I've been reading the following rumor on all corners of the Web lately. Is it true?
I've read that the following DVDs will be coming out in April 2002:
1. Justice League, "Secret Origins"
2. Batman/Superman, "World's Finest"
3. Batman Beyond, "Return of the Joker" (UNCUT!)
If this is true, then I need to get down to Suncoast and reserve my copies of each as soon as I can. :D
To those who reply, thanks for the help!

A-yup. I believe Bruce Timm has confirmed each and every one of those (not positive if he confirmed WF).

Yeah, WF will be coming to DVD too, I believe later this year, but I am not sure about April. The only two I know that Timm confirmed thus far for April are JL and the first volume of BTAS. But needless to say, this is going to be a great year for us!

Justice League: Secret Origins
Batman: Sub-Zero
Batman/Superman: World's Finest
Batman: Animated Vol. 1

I should know soon what will be on the JL DVD, although I'm sure it'll closely resemble the upcoming Samaurai JACK DVD. It is nice to see these shows jump quickly to DVD.

When you say beginning April...do you mean the first couple releases will be out then then the rest will start coming out during the rest of the year? Cuz if these are all due in April, and taxes are due in April...well, I better start saving money!

They are going to begin rolling out in April. Batman: Animated and Justice League are April 2002, according to Timm, so I assume other discs will following quickly in the coming months.

Is there any possibility that if the first few Batman Animated DVD's are a hit, that WB will release more episodes per DVD in the future? Because as much as I like Batman, I can't shell out 20 dollars per five eps. I might grab a few of the ones I like best, but...I'll just yoink 'em off Cartoon Network for free.
And that's another thing. Is Cartoon Network showing ALL the Batman and Superman episodes as an ongoing series type thing in 2002? Or just in January?

It is believed this first Batamn: Animated DVD is a test to se ehow it'll fair. If it is a success, then count on ALOT more DVDs coming. And Batman & Superman are back for the foreseeable future as of January. Check out the schedule page http://www.toonzone.net/schedules/ for the rundown of B & S on CN.

DG:
Didn't you also report that regular episodes of Justice League would follow the "Secret Origins" release? If so, when will we see these DVDs? Which episodes will be released? Also, will all these releases be on VHS too for those of us who don't have a DVD player?

Yes. But are we going to get more 5 episode DVD's? Or a decent amount. Not that 5 isn't. I'll be there when it comes out. But I can't afford hundreds of dollars for a complete set.
Also, that link you gave me doesn't work. Either way, all I saw was a schedule for January. Is Cartoon Network giving us all the episodes? BTAS, STAS AND TNBA? Because I was one of the few kids without the WB in the late 90's. And I missed all the good TNBA episodes.

More than likely. WB hasn't stopped putting out stuff on VHS tape....yet.

I don't think anybody knows the prices of these DVDs yet, it's just that a SRP of $19.99 seems kinda standard. But most DVDs that get released at a SRP of 19.99 go on for sale quite often for lower. The Battle of the Planets DVDs, for example, are SRP $19.99 but you can usually pick them up for $14.99.
This is also why you seek out good deals on DVDs on line. You can save so much money that way, and it really helps when DVDs are released in a series like this.

I've also heard that there may be some DTV features involving Batman teaming up with other heroes, like Green Arrow. Is this definite, or just one of many projects that WB hasn't said yes to yet?

Let's see if I can answer al of these good questions...*clears throat and cricks neck*
- The link should be http://www.toonzone.net/shows/schedules/
- Given the success of the "Secret Origins" DVD/VHS, WB will likely release more episodes, probably two arcs to a disc. But this depends on the sale sof the first JL DVD. So, no release schedule is known right now.
-CN will now be airing Batman & Superman episodes Monday - Friday instead of Mon - Wednesday. And they will be airing ALL the episodes! The two shows will air back-to-back beginning at 11pm (et) and end at midnight.
-The DTVs are in early stages and look to be happening. There's a pretty lenghty thread dedicated to these topic on the Batman, Superman, & Beyond Board.
-As for now, the DVDs will be five episodes per disc, which isn't that bad. The price will likely be $19.99 but it should be no problem to find it for cheaper, as Cal said, online or in bargain stores.
Whew!
