I know that the viewership of this series (at least among members of Toon Zone!) has dropped considerably, and there are those of you who never liked the show, but I still watch it (heck, I even ordered the season one box set!) but lately, the show has just come up with some bizzare endings.
This past week's episode was "Screwing the Pooch," which involved Lois's rich parents and their hatred towards Peter, most of which was very funny. It also involved with Brian responding to female dogs in heat. Lois's dad owns a prized racing dog, which Brian does the dirty deed with in the middle of a race, and she winds up pregnant. Then he vows to care for his kids and yadda yadda yadda.
Fast forward to the end. This episode was pretty funny over all, ranking up there with season one episodes, IMO, but when this prized dog has her puppies, Lois, Peter, and Brian suddenly realize the puppies are not Brian's. They show the puppies and they all have heads that look just like Lois's father. And I mean they all have HUMAN HEADS. I am like, uhhhhh, oooohhhhkkkaaayyy. Then the final "joke" is Peter making some stupid statement about how he thought dogs laid eggs. It was such a weak and bizzare ending to an otherwise funny episode. Just why they decided to put dogs with human heads that all looked alike was like something out of a bad sci fi movie.

I thought the ending suited the episode...no more bizarre than some of the other stuff on the show.Im a big fan of nonsense humor...
My favorite scene was the "bad roaches"

But if they were suggesting the dog got pregnant the way I think they were suggesting it....I don't wanna go there!

I loved this episode! Especially Stewies little 'Whacka whacka' music while Bryon 'meets' the race dog on the track.
One thing tho....the puppies weren't Lois's fathers, but actually had the face of Ted Turner.
Guess the folks at 'Family Guy' have a bit of an attitude about ol' Ted.

:o How did I miss that??? Ok, actually then, the ending was kinda funny. Taking pot shots at Ted Turner is always gold comedy material! :p

I know there are a lot of people who "hate" Family Guy. Actually, I don't think they quite get it, but anyway.... I've been a fan since show one. They go where few shows dare to go, for instance the episode where they end up at the casino and put down all the ethnic groups? How far was that going? And the one where Peter takes over Lois' play? There was soooo much stuff in that one that would've gotten to some people. But I've laughed at all of them... BTW, what's the beef between Seth MacFarlane and Kevin Smith? Those of you who've seen the Clerks DVD most likely know what I'm talking about- see the book in the writer's room of episode six....

Didn't Parker and Stone do that on South Park with Mr. Garrison and Cartman's pig? "That'll do, pig. That'll do."
Come to think of it, the greyhound plot was right out of a Simpsons episode, with Santa's Little Helper mating with a female in the middle of a race and concieving some twenty or so children. "She's yours now. Once they fall in love, they lose their racing spirit."

I agree about Family Guy being pretty funny since day one. I am glad they are at least putting out season sets of this in the UK. Now that I have a region 2 player set up, I can finally watch them! WOO HOO!!! Bye bye, VHS!
I didn't see that episode of the Simpsons, Dr. What season was it from?

I forget offhand, Cal, but pop over to http://www.snpp.com and you can read the transcript--next best thing to seeing it live. The title is "Two Dozen and One Greyhounds".

Oh, yeah, that was the one where Mr Burns tried to make a coat from the puppies. I saw that. It lifted all kinds of material from Disney! So what we're really saying here is that the episode of "Screwing the Pooch" actually has origins in the 101 Dalmations book?
