DC comics scraps the Humanoids and 2000ad lines (http://newsarama.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=31542).
Well, that's what you get for poor marketing... Hopefully Rebellion will continue the 2000ad lines in the UK on their own, as they were cracking stuff...

Howdy,
Brian Hibbs of San Francisco's Comix Experience pinpointed what I think was DC's problem with this initiative (http://www.newsarama.com/Tilting2_0/Tilting16.htm) (and with CMX, for that matter): too much product in too short a time.
Any given month, I was confronted with about 3-6 TPBs each from Humanoids and 2000 AD, along with the other offerings from all the other comic book companies. Inevitably, it came down to having X comics on pre-order when I could only afford X-5. The other comics had previews. The Humanoids and 2000AD stuff didn't (or didn't have it easily findable).
Guess which ones got punted more often than not.
It also didn't help that, of the 3 Humanoids books that managed to make the cut, one got cancelled (Milo Manara's Odyssey of Giuseppe Bergman) and one was terrible (Enki Bilal's Townscapes -- striking artwork in a story that I couldn't plow through after repeated attempts). I did like The Bouncer: Raising Cain, and wanted to try out some of the 2000 AD stuff, but just never made it that far. The few times I got a preview of a lot of the other books (Rogue Trooper comes to mind), I discovered I didn't care for what I saw.
2000 AD's stuff will still be distributed by Rebellion (http://www.2000adreview.co.uk/news/2005/2000adnewsround1304.shtml), apparently, which means I get another shot at Judge Dredd, I suppose. I'm really hoping Humanoids or someone else brings back their stuff, at the proper size.
