Yep. For anyone interested, a six page preview of Day of Vengeance #1 (which let the cat out of the bag) can be found here (http://www.dccomics.com/media/excerpts/2846_x.pdf).

She is/was Ray Palmer's (Atom) Girlfriend right?
I seen her in reprints of some of the earlier Atom stories 50s/60s. Could someone give me a profile of the character?
Thanks

Antiyonder, I take it you haven't been following DC for the last year or so...
What Jean's been up to (To everyone else, I hope spoilers aren't necessary at this point):
Jean and Ray married in JLA (First series) #157, then later divorced.
Then in last summer's controversial mini-series, Identity Crisis, Jean murdered Elongated Man's wife Sue in a bizarre plot to get Ray back (despite years of him pining for her). She also manipulated Captain Boomerang and Tim (Robin) Drake's father into killing each other to cover her tracks. When she slipped up and Atom discovered the truth, he locked her up in Arkham Asylum.

To add to the Jean Loring info, in the Silver/Bronze Age, she was employed as a lawyer...
But yes, Krypton710, I didn't see Loring's, um, "fate" mentioned in that spoiler as coming, either. *Yeesh*... then again I always thought of Eclipso as being really lame...no matter how much he's been "powered up" or "made kewl"... (Shakes head)

Bizarre as Jean's fate is, in hindsight there were clues (outside the books).
I'm not claiming I picked up on them, just that it's possible to have seen it coming.
Back during Identity Crisis someone, Meltzer maybe, indicated that a major villain would spin out of the series. When Identity Crisis ended without Jean becoming a villain, I think most people assumed he meant the Calculator.
However, when the sequel, Countdown, was announced, it renewed the question of whether she might yet become a villain.
Combined with the announcement that a new female Eclipso would be appearing in Day of Vengeance, it's possible to guess that it was Jean...
But only if your mind is really warped.
BTW: I agree. Eclipso was lame. At best, an occasional Green Lantern villain.
Maybe Jean and Carol Ferris/Star Sapphire can team up as the Super Girlfriend Villains United. When not committing crimes they can compare their power gems.

Nope, as I mentioned on the forum, I prefer back issues/TPB as opposed to current material. I do make exceptions like Justice League Unlimited and Spider-Girl. I'm also collecting The Age Of Apocalypse Mini, plan to get Infinite Crisis and that Alex Ross comic (don't remember the title) mini series that's suppose to be a Challenge Of The Superfriends update.
Mostly I prefer stories from the 1930's to 1999/2000. Anyway, thanks for the info.

Anyway, thanks for the info. You're very welcome.
Oh, and no offense intended by that comment. I've just gotten used to endless discussion of Identity Crisis over the last year.

Okay, that was really dumb. Is that the best they can come up with for Jean's character?

Okay, I have to admit that preview was pretty lame. But it did manage to get me interested in picking up the book. Gah. Will I be getting Day of Vengeance? I don't know...
