Just saw the trivia "fact" they ran before "Prince Violent"...er... "Prince Varmit" (they ran the re-titled version). Anyway, they claimed that the title of this cartoon was originally "Prince Violent", then changed to "Prince *Violet*" (HUH!???), before finally being changed to "Prince Varmint".

Other fractured facts, I caught last night:

Bugs' first said "Of course you know, this means war!" in "Prest-o Change-o" (somebody else mentioned that one).

"Hare Remover" was introduced as "Hare Removal Bugs".

In the intro to "Hair-Raising Hare", they said it was released in 1951.

They also called the cartoon "Baby Buggy Bugs" instead of the true name "Baby Buggy Bunny"!

Also, they said that "Duck! Rabbit, Duck!" was the cartoon where Bugs and Daffy imitate each other (along with commenting on how Mel Blanc did a great job of that). Of course, that was done in "Rabbit Fire".

I wonder what other factual mistakes I'll hear when I finally watch my tapes!

The announcer introduced FROM HARE TO HEIR as FROM HARE TO ETERNITY which isn't even the right cartoon.:p

I heard Bowery Bugs was introduced at Bowery Dogs

Another problem: The voiceover claimed that "14 Carrot Rabbit" was the only cartoon where Bugs sang "Fiddle De Di". Yet a few 'toons later he sings it again in "Hasty Hare", and I think the song might have been featured more times.
Still, I'm enjoying the marathon. Lots of good stuff, sime if which I'd never seen before, some of which I'd forgotten how much I liked.

The only glaring error I caught was where the announcer introed "Bowery Bugs" as "one of only two cartoons directed by Art Davis". Exsqueeze me? Davis directed a lot of films, but only one Bugs, so I don' t know what point was trying to be made there.

Actually, they were including "The Goofy Gophers" (directed by Clampett and Davis), in which Bugs makes a cameo.

...considering Nickelodeon's trademark is goofing up on historical facts and banning episodes for no particular reason.

Actually, BUCKAROO BUGS was released in 1944, and HARE TRIGGER, the first Yosemite Sam was released in 1946, so it's possible that RHR was an inspiration for Yosemite Sam, although RHR seems more funnier and dopier to me.

Actually, Sam was probably influenced by Cottontail Smith from Super Rabbit.

His voice is the same and they HATES rabbits! (Although Smith has a much higher stature than Sam.)

They said it was changed to "Prince Valiant" not Violet. It was known as "Valiant" when it was on the old Bugs Bunny/Roadrunner Hour. But it was changed to "Varmint" probably because of the comic strip "Prince Valiant"

It was CBS who changed the title to "Prince Varmint" when it aired on the Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Show. In fact, the version with the CBS title card reappeared when this cartoon was shown on the syndicated MERRIE MELODIES: STARRING BUGS BUNNY & FRIENDS in 1990. I am not aware of this cartoon being called "Prince Valiant" at any point.
