like Speedy.
Shishkabugs - Funny. Probably one of the few cartoons in which I sort of felt sorry for Sam. And I like how he and Bugs both sort of win at the end. His personality is definitely stronger than Bugs' here.
Devils Feud Cake - I certainly don't like the fact that Bugs has a death on his hands.
The Million Hare - I enjoy this one. I liked how the Bugs and Daffy friendship was emphasized about as much as their rivalry.
Hare-Breadth Hurry - Yes, Bugs' constant talking is a little annoying at times.
Mad As A Mars Hare - Ehhh
Dumb Patrol - Mmm, I don't think it was that bad
Fright Before Christmas - Very enjoyable for the post-classic era
Bugs Bunny's Christmas Carol - Not bad, but could've been better. Could've been as good as the Disney version if it wanted to be. My favorite scene here was when Bugs fills Sam's tub with the snow.
Box Office Bunny - Total piece of s--t. Both Bugs' and Daffy's characters were unlikable; Bugs didn't seem to mind the theater being built over his house, which is out of character; "sneaking" into a movie theater is not a good excuse for a chase; Daffy had absolutely NO reason for chasing Bugs; if the whole cartoon was dated in the '90's, I don't think they even have theater ushers anymore.

Yes it is a real dish. It's German (given that the British royals of the House of Hanover were German, it's appropriate) and the primary ingredient is rabbit. I once named a stuffed animal (a rabbit, of course) Hassenpfeiffer.

I've heard all about "From Hare to Eternity", though I missed it. And if Gorshin was as bad as Sam as you say he was, I wager that his work still wouldn't be a patch on two horrendous moments from two otherwise excellent "Simpsons" episodes.
"Monty Can't Buy Me Love" - Lisa is in an electronics store and she's watching "The Postman" on DVD. She accesses the director's commentary using the remote (that's not how you access it) and in pops Kevin Costner speaking into a microphone apologizing profusely for his folly (there's no video in these commentaries; perhaps for a Kevin SMITH film...). Bottom line: doesn't Costner have kind of a Southern accent? But in the weird world of "The Simpsons", his accent magically disappears. Whoa.
"Sideshow Bob's Last Gleaming" - Sideshow Bob overhears a TV show featuring crude remarks from an old lady. The lady? Vanessa Redgrave (at least according to him). I'm pretty sure that the Oscar-winning star of "Julia" has a British accent. Where'd it go? There it is. No, wait, that's not it. Ah, forget it. It's gone. It sounded less like Redgrave and more like Tress was doing Agnes Skinner if she started hanging out with Patty and Selma.
So, clearly, there are performances out there much more inconsistent than Gorshin's.

It's not Chain Smoking Agnes Skinner that Redgrave sounded like. It's Mrs. Peenman from "The Mask" animated series (also voiced by Tress MacNeille). My mistake.

Actually, some of the newer DVD's do have a video commentary (Walking With Dinosaurs, Glory: SE, MIB: Limited Edition, Ghostbusters...)
It's neat, but I doubt The Postman would have something like that..

I just watched over my tape of the premiere Bugs Bunny cartoons from June Bugs, and here are my reviews of them:
[1948, Freleng] Hare Splitter
* A very good cartoon. The exploding carrot gags were the funniest.
* Right before Bugs puts the lipstick on, he puckers his lips and they turn red for a quick frame, then they turn white again!
* Why was Bugs and Daisy saying “What a woman!” “What a man!” at the end edited out? CN shows similar stuff like that in other cartoons.
* Favorite Line: “You know, I believe he would” – Bugs, after Casbah punches “a man with glasses”
RATING: **** A-
[1948, Jones] My Bunny Lies Over the Sea
* A pretty good cartoon. Good gags.
RATING: ***7/8 B+
[1949, Freleng] Hare Do
* The plot seems kinda similar to STAGE DOOR CARTOON to me, but still, a funny cartoon.
* During the opening, the concetric rings in the background of the WB shield move down a little bit. It’s really noticable if you fast forward your tape at that part, and it looks kinda weird.
* I wonder how the theatre would even let Elmer in with that rifle in his hands.
* You can see a picture of a naked woman in the background when Bugs is climbing over the people seated in the audience.
* Bugs as the old lady was hilarious.
* When Elmer is strangling Bugs, what happened to all the other people in the audience?
* There’s no doorknob on the ladies room door, but there is one on the door to the men’s room.
RATING: **** A-
[1949, Davis] Bowery Bugs
* Arthur Davis’ only Bugs Bunny cartoon, and this one is pretty good.
* Like Davis’ other cartoons, the scenes in this cartoon end strangely.
* That dog that licks Steve Brody looks a lot like Shep from BONE SWEET BONE.
* It took me a while to get the ending joke.
RATING: ***3/4 B
[1949, McKimson] The Grey-Hounded Hare
* A good cartoon. The ending was great where Bugs kissed the robotic bunny and got electrocuted.
* It was great to finally see the scene that ABC cut, where the dog fetches a stick of dynamite.
RATING: **** A
[1949, Jones] Rabbit Hood
* This reminded me of Jones’ A FEATHER IN HIS HARE, the way the sherrif looked like the Indian (the long nose, the big chin), and how both cartoons deal with Bugs outsmarting them for the whole cartoon.
* Little John’s voice sounded like Heathcliff’s from DOUGH, RAY, ME-OW.
* Also nice to see the uncut scene where Bugs “knights” the sherrif, which was hilarious. ABC ruined it.
* When Bugs says, “Got lotsa stamina,” was he referring to the sherrif, or himself?
* CLASSIC LINE: “Arise, Sir Loin of Beef, Earl of Cloves, Milk of Magnesia…” -- Bugs, when
“knighting” the sherrif.
RATING: **** A-
[1950, McKimson] Hurdy-Gurdy Hare
* The gorilla from GORILLA MY DREAMS returns! This cartoon was okay, but nothing really that special.
RATING: ***1/2 B-
[1950, Freleng] Mutiny on the Bunny
* An okay cartoon. Everytime Sam accidentally sunk the ship cracked me up!
* The opening scene was kinda strange.
* Where was Bugs all the times when Sam accidentally sunk the ship? Bugs was on board so wouldn’t he have fallen underwater, too?
RATING: ***1/2 B-
[1950, Freleng] Homeless Hare
* A very good cartoon. The gags had me laughing.
RATING: **** A
[1950, Freleng] 8 Ball Bunny
* I didn’t see FRIGID HARE, so I didn’t fully understand this. This seemed unusual for a Bugs Bunny cartoon. I didn’t enjoy it all that much.
* I surprised the scene with the natives wasn’t cut.
* CLASSIC LINE: “OOH, I’M DYIN’!!!!” -- Bugs, after he finds out that the penguin is all the way from the South Pole.
RATING: *** C
[1950, McKimson] Hillbilly Hare
* A classic! A lot of hilarious scenes with Bugs and the Hillbillies, and of course, the classic squaredance at the end!
RATING: ***** A+
[1951, McKimson] French Rarebit
* Average cartoon. Had potential but wasn’t that great.
RATING: ***1/2 B-
[1951, Freleng] His Hare Raising Tale
* This was pretty useless. It was just Bugs’ retelling old footage of scenes from older cartoons.
* The prints of the old cartoons did look good, though, and better than CN’s dubbed versions of those cartoons.
RATING: **3/4 D
[1952, Freleng] 14 Carrot Rabbit
* Pretty good. That’s all I can say.
RATING: ***3/4 B
[1952, Freleng] Foxy by Proxy
* Average cartoon. This is basically Bugs’ version of OF FOX AND HOUNDS.
* The tree log gag was reused from THE BIG SNOOZE.
RATING: ***1/2 B-
[1952, Jones] The Hasty Hare
* A sequel to HAREDEVIL HARE. This one is very funny.
* Jones sure made a lot of outer space cartoons.
* What was with CN’s senseless edit to the astronomer’s line about taking up turkey farming?
* CLASSIC LINE: “How Buck Rodgers can ya get?” -- Bugs, when asking himself about the martians
RATING: **** A
[1953, McKimson] Oily Hare
* A very funny cartoon. It seems that when Bugs is battling against two brothers, the two brothes always speak in goofy accents, and one of them has red hair, and the other black (i.e. FRENCH RAREBIT, HILLBILLY HARE, and I’m sure there’s others).
* I liked a lot of the sight gags, like the car seat that looks like a saddle, the long-distance phone call to the chauffer, etc.
* After the oil gusher explodes, carrots burst out of the geyser and the two Western hayseeds on top of it, but when they show that scene in the long shot, they’re on top of carrot juice, instead of just carrots.
RATING: **** A
[1952, Freleng] Hare Lift
* A pretty good cartoon, but seemed a lot like FALLING HARE, which I thought was funnier.
* Funniest part was when Sam called for the robot pilot, and instead of flying the plane, the robot pilot put on a parachute and dove out of the plane!
* When we see Bugs in the cockpit of the plane after it has taken off, the window is a lot lower than it was in the previous scene where Bugs was figeting with the controls.
* CLASSIC LINE: “Keep reaching for the celing – till you reach it!” -- Yosemite Sam
RATING: ***3/4 B
[1953, McKimson] Unswept Hare
* A great cartoon.
* Funniest parts were when the downstairs neighbor would tie random objects around Elmer’s head, like a rifle, dumbbell, etc.
* I’m surprised ABC even showed this cartoon, with all the shootings in it.
RATING: **** A-
[1953, Freleng] Hare Trimmed
* A hilarious cartoon. One of my favorites.
* Nice to see this uncut, also. ABC cut out some of the best parts.
RATING: ***** A+
[1953, Freleng] Robot Rabbit
* A great cartoon. Funny scenes with the robot, especially when he mistakes Elmer and the horse for a rabbit and blasts them.
* When Elmer says on the phone, “Well, send one right over,” he closes his mouth before the line is done.
* CLASSIC LINE: “Why, you big nincom---(POW!!!)---poop!” -- Bugs
RATING: **** A
[1954, McKimson] No Parking Hare
* Basically a rehash of HOMELESS HARE, although some gags are different. But the storyline is the same, and so is the ending.
RATING: *** C+
[1954, McKimson] Devil May Hare
* The debut of Tazmanian Devil, who’s a popular character in his own right, despite being in only a handful of cartoons. He was a hilarious character, and and was another good foil for Bugs.
* The look on Taz’s face when he saw the Bicarbonate of Soda chicken cracked me up!
RATING: ****1/4 A
[1954, Jones] Lumber Jack Rabbit
* The only 3-D WB cartoon. An okay cartoon, but not great. The 3-D gags weren’t utilized that well, and the ending seemed kinda weak. This also kinda foreshadowed Jones’ boring, formulatic cartoons from later on in the 50’s.
* That dog, Smidgen, looked a lot like Charlie Dog.
RATING: *** C+
This is around the time when they changed the theme songs, and the animation quality of the cartoons lowered, soon followed by the quality of the cartoons. Not one of my favorite WB periods.
[1955, Jones] Baby Buggy Bunny
* The announcer introduced this as “Baby Buggy Bugs.”
* On the letter that came with “Baby Finster”, what did it say after “broken hearted”? The CN logo in the corner of the screen blocked it, so I can’t make it out.
* CN cut out the toy gun scene. Where in the cartoon was the scene originally? I didn’t notice any cuts.
RATING: ***3/4 B
[1955, Freleng] Hare Brush
* This was a very strange cartoon with the role-reversal, but it was hilarious. The funniest part was the hunting scene.
* The ending was very funny, too.
RATING: ****1/4 A
[1955, Jones] Rabbit Rampage
* Why re-do DUCK AMUCK?
RATING: N/A
[1955, Freleng] Roman Legion-Hare
* I believe this is one of the few times we catch a glimpse of Sam minus his bandit eye-bandana.
* When Sam steps outside of the room, he’s standing on solid ground, but in the next scene, he’s on a rug.
* Why was Bugs saying ‘Plurbius Uranium’ at the end cut out?
* Hilarious ending.
RATING: **** A
[1956, Freleng] Rabbitson Crusoe
* Funny cartoon. This seems to focus a little more around Sam, and Bugs’ is more of a supporting player in this one.
* Part of Sam’s head is colored red at one part.
RATING: ***7/8 B+
[1956, Freleng] Napoleon Bunny-Part
* When Napoleon is mumbling garbled cursing to his guard when he first sticks him with the bayonet, listen closely and I can swear (no pun intended) you can hear him say the f-word in there.
* An okay cartoon. I liked the scenes with the dopey guard
RATING: ***1/2 B-
[1956, McKimson] Half-Fare Hare
* Another Honeymooners spoof by McKimson. Ralph and Norton were good foils for Bugs, but this cartoon was kinda weak.
* Ralph’s fight with the alligator was very funny.
RATING: *** C
[1956, Jones] To Hare is Human
* Another Bugs/Coyote cartoon. Always funny.
RATING: ****1/4 A
[1957, Jones] Ali Baba Bunny
* Ugh! The evil Daffy!
* Bugs’ motions when making the wish for Hassan was hilarious.
* CLASSIC LINE: “I can’t help it! I’m a greedy slob! It’s my hobby” -- Daffy, on why he keeps stealing the diamonds
RATING: *** C
[1957, Freleng] Piker’s Peak
* Is it just me, or is there a cut when Bugs eats the carrot when they show the “Bugs Bunny in...” logo during the credits.
* A little unusual that the music from the end of the cartoon played over the ending title card, instead of “The Merry Go Round Broke Down.”
RATING: ***1/2 B-
[1958, Freleng] Hare-Less Wolf
* Is the wolf’s name (Charles M. Wolf) a take-off on Charles M. Jones?
* After getting shot, the wolf’s face turns dark brown, but for a quick frame, it changes back to it’s regular color.
* This was pretty good. That wolf was really dumb.
RATING: ***3/4 B
[1959, McKimson] Pre-Hysterical Hare
* A poor, slow effort. Hal Smith’s awful voice for Elmer Fudd didn’t help it any.
* When Bugs says, “I just hope I’ll still be in one piece, so I’ll appreciate it,” his lips don’t move.
RATING: *7/8 D-
[1959, Jones/Levitow] Baton Bunny
* Creative cartoon, but not the least bit funny, and a boring 6 minutes to watch.
* Typical Jones effort from this era.
RATING: ** D
[1959, McKimson] Bonanza Bunny
* This was okay. It was nice to see this uncut, since ABC cut out all the key gags and their version lasted about a minute and a half.
RATING: ***1/2 B-
[1961, Jones] Compressed Hare
* Another Bugs/Coyote cartoon. Like I said before, good as always.
* The magnet scene was the funniest.
* Anybody notice that Bugs had a framed picture of a carrot in his room? That’s pretty funny.
RATING: ****1/4 A
[1962, McKimson] Wet Hare
* Another Blacque Jacque Shellaque cartoon. This one was okay,
* CLASSIC LINE: “Thees rabbeet ees seeck! Seeck! Seeck! Seeck!” -- Black Jacque Shellaque on Bugs Bunny
RATING: ***1/2 B-
[1962, Freleng] Shiskabugs
* After Sam says, “No!” to Bugs when he asks for diced carrots, Sam slams the door on him, but when he runs back out to get him, the door is already open.
* This was kind of weak. The ending came abruptly and it seemed that there would be more to it.
RATING: *** C
[1963, Freleng] Devil’s Feud Cake
* This is as bad as it gets. Another lousy cheater cartoon, only much worse. I agree with everyone else. This is THE worst Bugs cartoon ever (at least, the worst one I’ve seen).
* CN edited the devil’s line, “Who in hell are you?” and replaced it with, “What the devil is your name.” I don’t think the original line was ever heard on TV.
RATING: * F
[1963, McKimson] The Million-Hare
* McKimson seemed to like doing spoofs of popular TV shows at the time, like WIDEO WABBIT, PEOPLE ARE BUNNY, PERSON TO BUNNY…
* Kinda ironic (and sad) that this deals with Daffy and Bugs watching TV, since TV is what killed the quality of the WB cartoons anyway.
RATING: *** C
[1963, Jones] Hare Breadth Hurry
* What a bad idea, with having Bugs take over the RR’s place. Bugs never shuts up in this one.
RATING: *7/8 D-
[1964, Chinquy] Dumb Patrol
* Whoa! Porky Pig? This is his first appearance in a long time. But he was wasted in this cartoon. He didn’t even have anything to say!
* I’m surprised CN left in Bugs saying, “I heard of Hell’s angels, but I never thought I’d see one.”
* This was another bad one.
RATING: ** D

[1949, Davis] Bowery Bugs
This is where one of my favorite colloquialisms, "pull a Brody" (suicide by jumping) comes from...in case anyone sees me use that expression on this MB and wonders what the devil I'm talking about. Brody's voice sounds a bit like Disney's Pegleg Pete
character.
[1949, Jones] Rabbit Hood
Bugs' knighting of the sherriff is the high point of the cartoon...that and the bit where the Sherriff is building a house over the king's carrot patch. It takes a while to erect the frame for a house, I'd think, so this guy's brain must be working pretty d*** slow. When he realizes he's been fooled, I love the way he does a gradual burn and crushes the nails in his mouth.
"D-uh...don't you worry, never fear. Robin Hood will soon be here." Useless fact: Erroll Flynn was a short fellow and very self-conscious about it.
[1950, McKimson] Hurdy-Gurdy Hare
"The gorilla from GORILLA MY DREAMS returns! This cartoon was okay, but nothing really that special."
I hope Petrillo doesn't hear you say that!
[1950, Freleng] Mutiny on the Bunny
Watch carefully and you'll notice that Bugs' last bit of graffitti on the deck vanishes between cuts. Surely Sam couldn't have rubbed it out that fast?
Fav line: "I was a human being once!"
[1950, Freleng] 8 Ball Bunny
Fav line: "Pardon me...but could you help a fellow American who's down on his luck?" The guy looks so familiar, but I can't place him offhand. One of the few shorts where Bugs' altruism tuns around to bite him on his cotton tail....
[1956, Freleng] Napoleon Bunny-Part
"When Napoleon is mumbling garbled cursing to his guard when he first sticks him with the bayonet, listen closely and I can swear (no pun intended) you can hear him say the f-word in there."
Yes, I heard it too! And I thought I was the only one with a filthy mind! Listen also to the Bugs and Daffy promo with all the "duh"s, esp. the bit of a frightened Sylvester's incoherent stammering--I could have sworn (so to speak) he's saying "motherf***er"!
The dopey guard is Mugsy, Rocky the thug's partner from Freleng's gangster shorts. Well, if Sam could be a Roman centurion...
They restored the snuff scene, which was cut after the Mighty Mouse cocaine controversy of '88. Good to see that.
[1956, McKimson] Half-Fare Hare
Fav bit: Ralph attempts to eat Norton's foot. Norton grabs it away...then dresses it for himself!
Bugs Bunny gets a bumper crop all right. I don't know why, but "Bugs as loser" and "Bugs gets beat up" endings ring sour with me. This is also why I didn't care for "Dr. Devil and Mr. Hare".
1956, Jones] To Hare is Human
Was this the one with the giant supercomputer? How could Bugs be working that baby and be in his hole almost simultaneously? "The beauty of this machine is that it only has one moving part." Note that Wile E., though supposedly a genius, has to consult the computer for advice on getting away from the falling rock...and doesn't question the machine's verdict to let himself be hit by it! Possibly's Jones' remark on our technology-dependent society.
RATING: ****1/4 A
[1957, Freleng] Piker’s Peak
I'll never understand how they got from a mountain in Switzerland to the top of the Eiffel Tower in France.
[1962, Freleng] Shiskabugs
What happened to Sam after the king fired him? I mean, was he dragged to the gilloutine or shot by the firing squad or burned at the stake or what? It's left too up in the air. The king can't be the brightest man in the kingdom if he can't tell hossenpheffer from raw carrots--he requested the dish, so you think he'd know what it is. Hossenpheffer is referenced in the beginning an earlier short, in which Bugs complains about the perils of being a rabbit--it's third on the list after dogs and hunters.
[1963, Jones] Hare Breadth Hurry
A good idea, but weak execution. Is it just me or did Wile E. come off more absurd than menacing? Bugs could've been nice and offered him a bushel of carrots to munch on....
[1964, Chinquy] Dumb Patrol
"Whoa! Porky Pig? This is his first appearance in a long time. But he was wasted in this cartoon. He didn’t even have anything to say!"
When did he get married and father six piglets, I wonder?
"I’m surprised CN left in Bugs saying, 'I heard of Hell’s angels, but I never thought I’d see one.'
Me too.
"This was another bad one."
Oh, I thought it was fair--I mean, better than Jones' later made-for-TV potboilers (Bugs and Elmer as kids, or "Mad as a Mars Hare"). Sam's reference to schnapps and frauleins seemed a bit too sugggestive for young audiences and really struck me off-guard. Fav scene: Sam's fancy customized plane rips apart under its own stress and sends him plummeting. Lame joke alert: The big "B" in the flowers.
Sylvester's incoherent stammering--I could have sworn (so to speak) he's saying "motherf***er"!
Actually, I sort of hear that too, only to me it sounds like:
"Dee Dah Duh what the f**k"

1. Bowery Bugs- It was funny to see how "Bugs Bunny" made Steve Brody jump off the Brooklyn Bridge.
2. The Grey Hounded Hare- I hated how Bugs Bunny was stupid enough to fall for the fake rabbit.
3. Rabbit Hood- I think Robin Hood should have been seen before the end.
4. Hurdy Gurdy Hare- Although not a great cartoon, I wish Gruesome Gorilla appeared more frequently.
5. Mutiny on the Bunny- The worst of the three Sam-as-pirate cartoons.
6. 8 Ball Bunny- A very good cartoon. I would have liked to see Frigid Hare on the same day, but the PC people at AOL stopped me.
7. Hillbilly Hare- One of my all-time favorite Bugs Bunny cartoons. A great way to tease Andrew Martin on my school bus!
8. Hare We Go- Interesting to see Bugs Bunny in Columbus's time, even though the ending gag was lame.
9. His Hare Raising Tale- An enjoyable clip show. Knowing Clyde Rabbit was there made it more interesting. However, I was upset that Clyde did not believe Bugs's story.
10. The Hasty Hare- Bugs's struggle of leaving was good, but the edit was senseless. K-9 ruined the cartoon a little more.
11. Oily Hare- Not a very good situation for Bugs Bunny to be in. I would have liked to see Daffy Duck in this cartoon instead.
12. Hare Lift- The problems between Bugs Bunny and Yosemite Sam in the airplane made me like this cartoon.
13. Upswept Hare- I would have liked to see Yosemite Sam in Elmer Fudd's position here.
14. Hare Trimmed- I liked this cartoon and think Granny should have been paired up with Bugs more than this one time.
15. No Parking Hare- A very good situation for Bugs Bunny. The contruction worker should have been used in more Bugs cartoons.
16. Devil May Hare- About the same quality as the other Bugs/Taz cartoons, average. I like Ducking the Devil better.
17. Lumber Jack-Rabbit- The most annoying parts were the opening and closing, showing terrible signs of 3-D.
18. Baby Buggy Bunny- At first, I though 'Finster' really was a baby!
19. Hare Brush- The role reversal made this cartoon annoying to watch.
20. Knight Mare Hare- The dragon helped me enjoy the cartoon.
21. Roman Legion-Hare- A good cartoon to see since I received See Ya Later Gladiator on the same day.
22. Broom Stick Bunny- I feel like I waited too long to see this one. Witch Hazel should have appeared in more cartoons.
23. Rabbitson Crusoe- A highly enjoyable island struggle between Bugs Bunny and Yosemite Sam.
24- Napoleon Bunny-Part- not as bad as some people say it was. This type of cartoon should have been used more frequently.
25. Half Fare Hare- Rabbit stew on a train. Fun to watch.
26. To Hare is Human- My favorite Bugs Bunny cartoons are the first four Bugs/Coyote films, which includes this one.
27. Ali Baba Bunny- Daffy Duck's greed was too excessive here.
28. Piker's Peak- The oil well ending was a nasty surprise. How did they get from the Schmatterhorn to an oil well?
29. Hare-Less Wolf- The downside of this cartoon was the wolf's bad name.
30. Knighty Knight Bugs- It was nice to finally see this one with original 1958 titles and not the awful 1962 titles used on Cartoon Theatre.
31. Pre-Hysterical Hare- It was funny to see an ancient version of Bugs Bunny.
32. Bonanza Bunny- The first of only 2 Blacque Jacque Shellaque cartoons. It is too bad that he did not appear in more cartoons.
33. Person to Bunny- The smoking was a little excessive. You know why seeing Bugs Bunny on TV is not a good idea...
34. Compressed Hare- I really like this cartoon, the same way I liked To Hare is Human .
35. Wet Hare- This was even better than Bonanza Bunny . The whole plot was fun.
36. Shishkabugs- The rabbit food issue was a good idea.
37. Devil's Feud Cake- Not as bad as some people say. I like the clip shows, and this one had an excellent plot.
38. The Million Hare- The TV issue again. Not a good idea.
39. Hare-Breadth Hurry- It is not as good as the other Bugs/Coyote cartoons because here Bugs Bunny takes the Road Runner's place.
40. Mad as a Mars Hare- The last classic Marvin the Martian cartoon. It's sure nice that K-9 is not here.
41. Dumb Patrol- I do not like how the title is reused from a 1931 Looney Tune.
42. Fright Before Christmas- It was nice to see Speedy Gonzales during June Bugs.
43. Bugs Bunny's Christmas Carol- The cast of characters got a little out of hand. After this cartoon, I went to bed.
44. From Hare to Eternity- Not a good situation to re-visit. I watched this cartoon on the morning of June 3. (9:30 AM)
I did not watch the other premieres because I already had the other ones on tape.
