View Full Version : Aurora'd, anyone?
Just wondering if anyone else is getting blasted by those infernal 'Aurora' popups.
Now, I use Firefox. I also have every adware removing program around. Yet, no matter what I do, it's like a blasted cockroach. XP
Anyone successfully removed these? Please help, I'm desperate. TxT;

Mek, you might have something running in the background. I always recommend this as a first try to stop such annoyances (http://forums.toonzone.net/showpost.php?p=1678394&postcount=2).
Try Spybot: Search & Destroy (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/home/index.html) and Ad-Aware (http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware), if you have them installed.
Also, Microsoft released their own AntiSpyware (http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx]AntiSpyware) program. At present it's in beta mode, but it does a good job.

Speaking of computer problems, I have bugs in mine. Can anyone direct me to a free program to get rid of them?

You're better off purchasing one at a store. They run 10-20 bucks usualy

Try this (http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/) if you are speaking of a virus.

Viruses: check
Spyware: check
Bugs: unchecked
I have actual computer bugs in my computer. I can get free programs to SEARCH and detect them but not to get rid of them.

I have Norton. Norton sucks. Protection against viruses? I do a check once a week and every two weeks or so, there's a virus.
Macs are so much easier and useful against things like that.
I can't explain it.

This is what I mean (http://www.freedownloadtools.com/)Did you keep norton updated? Also do you have a built in firewall for your ISP?
My setup is multiple PC's to one ISP connection and I use a LYNKSYS router(it has a built in firewall). It's been perfectly fine with Norton and Windows XP aslong as you keep them updated. My last set-up went to hell twice mainly because of the lack of updates and the previous router.
]The various technicians I talked to always said to avoid free online content...because you'll pay for it later in repair bills

Norton does their updates automatically and the firewall's fine.

Hardly any. In fact, they slow the computer down so it's rare.

This is what I mean (http://www.freedownloadtools.com/)Are you actually experiencing problems? I'd be a little leery of something like that. You should do fine if you just run your windows disk cleanup and defragementer. You could also get something like this (http://www.download.com/TweakNow-RegCleaner/3000-2094_4-10380794.html?tag=lst-0-2) to clean the registry of old files that didn't install properly.
