It's sad. A real shame too.

We won't be able to air episode 3 of Lupin because we don't have rights to it. Also, we don't have episode 28 - 52; they were never made available to us. Sorry. So is William Street saying the reason they could not air more Lupin episodes was because they were not offered to contract to air more episodes...
By the way, Ep 03 of Lupin was released one of the DVDs, not first one, but one of them, I am just not sure which one.

Ep. 3 was out with volume 5.
This is the second occassion that Kim Manning said that the reason no new episodes of Lupin will air on adult swim is because they weren't offered to them.
A few months ago she said that if Geneon were to offer new episodes of Lupin, adult swim would get them.

Uhh, what are they airing then? They had [comment removed because of advance schedule information], episode 3 of which is being labelled a premiere. Gold Smuggling 101 has moved back to its original production order of #5. What does that look like to you?
I'm not calling you a liar, I'm just questioning Kim Manning.

That's funny, I remember Geneon at a convention saying they DID offer new episodes of Lupin and Adult Swim did NOT get them.

Too bad, but I don't think it's anything to cry about. It's not like it would a great episode. Personally, I'd prefer another 13 episodes.

My thoughts exactly. Seems like bull, but if it doesn't air, Lupin fans will go up in arms I'm sure.

Manning probably doesn't want people to know that CN will be airing a show with Nazis on it. There's got to be a reason why this is premiering at 5 AM. They want to air it once under the radar to meet contractual obligations and never air it again. Get out your VCRs.

I'm confused. Was it Pioneer who didn't want to distribute it, or was it Adult Swim who didn't want to air it?

An average of 255,000 at the 1:30 a.m. slot for repeats is not something to sneeze at.

It boggles the mind. Maybe it is: "They wouldn't offer the show [for less than $X]," vs. "They wouldn't accept the show [for more than $Y],"
There are better ways to communicate that. Is there some PR reason the parties feel the need to place blame on the other party?
ETA: If the cards were to be believed (heh) WS considered Lupin reruns to be "bombing".

But let's pray that it was a simple miscommunication which both side thought the other side didn't want to air new episodes of Lupin III.
Guys I think the best approach is to send Williams Street, copies of Geneon's statements that Geneon wants to offer Williams Street more Lupin III episodes to air on Adult Swim.
And at the same time, we send Geneon, copies of Williams Street's statements that WS wants to air more Lupin III episodes.
If we are lucky, we might yet see more episode of Lupin III air on Adult Swim. :zim:

Or maybe they were offered the show and bought more eps. and can't say anything because it hasn't been officially announced yet. *cough*Futurama*cough*
So much speculation at this point...we won't know for certain for unless AS says something. I don't see how they could have put To Be Or Nazi Be on the schedule if they didn't have it yet. They've done stuff like this before, and it's never turned out to be a mistake. TZ has gotten in big trouble because CN forgot that TZ got their grids and was able to break news before them. It's especially suspicious that the AS site hasn't updated their schedule to May...if there were any changes to be announced, they'd have to announce them before updating the online schedule.

Perhaps you are right, but if those are great ratings then AS would obviously be rushing to acquire more episodes. If they are not doing that, then they must be dissatisfied with something.

Mike Lazzo:*achoo*lol :D Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't GitS get ratings around 255,000 as well? A little higher, I believe, maybe 280,000, but still around there? 255,000 were Lupin's average ratings during its last run, which means some episodes got higher numbers than that.
GitS is getting a second season. Something's up. AS is hiding something, or there's a big miscommunication between AS, Geneon, and the fans.

Try closer to 400,000. Sure it has its off weeks, but that's where it probably weighs in judging by Rabi's averages.

400,000 were its highest or its average? Also, GitS airs on a great slot on Saturdays, with new episodes. Lupin's average of 255,000 was for reruns of reruns of reruns at 1:30 weeknights!

This is all too confusing. I mean I have tons of the Lupin DVDs (including "To Be or Nazi Be" and other unaired episodes) butI think it would be nice for those less fortunate to see these episodes. They're pretty funny. I'm surprised Kim said they would pick up more episodes if offered though. I mean paying for more episodes of a show that would premiere at 5 AM (it makes sense for a show like TF Energon because they already paid for those) and wouldn't receive many viewers. Maybe she's thinking they could get those at a bargain price?
If that's the case, maybe we could see some more Case Closed? (hoping too much...) If they do have the 3rd episode, awesome, if not oh well. I'd reccommend people buying the DVDs, it's a funny show and very entertaining.

We've learned something at this board. If you mention something "special" that CN will be airing often and especially to someone who could take notice that this is not "the norm" then it wont happen. So don't speak and see what happens.

CNs 5 step plan to shutdown TZ
1) can't speak about potential edits
2) can't speak about schedules to far into the future
3) can't speak about specials
4) can't speak about upcoming series
5) can't speak about anything at all

according to toonzone the episode will be new, maybe WS is under contractual obligations to show it, i guess I will be staying up to 4 30 am to watch it, then we can have a talkback about it haha. Lets start writting letters to the FCC now, put down some really good stuff, that'll teach em to hide an episode from us/ not renew a good series =).

The point is if there's all this outcry CN considering showing a program that has Nazi's in it, where the heck was the outcry over all the Three Stooges shorts that still air on television? Granted those were shot during WWII but STILL...it ain't taboo to look back and mock the people who became them.
