Well, it seems there's a new member titled the toon master. As you know, I'm Toonmaster.

What action should I take to make sure there is no confusion or tension here?

I should link you to my earlier post, or just quote it. I'll do both:

http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?t=138807

the toon master, eh? We're going to have some problems here...

A good number of Toon Zone posters know me (Toonmaster) and recognize my name by title. If a new toon master comes along, then much confusion is going to ensue. And, on top of that, I'm going to be angry that a newbie of April 2005 has taken the name I've worked since May 2003 to make reputable. Now, trust me, I don't want people to think I've taken up a new username and abandoned my old one, because I'll be here for a long, long while.

The only thing I ask of you, the toon master, is that you change your name to something else. Now, considering the circumstances, the moderators (who will be very, very confused) might choose to change your name (seeing as how there is too much similarity in our names and this similarity is bound to confuse people. Posters, and frequenters, will mix up my rep with yours, and I don't want any confusion around here (even though much is bound to happen without this name thing going on here).

So, after reading this statement, such a statement I would only make in times of urgency (because I usually only type two- or three-lined paragraphs), please consider modifying your name so that it will not be as similar as the one I had created a while back, and have had entities tie in with such a name (although I may not be the first person to come up with the title Toonmaster, I sure have done something nice with it [that you may see in the future {straying very off-topic here}]).

I hope this wasn't much of a hassle for you to read. It should not be.

NOTE: PM'ed to the toon master around 6:40p.

And, to the moderators, please understand the terms here, I don't, and I'm pretty sure you'd be upset if someone else had a name so similar to yours that you just had to say something about it.

These are pretty odd terms here. I don't expect something like this to happen for a while again here at the Toon Zone Forums.

What action should I take to make sure there is no confusion or tension here?I don't see why you need to do anything. If so many people know of you, like you more or less said, then it shouldn't be a problem. There are tons of members here, even some with aliases similar to a few of the moderators' aliases, so you're not the first... nor will you be the last.

I think you're making a mountain out of an anthill here.

Like Kurt said before, the people who know you already aren't going to get you confused with anyone anytime soon. Hell, all the people with a variation of Kenshin or Batman or whoever in their names are getting along fine. And I haven't confused you with anyone; that's a good start.

Furthermore, It's only a website. Even if someone does get you mixed up with the newbie, who cares? Is your "reputation" really going to take that much of a hit because of what someone with a similar name does? Is a reputation on a website really that important? Even if the toon master does act up and gets into hot water with the mods, I doubt you have to worry about aciddently getting a warning or something of that nature. And if you truly are that concerned with people not recognizing you, Hey!, that's what sigs and avatars are for. They will help you stand out a little more if you think that's what you need.

So I really see no problem here. Just continue to do what it is you do and everything should be fine.

I should have named this thread A Tale of Two Toonmasters.

I guess you two are right, though. Nothing will need to be done in this situation... it's just that the names are so similar. Toonmaster. toon master. Eh, one has a the in the front, and no capital letters. I'll have to deal with it, I suppose.

Hmm, how does the name kurt_wagner sound to you?

Kylewayne. :DHah, I thought of her too. Yes, there's definitely lots of similar names on TZ. Most people still can't spell SJJ right. =/

Oh, there's two of you now? [/jk]
It's a small distinction, but easily seen by even the most myopic.

This reminds me of the time there was another Gigan...backbefore the alien land was ruled by laws an moderators...and everything was EZ...
Each time I see an avatar of Asuka....I have flashbacks and fits...

Dark times, indeed...

Strangely enough, we got along fairly well...it's just that there was infighting on the staff who ran the boards and everything went to hell...
