One day removed from April Fool's Day, another installment of Anime of the Month has arrived. Anime of the Month is intended for highlighting a different anime each month that otherwise would not get that much exposure in the mainstream. This gives an opportunity for people to try something new that they might not have otherwise seen before. The basic guidelines are as follows:
- Only one anime nomination per board member. Any nominations after your first one will be ignored (don't even ask).
- Multiple nominations of the same title will be taken into account in deciding what goes into the poll. In most cases, an anime with the most nominations may more than likely be the one chosen for the month.
In addition to the basic guidelines, the following criteria must be met when nominating an anime (newbies please read before posting):
* Previous Anime of the Month titles cannot be nominated, ruling out the following: Excel Saga, GTO (Great Teacher Onizuka), Read or Die, Kare Kano (His and Her Circumstances), Witch Hunter Robin, X TV, Noir, Last Exile, Haibane Renmei, Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi, Kiddy Grade, Fruits Basket, Azumanga Daioh, Saikano, Tenchi Muyo GXP, Millennium Actress, Chrono Crusade, Paranoia Agent, Kino's Journey, Samurai Champloo, Twelve Kingdoms, and Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind.
* Any anime that has been shown or is scheduled to be shown on American television during the past few years (mostly ruling out any anime that has been shown on G4, Cartoon Network, Fox Kids/4Kids TV, AZN-TV (previously International Channel), etc.) cannot be nominated, since they probably have more than enough exposure already.
* Only anime that has been officially released in the U.S. can be nominated (Sorry fansubbers, but to keep everything legitimate at Toon Zone, fansubbed titles are ineligible for the sake of avoiding any legal issues). Additionally, do not nominate anime titles that have been licensed, but do not have an official release date, for those nominations will be ignored.
* Anime television series, feature-length movies, and OVAs are all equally acceptable. In the case of releases spanning multiple DVD and/or VHS releases, though, the first volume will be discussed primarily in an effort to minimize costs for those who wish to participate. Later releases may be discussed, but spoilers beyond the first volume should be omitted or placed in spoiler tags.
* Due to the limited time period for Anime of the Month titles, any anime that is being released at the end of the month should not be nominated until the next month.
As always, any other questions, comments, or suggestions may be discussed here if it's towards improving the selection process in this thread.
Nominations will be open until Monday evening.
The floor is now open for nominations.
