S.P.D. Emergency!
Power Rangers Space Patrol Delta "Stakeout" WORLD PREMIERE
Previously, on Power Rangers SPD! The heroes on your side (the heroes for all time) out to save the universe, no matter where you are, if it's near or far, you could call out A-Squad Space Patrol! But there's a new team of cadets, the B-Squad Power Rangers, Jack, Z, Sky, Syd, and Bridge. Commander Crugger has chosen Jack to be the Red B-Squad Ranger... but was his choice made too soon? Jack had to battle his ego trip, but in the end proved himself to be the Red Ranger to all... but Sky. Reeling from the fact that he neither got a new cycle and still wasn't the Red Ranger, Sky accidentally allowed Gruumm to get his hands on a new power source. It took the new R.I.C. 2.0 to save the day after that, and Bridge's intution to stop a bank robber the next. Soon after, a child with ties to SPD's past, Sam, joined the Academy, while a man with ties to Sky's past, Dru, return to the Academy with horrible results, with an assassination attempt on Crugger.
Today, on Power Rangers SPD!
... I've got no idea. I never caught the promo. Maybe I did, and I just don't remember. Anyway, there is a stakeout. I can assume from the title what episode of Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger this is based on, but who knows. Ten to one odds we'll see a criminal be arrested. Next week is the real interesting stuff... let's just say "Shadow"...
S.P.D. Ranger Facts 101-
The episode "Idol" was almost scene-by-scene recreation of an episode of Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger, easily 85% of the same story. This gels with the fact that every series must have a certain percentage of Japanese footage to equal out the American footage. Given the amount of American footage early on, they most likely had to do a heavily Japanese episode to set the scales.
Ranger Question Of The Week-
Why haven't you preordered Devon's Ghost: Legend Of The Bloody Boy? kermitfries would really like you to.
A decent episode, but the one-timer Dr.'s acting was really, really horrible.

Good episode. Poor Jack does'nt know when his birthday is :(.
Next week: Krueger kicking ass and taking names with his shadow sword.

This week's episode was decent. We got some good character development for Jack, and it was cool to learn more about him, and working on his and Sydney's friendship. At the beginning, Jack comes off as a jerk, but you start to understand him as time goes on. It was also good to see the Rangers out of uniform this week, and the party scene at the end.
Although, I enjoyed this episode for the characters, the plot wasn't all that engaging. I loved the reference to K0-35, and makes sense that the Blue Senturion would be in the video game at the Academy, considering he probably helped put it together. I was sort of disappointed to see Piggy, but at least he wasn't that annoying this week. But he's pretty much an annoying character.
I also think the lack of involvement with the main villains really shows, as it always feels like there was something missing without their involvement. I know it may be difficult to find something for them to do every week, but I've noticed they add more to the plot.
Next week looks like the beginning of what we've all been waiting for.

Hey, KO-35 still exists, and so does the Blue Senturion... sort of.
Really, potentially the weakest episode of the season so far.

LOVED it. I think any reference to the PR Universe almost instantly gives me a nerd-gasm. The KO-34 mention was awesome.
I thought the character interaction in this episode was great, but I'm definately no fan of Piggy's.
Fights were pretty good.
Jack and Syd's chemistry makes me long for an intra-team romance. We haven't gotten a good one of those since Wes and Jen.
Great episode, but the next looks to be balls to the wall spectacular with Anubis getting his sword and standing with it drawn and unmorphed.
This I can't wait to see. :anime:

That's KO-35.
Is it just me, or are all these references to previous series just thrown in without much thought? Everything just seems very haphazard to me...

This episode was okay. It would have worked better as a 2 parter though as it seemed quite rushed. I missed the KO-35 reference though, what part did that show up in?
Also, did anyone else notice the dr looked like a relative to Z?

I missed the KO-35 reference though, what part did that show up in? The criminal (Tsukumo?) had broken out, and destroyed, the KO-35 moon/asteroid/space/whatever penal colony.

I do agree that I wish they'd put at least a little thought into it, but then again.. they could just not do it at all. So, with what they've done, I'm pretty happy. :)

Something tells me their referencing the older seasons (Space specifically) isn't just a coincidence. First the A-squad helmet designs, then Cruegger dressed like Andros and using a spiral saber, and their specifically mentioning KO-35 wasn't just thrown in for old time's sake. With the A-squad helmets, they had to go out and make new ones, since I thought MMPR Productions sold all the old props before heading to New Zealand. I think they're building toward something. Might not be something big like Doggie was on KO-35 when it was invaded, but it is more than just a passing reference.
I'll admit other things like the Aquitian, the Goranger pic on Sky's table, and the video game are all nods to the older viewers who can remember/know such details. I mean, I watched Walls three times and still didn't notice the Goranger pic until someone on the net pointed it out :).
Still, there are some things that will cause me to forever take a point off the series as a whole if they are not addressed.
1. Z's last name is Delgado. The only other Delgado on PR was Danny from Wildforce and there is no need to recycle a name unless there is a specific reason.
2. The S.P.D. zords look too similar to Lightspeed for it not to influenced by it in some way.
3. I want to know the final fates of their parents. We know some are still alive and well and others (like Jack and Z's) we know virtually nothing about. Considering that Jack doesn't even know his birthday must mean they were not in his life.
But they're only 1/3 of the way through the series, so I am patient.
And I know I'm rambling now, but since this season is set in 2020, when will the next season be set; in the past or the future of S.P.D.

Hmmmm, it will be quite difficult to place the MagiRanger universe into the Power Ranger world, but I think they will do it by putting back in the past. After all, LSR technically took place while the Terra Venture was searching for a new homeworld, and then we all know around the time when the end of LG would have happened thanks to the team up.
