The books and the show are getting more interesting. What do you like or don't like about WITCH?:D

- the animation
- the voice work
- the plotting
- the humor
In short, everything. Perhaps it's time for me to seek out the original comics.

I've been trying to get the original comics but I can't find them in English. I don't think the US sells the comics(if they do please tell me where) except I think they started to sell them in books with two comic book stories within them.I've just been reading the books and watching the show.
I love...
Just about everything! Some of the things are messed up like Will not seeming to have any powers(yet) and all of the girls being able to fly but I pretty much like everything else.
The color is great! It's funny and the story is very creative and interesting enough to keep readers and watchers to want more(for the most part that is!):)

I like the comics because of the characters, the art style, and the story.
I like the show because I like the comics :)

Great writing and good music. It's too bad that often equates to a smaller viewing audience. I love the show, though... top notch!
Would it kill them to have just a little more action, though? But I'm guessing they're saving that for a much bigger event later on in the season. I'm content on waiting, though... it's not like there's anything to watch in its time slot right now anyway.

The show already has more action than the comics did . The comics don't really get much action until the second storyline, since it's aimed for girls and focuses more on characters and story.

There's really nothing I can't say that's different from anyone else's opinions. Other than the art style reminding me of another "European" cartoon. And, oh damnit I can't remember the other thing I was going to say...

I don't think the US sells the comics(if they do please tell me where) except I think they started to sell them in books with two comic book stories within them.I've just been reading the books and watching the show. You can get the graphic novels (that's how they call them) at Hyperion Books for Children (http://www.hyperionbooksforchildren.com/popular/display.asp?id=20). They present them as collector's editions. The only thing which bothers me they call Elizabeth Lenhard as the author. It's Elisabetta Gnone who created W.I.T.C.H.! By the way, they will be edited. That will be a big problem in future issues because of nudity, which keeps being innocent though.
W.I.T.C.H. originated in Itally in 2002 as a monthly comic.Correction, W.I.T.C.H. started on April 2001 in Italy.
ah, so its not actally that old then, is the animation of it italian too?The animation is made by S.I.P., France.

yeah I know they came out with graphic novels. I've read the first one called the Power of Friendship. It had the first 2 stories in it. I'm guessing that there are going to be a lot of these graphic novels because of the number of comics.
Something that has been really bothering me about the show is the problem that the show makes Will look like a sitting duck. I mean ,wow it's cool that she has the Heart of Candracar and releases the other powers but she's supposed to have powers of her own. She is a lot more powerful in the comics than in the show. Besides, she has gotten captured like five times and the others have had to rescue her. What is that all about! Also for those who have read the books know that the Heart of Candracar is supposed to be inside her body instead of around her neck. That way it can't be taken from her,but that it has to be given up willingly

lilshowtout91, fix your spoiler tag... your little secret's out in the open, if you know what I mean...
In the minisode the first transform back is pretty consistent with the description as it seems that the necklace comes out of her chest. But you gotta admit, having Will hold her necklace to cast a spell does look pretty cool...

Having only seen the show, the things I like...
A) Character designs and the basic art style of Meridain. Very Black Cauldronesque, only much crisper.
B) The storyarc is ongoing, but the series is still episodic.
C) There are some interesting side-characters hanging around. And most of them have shown up more than once.
d) The writing usually isn't too cheesy, most of the jokes are clever, and the voice acting is, as a whole, pretty good.

What I'm saying though is that Will's real powers are:
The power of absolute energy(pink magic)which is like a mix of water, fire, earth, and air;being able to talk to appliances(I think that's really cool!);and really anything that the other girls can do like making themselves invsible. Some of their powers are just focusing on things for them to happen.
It's just annoying to see Will get captured all the time and not use her own powers to get out of her mess.... She must use them sometime soon though. On the theme song it shows her busting out of a brick cage with her pink magic.Hopefully...:)

Blunk always make me laugh al the time and Mostly Will.Blunk has the opposite effect on me. They made his character a little too child-like, so he ends up doing stupid things that's supposed to be cute and funny, but I find his actions to be more of an annoyance instead of comical. He is equivalent to Jar Jar Binks. Another thing I don't like are the light blue/green striped leggings the doesn't look good. They should have just stuck with a solid color as opposed to alternating ones. And the snake villain always talking with a SSSS. Frick, I can't even remember when there was villain in snake form that didin't do that stupid SSSS thing.
Other then those areas, the rest of the show is pretty strong.

Hopefully, Blunk dies along with the Meridian storyline when they more into Nerissa's Revenge in the second season.

Hey, now, what's with the Blunk hate? True, he's the type of character that could've fallen into Jar Jar territory, but he manages to remain funny.

Other then those areas, the rest of the show is pretty strong. In the show the leggings indeed look terrible, but it has technical reasons. I don't know if you like the original leggings or not, but it's a standard colour combination the Guardians have: purple, dark green and stripes of light blue/green on the leggings or stockings (originally Hay Lin has stockings reaching to the knees.)
This is one of the best pictures of the Guardians:

You also see the shoes and boots they wear are better than those in the show.
About the hissing snake thing: it's the normal shape of Cedric. All other shapes are transformations. In the comics and the books he doesn't hiss at all.

This is probably one of the best shows on Saturday mornings.
If it can get me, a twentysomething male to pay attention to it and actively make time out of his schedule to watch it, there's something going for it.
So far, the writing is the strongest part of it. Considering what it can get away with in its target demographic, I'm impressed. The general art style isn't bad to look at either, but I can see obvious cut corners. A good all-around package, though. Too bad it's caught in the schedule roulette.

Is the animation a straight converision of the comics, or are they a differnt thing alltogether.
Also, is there only one comic series? Or is there more?, something that seems to happen a lot with comics

Is the animation a straight converision of the comics, or are they a differnt thing alltogether. It is a conversion with a lot of differences. By example, forget about Blunk and the tracker in the comics. They just don't belong to W.I.T.C.H. And Yan Lin is supposed to be DEAD! Visit my website if you want more info!
Also, is there only one comic series? Or is there more?, something that seems to happen a lot with comicsThere is one comic series consisting of sagas of 12 issues each. In Italy the fifth saga has begun with the 49th issue.
But depending per nation there are specials, like "A year before".

Is the animation a straight converision of the comics, or are they a differnt thing alltogether. The basic premise is the same, but aside from that they're completely different in terms of character development, plot progression, and story dynamics.

I don't even know where you can find 32 in English!:sad: I just started to get those grafic novels at like Barnes and Noble which are taking forever to come out over here! Speaking of which, the 14th book should be comming out soon... Just like Martin said, Yan Lin is supposed to be dead. Although I'm not sure they'll cut her out so soon, if they do at all(if they don't then they'll mess up the story!) Maybe they'll wait until the whole Meridian thing actually starts kicking up to gear when the "princess" goes to the dark side. They also put Caleb in on the very first show even though he wasn't supposed to be there until much later. I don't mind at all because I like Caleb! He has a lot of action and I like his voice on the show. Plus, they got to start on the *Cornelia+Caleb*(you know!) relationship early. Too bad for the sad events that happen later...:crying:

Now read this carefully! I've seen a spoiler picture of the show. I don't know in what future episode it will happen, but it's worthful to take attention to. The producers have made a joke! On a certain moment a transformed Will is being seen in the classroom, and no one cares about it. So keep your VCRs standby!

Or they just think it's a costume..
Or she did what Irma doe in the comics and tries to flirt with boys ;)
lilshowtout91
04-21-2005, 08:45 PM
I doubt it. Will isn't like that. She's more of the kind of girl to make sure everything goes together with the girls, being the leader and everything.
Also, Will was the one who scolded her when she found out that Irma transformed to flirt with Andrew Hornby, again!
Martin
04-21-2005, 08:51 PM
I'm not kidding. The picture was on a French website, but it has been removed. So I can forget about any evidence. And again, it's a joke of the producers, not an action of Wills' own initiative! I've seen such a joke in a non-Disney show. A boy facing the tv-watcher turned his head showing his profile. Only then you could see his three-foot nose.

I had really been looking forward to WITCH coming to the US. Man, was I disappointed when I didn't like it. It doesn't work at all for me. Love the premise. *Love* the character designs (in the comics). *Love* the comics. Can't stand the toon.
The voice acting came off as really subpar to me. It could have something to do with the dialogue. It all feels so forced. The dialogue makes the characters feel one-dimensional. Shallow. The show's character designs and the animation feel stiff too. Being an artist and having been trained in animation, it pains me a bit to watch it.
Ah well. I swear. I really did want to like it. =(

I don't think it's been 'confirmed' they're editing the comics, but they've edited the comic inserts in the chapter books (such as them being naked when they transform) and some other 'revealing' scenes. So it's assumed the comics will be altered a bit.

Those Elders or Sages (it doesn't matter how you call them) don't seem to feel ashamed that much. But they already live for thousands of years, maybe that explains enough. It's also important to know they all are aliens! As a joke once one of them was depicted as a fish in its bowl.

I've heard that some people don't like the guardians's striped tights. They don't really look as good as they did in the comics do they?
I have to admit that when I first saw a poster for them in April last year, I wondered why they had different colored tights. Then I just thought that the drawings were unique like that and I decided to give the first two books a try.
I'm glad I did!:D

Yeah. I learned to like them. It gives the girls a cool sense of style that I don't see often. It was like a big billboard with all of them on it with the first seven WITCH books there. I'm happy that the fourteenth WITCH book is coming out on Sunday. It makes me feel bad that the kids in the United States are way behind on the story because we have chapter books. It's okay though because we're starting to get the graphic novels along with the WITCH books, WITCH Adventure books, and the Secrets and Friends.:D

I've been wondering the same thing. I'm confused about why on the show they want Will to seem like a big strong leader(which she is) but they don't ever show her using her powers. All she does is bring out the Heart of Candracar, tries to beat up the bad guy, gets captured, and says a couple funny lines. She has great leadership qualities, but that doesn't seem that great compared to the other girls.
As to about the Halloween party, I have no clue why it hasn't been in the show or if it even will be. If it is, the show doesn't really seem to go in order of the books does it?
