Mine are the Pyramids of Giza.
To really understand their impact you have to have been in close proximity to them. You have to have walked the barren dessert in the vicinity and you have to have at least peered in through the narrow tunnels leading to underground burial chambers.Amazing!
The most fascinating thing about them is their apparent and inherent simplicity. Nothing outrageously lavish in sturcture and didn't cost much except human sweat.

Agreed and I think that's the reason they survived. The pyramids are arguably the most simplistic of the world wonders and they're the only ones still around. I guess simplicity really does breed longevity.
As for my favorites, well I don't know we don't really know what the other ones looked like but as far as concept.
The Hanging Gardens: They must have been a real sight for someone coming into Babylon.
The Colosus of Rhodes: A truly imposing statue by all accounts that must have been incredible to look at. Some even say it inspired a certain statue in New York harbor that we all know.
The Lighthouse of Alexandria: But that's just because it was rumored to be able to set boats on fire from a distance like a huge magnifying glass ;) .

The Hanging Gardens of Babylon. It looks so beautiful and peaceful according to that drawing. Is it a drawing? Just wondering. But The Pyramids of Giza looks so fascinating too. Those are my two favorites.

That will have been just a drawing of the Hanging Gardens, as the Pyramids of Giza are the only wonders of the world still in existence. Because of that, they're also my favourite wonder. I've never seen them up close, but from what I've seen of pictures of them on TV and in history books, they are spectacular in height and general achievement. It makes me want to go to Egypt. :anime:
