View Full Version : The Brave Saga returns with "Gaogaigar Final Grand Glorious Gathering"
You think they could have picked a shorter title.
New Brave Saga Series (2005-03-29 11:13:25)
The official website (http://www.yusha.net/) for the Brave Saga (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=1954) has announced a new series, Gaogaigar Final Grand Glorious Gathering (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=5086), premiering on April 11th at 1:30 am on TV Tokyo.
Does this mean that the Brave Saga is out of license hell?

Huh?
Just because they're making a new series doesn't mean it's licensed.
All of the Brave Saga series are licensed in Japan by Bandai/Sunrise.
It's only in licensing hell in the US because many different US anime/toy companies already have ties to different sections of the saga, which means no one company will likely ever be able to have it all, which means that most likely, the Brave Saga will never see the light of day in the US.
Which sucks large Man-Faye ass. =(
As for the show itself....AiA needs to get their butts in gear and sub the final 6 episodes of the original series, then do the 8 FINAL OVAs in time for the new series.

GA-GA-GA, GA-GA-GA GAO-GAI-GARRR!
Actually I thought the only holdout on the licensing deal was Bandai versus Takara over the toy rights. Which does, indeed, suck. Getting some Yuusha-oh toys on American shelves would be sweet.

I wouldn't give up that easily over the franchise if I were you. Spider Man the movie was also tied up in ownership rights for years before a compromise was finally set and the movie was finally made. If Spider Man can get out of this dilemma, GaoGaiGar could too! :)
Oh, and my favorite line from GaoGaiGar:
"I'm not your uncle, I'm only 20 years old!" :D

I saw the first volume of this series, looked nice, really dark. I'll doubt it will ever reach the legal waters of U.S

GaoGaiGar? Dark? Are you sure we're talking about the same series here?

The new OP has a male chorus in it. It's even cheesier than the original. My blood is boiling just listening to it.
I love it!
BROKEN PHANTOM!
From what's going around, this is supposed to be a platter mixing of the shows and OVA's.
This may be the last chance at getting GaoGaiGar in the US. At which point kids everywhere could appreciate the uber-cheese.
BTW, just saw the opening. It's safe to say that GaoGaiGar beats the crap out of 90% of the mecha shows out on the market right now, with only the choicest Go Nagai remakes and Zeta Gundam beating it out.

Nope, it's Bandai and Hasbro. Takara is perfectly within rights to make a new Brave series, and technically, Bandai couldn't stop Sunrise if they wanted to make the anime, but in reality, this isn't going to happen.
The fact is with Sunrise in Bandai's corner and Hasbro and Takara being busom buddies in action figure production since the 1960s (Original G.I. Joe was given to Takara and became Henshin Cyborg, which begat Microman, which became the inspiration for the 80s G.I. Joe Toy Line and begat Microchange and Diaclone, which became Transformers) You have a problem on your hands. Unless Hasbro or Bandai are willing to compromise, you will never see the Brave shows over here in any form. Ever.

If Funi can get Kodacha out of liscencing Hell maybe they can rescue GGG. *prays*

Dude, no one can save GGG. No one. Only Bandai can distribute the show, only Hasbro can release the toys. See the problem?
GaoGaiGar is stuck in license limbo, and yet we can be given Eiken, Mouse, and Gravion.:crying:

I've never seen any of these "Brave" series. What are they like? Are we talking Gundam or Voltron?
Pure super robot action. GaoGaiGar benfits from being a post-Evangelion production, however, so the story, while still retaining enough cheese to make an extra-large pizza, the characters and storylines are very interesting.
It's also a very refreshing change from the whiny angsty heroes that every show seemed to shove into their series for the heck of it.
