Which US manga company do you think is the most Politically Correct? It used to be Tokyopop but now I'll say Viz is by far the most PC manga company.

If you mean...

Which company has become a bunch of p****s...

Then Viz.

Viz is a victim of its success. It's too bad too. I wished they wouldn't cave in the pressure of P/C. I wonder if the change has any thing to with its meager with Shopro.

Gee, I wonder who's going to win this poll?

Gee, I wonder who's going to win this poll? Yes, it's quite a big reversal between Toyopop and Viz from five years ago.

Viz, the new "teh suck".

Viz. They win hands down. I didn't like the whole Mr. Popo's lips disappearing/nudity censoring with DB/DBZ, but have they gone downhill. Not only do they cater to the dub companies, but also make changes FOR NO REASON. They need pink slips all around their offices.

I'm gonna give some credit to DC new Comix line for the Tenjo Tenge debachle.

I read about that.

Being a manga fan these days is like dealing with nothing but 4Kids and Disney for your material. Kinda sad.

The best manga company isn't even a manga company.

And that is Dark Horse.

And that is Dark Horse. Dark Horse flips all their manga.

Dark Horse flips all their manga. It's only minor...I'd rather read flipped than read none at all...

I won't read censored though...

I'd rather flip a finger than read their current edited ones!

That said, who here doesn't forget CMX or that other company editing Negima?

Actually, I'd say Del-Rey is the best. The learned their lesson about censoring before anything hit the shelf, so their release record is impeccable. They've also hired excellent translators and localizers (mainly because they really don't localize it at all, just clean up the flow for the english langauge.) Tokyopop's become second place, and would be first if Del-Rey hadn't gotten in the game. ADV would be tied with Tokyopop if they'd just make up their mind about what they want to do with that division. They either have to commit some resources and time, or they should try and sublet some of their 1000 volume backlog so that nothing gets sat on for painfully long periods (more Gunslinger Girl plzkthx.)

As far as worst, well, I'm looking at Viz and CMX in a neck and neck race of stupidity. We'll see who will wins as time goes on.

Del-Rey backed off editing Negima before it ever hit the shelf, which is why it's wrapped.

I really don't care that Dark Horse flips their manga, as they tend to license only really really damn good manga unlike some companies who put out crap. Sure I give credit to Tokyopop for Planetes and Viz for Nausicaa but when Dark Horse can put out Akira, Astro Boy, Blade of the Immortal, Lone Wolf and Cub and so forth, it's hard not to take notice.

All this editing PC crap just to "not offend" the (American) public is really nothing more than to gain more profit. Why all PG-13 movies since the year 2000? That's the same question with editing manga & self-censorship in comics these days: Just to get the widest, possible audience quickly. Companies like ADV, CMX & Viz aren't actually pleasing any parent advocacy groups or easily offended readers, they're just being greedy!

As far as I know, ADV's never touched their manga either. They just plan on being painfully slow and irregular about releasing it. The motto could be something like "You'll get uncut content, eventually."

Ok, my bad on ADV. But, really, it's just greed on the part of those companies who edit or censor manga. Plain & simple greed.

More amazing is how the creators actually agreed to have their work to be censored. Gaijin Smash (http://www.outpostnine.com/editorials/teacher16.html), indeed

Dark Horse flips all their manga.
That doesn't explain Berserk. Or half their titles.

Remembers MixxZine....

Dark Horse flips all their manga.
Not all panels of Blade of the Immortal. Rearranged instead.
