Jack was curious about the opening/closing titles to Hanna-Barbera's Loopy De Loop cartoons (which were released theatrically by Columbia Pictures) a few weeks ago. Here is what they look like, Jack:

Opening titles: Picture 1 (http://looney.toonzone.net/picts/loopy-01.jpg) | Picture 2 (http://looney.toonzone.net/picts/loopy-02.jpg) | Picture 3 (http://looney.toonzone.net/picts/loopy-03.jpg)

Closing titles: Picture 1 (http://looney.toonzone.net/picts/loopy-04.jpg) | Picture 2 (http://looney.toonzone.net/picts/loopy-05.jpg) | Picture 3 (http://looney.toonzone.net/picts/loopy-06.jpg) | Picture 4 (http://looney.toonzone.net/picts/loopy-07.jpg) | Picture 5 (http://looney.toonzone.net/picts/loopy-08.jpg)

Of course, pictures 3 & 4 usually varied from cartoon - to- cartoon.

For those with Boomerang, they are running one Loopy De Loop cartoon during the Snagglepuss show every Monday - Thursday.

Thanks Jon! Strangely, I don't really remember seeing many of those. Maybe they cut off the theatrical titles when I saw them last.

It's interesting just how much the Loopy cartoons look like the TV cartoons H-B made at the same time, right down to the style of the titles.

Well, the credits ended the cartoon, unlike them being at the opening of the cartoon, like all the other H-B cartoons. The Walter Lantz studio did that format for a few years in the early forties.

Ironically, when CBS started running Tom & Jerry as part of their Saturday morning line-up, that's also the way MGM ran the credits -- Short opening title over the ending music from the original cartoon, and at the end, where "The End" and "A Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer" cartoon went, the Jones unit created new title credits. The move by MGM was made after Columbia stopped distributing the Loopy De Loop theatricals.
