Sweet. If its gonna be 2-d, I'd want Production IG or maybe Gonzo(for eyecandy) PIG does an awesome job with GiTS:SAC, so another Shirow work for them would be sweet. Who did the recent movie, anyway?

Wow, this is surprising news. I've read the first volume of the manga, and I can't really say it's great, but it's not bad either. It's okay, IMO. I think it's better animated.

For the anime, I'd prefer it be done regularly, not in 3D Cel CG. Characters looks weird in 3D, IMO. I'm not saying it's bad(I think it's okay for it to be used in some parts of shows, like Duel Masters), I'd just prefer it in 2D, and by Production IG.

I only mention it because the recently released Appleseed flick was done in 3D cel cg (Japan's first full 3D theatrical,) and I'd imagine that if it were cost effective, they'd do the TV series the same way. The trailer for that film did a very good job with their cel shading, so if the TV series maintained the quality, I think it'd be a non-issue.

John Woo's name gets attached to all sorts of projects that he never does anything with, including the Transformers movie.
