Dick...I'm sorry but I couldn't wait.

Are any of you writers? As in fan fiction or otherwise?

I've gotten into writing over the last few years, writing a WATCHMEN movie script, THE BATMAN FAMILY parody, 3 SPECTRUM movies, a couple smaller ones, and my own project, which stems from a 300-page novel...(Very hush-hush.)

But I need to know if anyone is a writer.

Here's why:

For years I've dreamed of something that does justice to Batman. Something that doesn't ignore continuity completely. I'm starting to see that the best way to do this is to start over. Not a movie. Not a series of movies. A TV show. An hour long TV show, twice a week, every week. Starting from Batman's early adventures, it would trace the major events of Batman's life, and spotlight core characters in the batmythos.

These wouldn't be perfect adaptions of the stories, but all our favorite lines and moments would be there. I intend to stay VERY faithful to the source material.

Now I know this isn't gonna happen in real life, but for fun, I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna make the most REALISTIC Batman I can.

As many episode scripts as it takes.

Problem is, I can't do it alone. I figure I need some help. I intend to do this thing, and get it out to Batfans who will appreciate it.

I have a bit of a formula, and I've laid out what I want to do episode and storyline-wise. There will be at LEAST a season worth of scripts. Maybe more. I want this to be huge.

Are any of you interested? I need COMMITED writers with a good knowledge of Batman lore. I need concepts. And I need suggestions. Not suggestions like Batman/Predator. Suggestions for damn good story arcs and storylines.

If people want to come aboard, I can't take all of you obviously. But we'll work on it.

Ideally, someone would do a fanfic Superman show similar to this, and when the two shows are done, we could lead into a Legends of the DCU type thing called SUPER POWERS. I see no reason why we can't have our own DC live action universe. Who knows? Maybe we'll do a fantasy version of CRISIS...Kingdom Come...

But first, we have to do justice to Batman.

Comments should be put on this thread, but if you want in on it, or have ideas, suggestions etc, please email me. Let's not make this a huge post.

I hope to God that somewhere out there some batfans wants this to get done.

If there are, no deadlines or anything like that. It's a fantasy show, so we can put it out whenever we want.

And also...is this something you fans would WANT to have available? If it is, I'll work hard on it. If not, I'm not gonna bother. I spent a months on WATCHMEN and only 20-some people read it. They all thought it rocked, but still...I want to get this thing out there. I want this to be what fans wait for. Yeah...I know. Fat chance, right? I dunno. There are angels among us. (cough) Dick (cough)

Talk to me people.

-Dave.

P.S.

No, I don't want to be the next Bruce Timm. Just want Batman done right.

P.S.S

No, I won't stop saying people. It's my trademark. It's what I do.

P.S.S.S

Yes, I shamelessly quoted Tim Meadows...

TG, your idea is of great interest to me. When you say "the most REALISTIC Batman", what exactly do you mean?
Actually, I have been piecing together a post-"Legacy" work, but am very interested in a well-done, fan driven Batman. It also seems that without pressure from a studio or a publisher, things could be done the right way (no need to sell toys here).
I'd be interested to hear exactly the direction you'd like to go with this.

I mean REALISTIC. It won't tamper with a legend. Email me.

You all have no clue how bad I want this done. I have done character studies, episode sheets, a premise...

I have waited four years. Four years since...Batman and Robin. And the man with the crappy accent and the dumb lines. Four years since...all sense left my life. It frightened me as a 15 year old. Yes...I shall do Batman JUSTICE!!!

I have a suggestion for you. Since you are "starting over", so to speak, I'd like to see some original characters created. Don't just rely on the guys from the comics/BTAS/previous movies, because that would get stale after awhile. Use your imagination, but keep whatever new characters you create believable.

I'll be looking forward to whatever storylines/scripts you plan to post.

Let me be very clear. I am using comics characters, and classic comic stories. But I AM going to make some "stale" villains cool like say...RIDDLER...This is gonna be cool.
Joker...I got a bunch of EMAILS. It wasnt from Joker-something was it? THERE WILL BE ONLY ONE LAME VILLAIN IN THIS...

A question for the fans...

Would an Ultimate Batman type series have more appeal?

I've half written a couple of stories, so I'd be intrested in finishing them up and contributing if you want. I'll e-mail you the basics of them. BTW, is this a solo Batman themed show or are sidekicks involved? And if so, are they baesd on the characters in the mainstream comics (the new Batgirl, Robin, Huntress, etc...)?

It's up in the air right now. It might end up as an Ultimate Batman project...

Your on the wite page The Guard. I Actually had the same exact idea as soon as I saw, Batman Forever. I felt the filmmakkers were not taking this serious enough. I respect Tim Burton, but even with my appreciation for the fisrt movie, I still had many complaints, that I think degrade the character, and lookeed over things that are TRUE to the Comic book, and were easily left out. And all that did was make his charcter less interesting, less complex(his compexities make him cool), and one nagging issue with me and anytime Batman is mis-credited in any format, is by making him less skilled. Anytime I see dumb things happen to Batman that just is'nt of his nature, Physically or mentally, get's on my nerves.

The only format to come the closest to the comic books, is ofcourse the Animated Series.

The Guard, your on the right track though. JUST CHARACTERS from the book. If done correctly, you wont even have time for NEW characters. And lets not forget, your basically re-soing his history, anything else would be false. And if your following the books closley, you have almost TOO much material. I thought about this all for years now, some of it, jotted down, other parts I invision. Because realistically, In my mind, Im Like "When would I ever be able to really make something like this happen?" By that time, I always felt that I would be directing it. And a fear of mine was, that by then, some producer, or Network, would impose, and try to add changes in the show, so I also Figured that I or a close friend would have to produce it. Just to keep the vision staright forward.

Yes, another thing you hit right on the nail, which I also felt was, it has to be one of those hour Shows like NYPD Blue. And twice a week, would (COST ALOT), but also flow faster through all that has to happen, in the begining. And I think the tone should be serious. Sure the Joker has Jokes, but this guy is pretty scary...stark. And even though Nicholson did a great job, the film never provides that sense of fear of the joker, and anguish Batman has to go through. When in reality the average person would say, why is the Joker such a threat to someone as accomplished, and well trained as Batman.
Especially, after seeing the Burton movie, people may ask that qusetion, but when the Joker Dies, Batman's rules of life go down the tube. And if Batman truly did not value life, even those of criminals, then he would have killed Joker in the First twenty-five minutes of the Film.

Dont get me wrong, I love that movie, but inaccuracies like those, over the years from movie to movie, keep piling up, and beg for one true live action form of Batman. Batman in his truest form, no falsifications. This way It would be more of a dictionary, and in the future, if they want to know how to make a good Batman movie, they can learn from the show. Nowadays their lookin at the 60's show, to base the movies off of.

I have all sorts of things mapped out for this show. I have key points I think, should be seen, and exploited. There are just some things about Batman people dont know enough about.

I fully support the idea.

I'll email you, or just inform me what point your at in this project.
