Just to inform everyone, bestbuy has raised the prices for their anime DVDs to regular marked sales price. A prime example of this are the anime essentials, they used to be 11.99 but are now up to 15.99. Also if you take a look at Scrapped Princess Vol.2 LE, they are charging $11 more for it than Vol.1, even though they are pretty much the same package(vol.2 comes with a different PVC however.). Also many regular series like Read or Die are no longer 20 bucks, but instead are 25 bucks.

That's too bad. And it might affect me more if most of my anime purchases weren't online. Ah well, back to Deep Discount...

Sometimes aine DVD prices fluctuate within releases. When I was buying Tenchi GXP I noticed that some cost $16.99 then $19.99 then back to $16.99. it was weird, but no major cause for alarm.

Yeah, I noticed. Galaxy Angel Z Vol. 2 is now $23.99, for example.

This sucks! I buy all my anime at Best Buy and now I'll have to pay more.
Maybe I'll get lucky and this will bite Best Buy in the ass later on. After all, if they want to compete with online stores and downloading, they have to have an edge like lower prices or anime sales will go down.
That's too bad. And it might affect me more if most of my anime purchases weren't online. I know most anime fans like to shop online. But the computer simply can't replace the experience of a good shopping trip. Especially a shopping trip with friends.
...Then again, maybe thats just the valley girl in me talking. :p

Bah I don't like to shop online really because I have to wait to recieve the items that and sometimes shipping costs come into play...when I want it, I want it now...and preferibly at a severely discounted price...

Ah crap... That means it'll be in 20's for DBZ DVD's again. I'm never gonna finish the Cell Games collection.
Dang this'll effect TMNT DVD's as well. Now they'll be around 16 rather than 11. Bah... I guess it was too good to last.

... DUCK! (Replace the 'D' with an 'F' and you'll find my feelings on the matter.)
Well, I'm certainly in a pickle. Best Buy was my last hope. :(

Buying online sucks! I don't trust anything I cna't hold in my hands (and test to see if it's not jiggling around int he case)
everyone's jsut a tad too downtrodden here. Bestbuy may have upped the prices, but I guarantee you, everywhere else these disks are still and unholy price.

After hearing this news about Best Buy raising their prices on Anime, I may shop around elsewhere for good deals, and only buy Anime from Best Buy as a last resort.

Heh. Sticking with Suncoast and it's Replay rewards program wins in the end. :DVolusia Mall lost their Suncost a few years ago. The closest one (to me anyway) is in Sanford's mall. Even so, I could never fully convince myself to sign up for one of those programs. Maybe it has something to do with my inability to trust.

It still aggrivates me to think about how Best Buy bought them out just so they could could shut down the stores that they felt were a threat, including the one at the mall. They did the same friggin thing to the local Media Play, too.
At the time I was hoping to get a job at that Suncoast so I could work with that cute girl they had working the register. :o
Oh, and I was signed up for their rewards thing. Nothing but good clean savings. :D

It's not a total loss, though- Suncoast often has sales on newly released anime titles for a week or so. So if you're finding that Evangelion Platinum Vol. 7 is $24.95 at BB, for example, try shopping at Suncoast on the week it's released and it's very possible that you'll find it on sale for $19.99, even though their usual price for anime is $29.99.
Nope, Suncoasts prices are still a tad higher than BB's raised prices
that's even with replay benefitsThat's if you don't get it the week it's released, thus getting it on sale.
Best Buy usually gets it in early though...

Went by today, didn't see any sign of a price "jack". In fact, they had the Full Metal Panic box set (not even out yet, I don't think) cheaper than I could get it online. Not that I picked it up, but still.
Gigan, where did you hear about/see this?

It also depends on the Best Buy. For example:
Gunparade March DVD boxset
List Price - $79.95 (RareFlix.com)
BB at North Hills Village (Pittsburgh, PA) - $60
BB at Century III (other side of Pittsburgh) - $65
BB at Cranberry (Cranberry Twp., PA) - $55
BB at Penn State (State College, PA) - $20
See what I mean? If there really was a price hike, it could have just been for your area.

Aww.. s**t...
This really, really sucks. I buy stuff from Bestbuy ALOT, and now this? Glad I got all of Devil Lady for 17 bucks when I did.
Well, if it helps, FYE is having a sale of sorts. If you buy $30 worth of stuff... you get $10 off any purchase made the week of May 9th.
I know their prices are sky high, but if you can find ANYTHING that's decently priced, this can be manipulated into a good deal.

I was up at Best Buy picking up Eva Plat 7 and Scrapped Princess 1 and the only price jacks I noticed were for Porco Rosso and Cat Returns ($19.99 > $28.99). They even lowered the price on the Gundam SEED starter box ($44.99? > $23.99).

That's why patience is a virtue. By enduring the wait of online shopping at DeepDiscountDVD you will have more money in the long run. Save five bucks here and there and you can get yourself a Zeta Gundam box set in no time.
Then again if you have a job, I can see how you would want to get things right away.

I don't buy my anime DVDs at BB, anyway. (It's more fun to beat the local Wal-Nut out of a couple of bucks with the BB sale ads!:D ) And I haven't bought any anime since Suncoast at the Middletown Galleria went bye-bye.
I, too, have discovered online shopping at RightStuf and the occasional ADV Films sale.
