CN UK have announced they're going to be showing the series soon, but in a country where modern Japanese culture hasn't quite reached yet, would you say it's a good idea? The ratings are most likely going to be terrible compared to US ones, but what do you think?

Well it sucks in america and I dont think in the uk(or any other country) it will be any different.

Mostly any music from anywhere that is not from the US, North America, or UK will suck or won't reach us. However, in my opinion, Puffy AmiYumi will be a hit in the UK and say hello to Japan culture invasion.:)

How can I phrase this? Puffy Ami Yumi is about as Americanized as they come. Aside from the intro and outros by the band, the cartoon is a flash version of "Starfire and Raven go on tour". Its cute, harmless, and the voice actors speak perfect Amercianize english. I wouldn't know it was based off of a Japanese band unless Ami and Yumi were hosting it.
Despite that, I don't hate the series. If anything its a nice break from seeing another rerun.

Well, the only thing I can say is wait and see how this series does in the UK. The show has already premiered in Japan, and it will premiere in Latin America next Friday.

Define "Americanized" and "Americianeze". And why is that bad? Also what makes say, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends less so?

Ok, Puffy Ami Yumi is a Japanese rock band. Their animated series is about two American girls on tour. Puffy Ami Yumi are a mix of punk rock style with subtle speaking voice and humor of traditional Japanese culture. The cartoon series almost wiped the characters clean of any enthnicity. This works against the show in my opinion. The characters appear somewhat generic compared to their live-action counterparts.

Usually when a new show comes into the lineup, they take one out. I wonder what Puffy is going to replace? Or, thinking optimistically, they might not as they may want to become more like CN US. They're actually saying "You're watching all-new Cartoon Network" now, so maybe it actually is going to be all-new over time and this is the first step.

Since its on at 4, it'll be replacing Dexter's Lab... which in my opinion is a terrible shame. Still... I can't get that theme tune out of my head. It's really anoying :p

Then again, he has had a huuuuuuge run now. As far as I know he's never been cancelled and always has been going strong since he started. I hope they at least give him 1 major slot.

Dexter will still be on at the other times of the day (6:00, 9:00, 12:30, 20:00 and 22:50). It's just the 4:30 slot that's being replaced by HHPAY.

I bet CNUK will be first to show the surfing episode "Tsunami AmiYumi" (which CN pulled from its schedule because...well, read the title!)

Go on http://europe.turnerinfo.com Go on Cartoon Network, then Schedules, then Next month. HHPAY starts on May 9th, so the Dexter drop will only happen then.
CN do release schedules. You just have to look in the right places ;)

They're actually showing the episodes on Cartoon Network Japan with Japanese subtitles. And no, it says so at their website.

I think 3 Puffyami w/e threads are enough, the shows not that interesting, all of this could go into one giant thread (or the talkback threads).
