I was looking at the preview for JL #2 and the art looks pretty slick. It's cool to see Craig Rousseau's version of J'onn, Wonder Woman, and Flash. Looks like it'll be a great issue, especially with Storrie writing it...

I agree. The art looks so much better than in the first issue.

Craig Rousseau is one of my favorite comic artists. I already miss BATMAN BEYOND. And his work on TELLOS: LAST HEIST was just fantastic. (Tellos, BTW, is my favorite comic. I am eternally grateful to Todd Dezago and Mike Wieringo.) And now Craig does Justice League. I can't wait.

YES!!! I'm glad to see some Rousseau sporters on the board! I loved his work on the BB series, and the few issues of B:GA he's done as well. JL #2 looks like it'll be added to that list...

Oh YEAH, baby!! I've gotten to talk with him via email and the occasional post on the Tellos.com message boards. I'd LOVE to meet the guy in real life someday. I just love his style. (Believe me, I can't tell you how thrilled I was at TELLOS: LAST HEIST. One of my favorite pencillers doing a one-shot of one of my favorite comics. It doesn't get better than that.) I actually preferred his version of Batman Beyond over Rick Burchett's (not that Rick Burchett's was bad, mind you).
And just in case you didn't know, here's the link to Craig's website... www.craigrousseau.com (http://www.craigrousseau.com)
Check out the unused BATMAN BEYOND comic by him and Hilary Barta featuring the Terrific Trio! Great stuff.

Somebody mention my name?
Hey gang, sorry it's taken me so long to pop around the boards again. Been having some major computer problems and...
Oh, yeah. I've been busy writing the 5 issue Gotham Girls mini-series for DC!
I gotta say that I'm very jazzed about JL Adv. #2. It's great to see Craig's interpretation of my words again. Hopefully he and I will get more chances to work together in the near future.
Once Issue Two hits the stands I hope to hear everyone's opinion of the story. (We already know Craig's art is going to be terrific, right?)

Great to see you on the boards again, Mr. Storrie! I'm really looking forward to this issue. And you two have got to work together more often, if the preview is any indication, this is going to be just as good if not better than the excellent BB #23....

Please, feel free to just call me Paul.

Paul! I didn't know you posted on these boards. (Of course, according to the boards, I just got promoted from "newbie" to "member," so I haven't exactly been here long.) I enjoyed your previous teaming with Craig (BB #23), so I am looking forward to seeing JL #2.

Haven't posted here in awhile, so it's not surprising that you haven't noticed me around the boards lately.
Glad you liked BB #23, Fig. Hopefully you'll find JL Adv. #2 just as entertaining.

It's really great to see you on the boards, and I am sooo glad you kept the whole Gotham Girls secret as long as you did! I really want to chat about it, but I guess we should do it on the Batman board.
I'm interested in seeing the preview for JL #2, but...Where is it?

I'd probably have blabbed about Gotham Girls earlier on but DC, wisely, tries not to reveal too much about their projects until they're underway.
The preview for JL Adv. #2 was on the [website name removed] website last Thursday. Check it out at the url: [website link removed]
Or you could just wait until next Wednesday!

I figured it out on my own, but thanks anyways! Rousseau's art is actually pretty good here. J'onzz was a good main character for him to draw - he suits his style. The story, Mr. Storrie (You must have gotten picked on a lot as a kid about that pun!) seems very intruiging to me, as I am hoping for Wonder Woman to be a little more in the spotlight of the show, seeing as how she, despite being a legendary comics icon, unjustly never got her own show. Those snake-woman look an awful lot like....should I say it? I won't, in case I picked up on something that could ruin the plot. I'm confident this issue will be a vast improvement over number one! Oh, and Welcome Back!!!

Dis,
Yeah, I used to get a certain amount of teasing about the name. Now it's more along the lines of, "Storrie? And you're a writer? Get it?" (Like I could POSSIBLY have missed it!)
Sorry to say that Diana doesn't really get much time in the spotlight in Issue Two. No more than anyone else, except for J'onn.
As for the snake women, to paraphrase Inigo Montoya in The Princess Bride, "I do no think they mean what you think they mean."

Wow!
JL no.2 is a quantum leap in quality compared to the first issue. (from what I've seen of the preview anyways).
I've always liked seeing the animated style done in big panels. Its why I like Tim Levins work and really couldnt get into the first issue of JL. The Timm mojo even when channeled through artist who bring their own unique flavor to it, shines when can be set free across the page.
Paul, not meaning to put you on the spot but I had a question for you.
Breezing these boards, you've probably noticed that alot of us really like the (for lack of a better term) TASDCU as a wonderful alternative to mainline.
Its seems to me and many others though, that the animated line is treated a bit like the forgotten children of DC Comics. At least from our vantage point they dont seem willing to invest alot of time and promotion and talent into it. Though let me say the people they have clearly do work very hard at it and there are alot talented people involved.
I was wondering if you had any insights as to why that is and wether or not it would be likely to change?
My feeling is that if DC can have multiple imprints and Marvel can have congruent continuities, then why not put more time, power, and attention to the TAS books?
Anyway, I thank you sincerely for taking the time to answer this question.

Matt,
I can't speak for DC but I imagine it all ends up as a matter of economics. If the Animated Series books sell, they stick around. If they don't sell, they don't. After all, at the end of the day, DC (and Marvel) are businesses and they need to be profitable.

Paul,
Thank you very much for the reply.
I guess the point I was trying to get at is that DC gives the impression that they arent willing to do a whole lot to *help* the books be profitable.
I'm hoping however that artist like yourself submitting stand alone projects set in the TAS world would actually start the ball rolling.
Perhaps, the TAS comics could get the very boost they need in the graphic novel and tpb realm rather than as 22 page monthlies.

Matt,
I suppose I can see your point regarding the help (by which I presume you mean marketing) for the TAS titles. It may be, however, that spending the time, energy and money on such titles (in the past) hasn't produced the kind of results DC was hoping for. If that's the case then spending more resources on TAS titles would only result in them being less profitable.
Again, I have to point out this is ENTIRELY conjecture on MY part. I'm not privy to DC's sales figures and marketing strategies.
It's possible that stand along projects like Gotham Girls might be a way for TAS titles to stay alive if the monthlies aren't doing well enough to keep going. Buy lots of copies of Gotham Girls and we'll see. ;-)
I tend to disagree with you that TAS comics would be better served / boosted by graphic novels (although tpb's can almost never hurt). It seems to me that TAS comics are the PERFECT ones to remain in the 22 page pamplet format and be targeted towards kids at a price point they can afford. If we can get kids hooked on cool, fun, self-contained stories then they'll more likely grow up to be comics reading adults, willing to pick up trades, graphic novels and "mature readers" comics in the long run.

Issue #4 is Wonder Woman's spotlight issue. Go to http://wf.toonzone.net/bbeyond/previews.htm to check out the cover and info on it. I think this issue definatly looks like it'll be good. I really like the animated version of MM - the design just fits.
