Well, becuase I was absolutely bored and it was a choice between The Simpsons or Most Wanted on TBS, and opted for The Simpsons. Well, this was a fairly mediocre episode but a bit better then the stuff they've been churning out recently. Is it me or is Homer really starting to get a drug problem? Almost every episode we see him sniffing cloroform, licking toads, or injecting needles into his arms. While the whole 'Mr.Burns tries to date young gal' was a good idea, it just wasn't explored enough.

And does Homer even HAVE a job anymore?

They're losing sight of the show's focus and it is on the verge of death. I don't watch the new ep's anymore. I'm more into the reruns.

--this one was better than most. At least there wasn't a scene that revulsed me involving nudity, scabs, blood, demoralizing Lisa, or such. I actually felt sorry for Burns when that young lass dumped him for Snake. Dames go for bad boys...and prefer a thug to a gentleman villian.
Burns says he's never dated a woman "with her original hair and teeth"...but he's forgotten his dalliance as a boy of forty with a girl half his age that produced a son (who apparently has kids of his own, which would make Burnsie a grandfather!)
Homer notes some of Burns' misdeeds in the past, which shows that crayon in his brain doesn't totally affect his memory. "That was you?" she says upon hearing about Burns' blocking out the sun.
Note Smithers trying to cozy up to Burns after he reads his "true love" fortune.
Jokes about Burns' frailty abound. "That was my thumb (referring to the crack as Burns tries to break his cookie)." Later, as Burns' girlfriend carries him out of the burning cabin (which looked a lot like Grandpa's old place), Lisa sighs resignedly, "Well, at least somebody got saved." Still, Burnsie should have gotten points for being noble for once. "But you're a withered monkey skeleton!" "True...but I'm a monkey skeleton in love."
The whole discussion at the end was rather funny. "What do I have to do, grow a devil beard?"...You know, that pointy chin thing!" "You mean a soul patch?" "No!...Well, maybe."

The "pistol whip" scene was hilarious.

However if youre talking about "gross" scenes, the whole aphrodesiac part was pretty shocking.I thought it was fairly scary enough to see Burns run into the bedroom like that, but then it just got freakier and freakier! (I dont find anything offensive, but for the simpsons, that was just weird)

This episode was better than most of the new ones I've seen during the last season. It was kind of creepy listening to Julia Louis-Dreyfus say "excellent."

Expect to see more "Homer drug" episodes, as one upcoming episode features Homer on medical marijuana!

One question: did Homer use the same needle that Burns used? He may not catch anything, however, since Burn's body is like merange.

It got me to laugh a few times, so I liked it. Homer running up the stairs with Marge in arms was hilarious. Mmmmmm.... Pistol Whip... :D

I thought it was pretty funny, better than the premiere by far and better than the REM ep by a little. I liked how there didnt try any of the outlandish things that Dr. Belch has mentioned to get a laugh. I thought it was hilarious when Burns & Smithers walk into the strip club and the two dancers corner Smithers. That was great.

Last night's episode was all right; not bad and not a classic.

Some assorted thoughts:

- That was creepy hearing Julia Louis-Dreyfus say "excellent".

- The ending made me so mad; it's so real that a beautiful girl would go with the criminal. Perhaps, in another frame of mind, she should be careful with that guy. Why? The abuse factor, sure, but she could also end up with any number of diseases because her gentleman friend has been gallavanting around with women of questionable (or non-existent) morals...but that's a statement for another thread and another time.

- Am I the only one who seems to be noticing an unusual change in Homer, vis-a-vis the whole "I meant on her knee...and I said 'knee'!" scene. It seems that Homer is becoming a free agent, if you get my meaning. If you did get it, you're probably saying "No, he's not. After all, he's married." Well, so was the Colonel in "American Beauty" and we all know how that turned out.

This episode was better than usual, but still not as good as it used to be. By the way it's interesting that you mentioned Homer having a drug problem Dick Grayson, because this season I think he gets addicted to drugs.

I'll have to agree with everyone else... it was fairly low on the totem pole for the season as a whole, but it was better than most of the last two seasons. Maybe we're starting to see an upswing?

It was a dumb plot, but it was still generally handled well; nothing TOO outlandish...and I hate to say it, but they overused Burn's "old time" vocabulary way too much.

As for Homer's drugs...he got addicted to painkillers, remember? :D

This was an alright episode, much better then the last two new episodes. The "Pistol Whip" thing was pretty funny, but hearing Julia Louis-Dreyfus say "excellent" was pretty creepy.

I'd still take one of the reruns over this episode anyday.

When do the episodes begin airing that are made by the producer from that came back over from Futurama?

Speaking of Futurama, when does the new season of that and KOTH begin?

The new season of KOTH has already begun, there's been a new eppy or two.

As far as Futurama... I THINK it'll be new next week, since football is mostly over.

FRAG IT ALL, it's been preempted here for football. I've been keeping an eye for it, unless it came in under my radar, but I don't know how that happened. They had an episode scheduled this past week but it never aired here.

I saw it, and loved this line, just highlight the spoiler to read it, since the mods might get mad if I left this just open:

Mr. Burns: ...but there is no muscle stronger than the human heart!

Homer: What about the weiner??? A guy on TV lifted a can of paint with his!

:p

Re: Karkull's query--yes, Homer did reuse Burns' needle, which was a bit of an "ew" moment, but pretty tame compared to, say, spongebathing the naked hobo, cutting off his thumb, or his cut hand geysering blood. It is possible he could catch something, though--didn't a doctor tell Burnsie in the ep where Homer guards his estate and goes joyriding on his yacht that his body is riddled with diseases? "Merrangue" implies softness, though--I picture giving Burns a shot like trying to put the needle into a dry chicken bone.

Re: Thad's quote: yes, I loved that one too. I once saw a guy on TV with his tied around a small boulder that he lifted up and down like a yo-yo.

RE: KOTH--Yes, I've seen two new eps...and is it my imagination or is Peggy getting slightly psychotic as of late? So far she's become bitterly jealous of Bobby's culinary talents and attempted to sabatoge Thanksgiving dinner...then arranged a two-pronged--and borderline illegal--plan to bilk a con artist out of the money that he'd bilked her and several other Arlenites out of. Great line to Boomhauer: "I knew I could trust you not to talk."

What's on tap for next week? I really hope we get to the episodes (soon) from some of the returning FUTURAMA team. I will admit these enw episodes have been a bit better than last season's disasterous run.
