George Clooney, who starred in 1997's Batman and Robin, said the critically panned film was "the greatest break" in his career although he "wasn't the right guy for the job." The website Comics Continuum posted up a few interesting comments about his work on the critically panned film. Clooney appeared on the premiere episode of E!'s Revealed series on Wednesday night.
Clooney has often joked, saying he was responsilbe for the death of the current Batman movie franchise..
"The trick is you actually have to sort of nail yourself before other people do," Clooney said. "The truth is, it wasn't a good film and I wasn't the right guy for the job, I guess. I also took a lot of hits on that film. I got nailed pretty good for it."
Batman & Robin was one of the most critically panned movie of the year, and flopped at the box office.
"If you're going to be in this business and you're going to survive, you have to sort of be able to take those hits. And the way you take them is if you're not really afraid to say, 'OK, you got me.' Or, is it true that you're a hack? 'OK, I'm a hack. You win. You got me.' It sort of takes the gun out of their hand a little bit.
"And after Batman and Robin, I said, 'OK, now I have to focus on better projects."
Clooney has gone on to do such critically acclaimed movies like Three Kings and O Brother, Where Art Thou?. His newest movie, Ocean's Eleven, opens this weeked.
