I haven't seen many of the premieres yet... :( have been busy most of the day. I don't care for the animated "June Bugs Premiere" graphic that pops up over the opening titles (I caught "Hare Brush" and "Rabbit Rampage"). Thank goodness there will be a big block of non-stop of ABC Bugs cartoons tomorrow night. I plan to record a whole bunch of cartoons and fill in the gaps in my collection  :D Then there's LNB&W later, too! My poor VCR will be working overtime.
Kind of disappointed to hear about some of CN's outlandish edits (why the heck was the "WHAT A WOMAN!" gone from "Hare Splitter"!!?). Was the "turkey farming" note restored to "The Hasty Hare"?

Nope

At least they showed HARE TRIMMED unedited. BONANZA BUNNY is on now - let's hope that short it uncut also. I remember ABC's edited version of that cartoon lasted 2 minutes!

Looked OK to me. It's a shame they put the inexplicable edits on there, but overall I couldn't have asked for a better marathon. Only thing that would've made it better would have been the eleven cartoons they gave the axe. Oh well. At least now I'm going to have the ultimate box-set...all Bugs Bunny films in chronological order! And soon, through a trade, I'll have the "missing hares" too. The info before each cartoon is a highlight, too. Some things were wrong, but most of the stuff they've said I didn't know. With a combination of tape speeds (an SP until 1AM last night, an EP 9-hour super high quality (sounds like a Marvin Martian gizmo, doesn't it?) overnight for all those overplayed old ones, and then back to SP for the morning. I left this afternoon for a while, so I used the LP mode. Then back to SP, what I'm using now. In fact, except for when I had to go somewhere, I have religiously edited the ads all day. So far I'm working on the 8th tape. One more, I've figured out, will finish out the collection.

(I feel your pain about missing this, Jon. Would a nice steaming bowl of hassenpheffer (what IS that, anyway?) cheer you up?)

I feel your pain, Jon:) I've got Three VCR's working just to be able to make my June Bugs posts.
I'm using one VCR, but pausing out all the commercials. Not everything is in chronological order in my tapes, though. I didn't tape the edited versions of Tortoise Wins By A hare, Hare Ribbon, Porky Pig's Feat, ect. And CN screwed up the WB shield zoom for Hare Way to the Stars, so I'm retaping it tomorrow.

Ultimate box set? HA! VHS is practically the equivalent of a phonograph record. Ask a 4 year old if he or she knows what a record is. HA! My kid's response, "Aren't they from the olden days?" Few years from now VHS'll be the same. Ultimate box set? Wouldn't that be every single Bugs Bunny cartoon (up thru '64) complete and uncut on DVD and slathered with extras including interviews and behind the scenes stuff? This marathon on cartoon network is far from anything wonderful. Their censoring of films is a load of crap. Should they insist on it continuing then the originals need to be preserved and offered to the public on DVD. People should have a choice not to watch sliced and diced censorship.

Welvome to the 'put-the damn-'toons-UNCUT-on-dvd-NOW club.
there must be over a hundred of us in it so far...
on the plus side, home dvd burners are becoming less expensive, so maybe bootleggers will get into the act.
and don't forget the malaysian VCD's - they are time-compressed, but intact, and will play on (almost) and dvd player.
and there are players that can play ANY region dvd's, so, it the Japanese dvds become numerous, a black market may arise.
Warner Legal: I am not proposing nor endorsing any activity which would infringe on your copyrights. I am merely speculating on probable market directions. But - how about being nice and releasing the stuff on region 1 dvd's? Even a straight re-issue of the laserdiscs as dvds would be nice...
Thanks you for your attention

Yeah, around a couple grand so they are coming down. When will they be around $250? Who knows, could be awhile but what's the point anyway? Bootleggers? Hey, my friend has a DVD-R unit, we can hook up a laser disc player and put Bugs & Looney Tunes on DVD!! Ahhhhh.... no. I don't think so. Not the same as an official Warner Brothers release.

see comment about bootleggers.

Hey Dave, hey anyone who gives a darn - how about writing an actual letter to Warner Brothers and explaining the situation and let 'em know you'd give them your money for this product. Hey, here's a thought - a few months after writing a letter, write 'em another! Odds are they won't know you wrote 'em twice, they'll just chalk up another supporter. These cartoons should not be withheld from the people who wanna see 'em complete and uncut, all of them, in all their glory. It's a buncha crap that they get censored on CN, these have gotta get released to DVD. But what to do about those "sensitive" ones? Here's one idea i have, kinda like Bruce Springsteen's Tracks box set, they released a shorter one disc version called 18 Tracks. WB should release the Bugs Bunny box set, every cartoon, uncut, uncensored and release a tamer version as well, maybe, kinda like a family-friendly version that'll not be offensive to most people. Only problem is that could be too expensive for WB to release two different items, one edited, one all out complete and uncut. More than likely they'd lean towards letting certain cartoons rot and be forgotten and release a trimmed down box set. It's a sticky situation on what they would do to please everyone. If they released only some of the Bugs cartoons on DVD with many of the "offensive" ones left out and some censored, that would NOT be good enough. That would be an insult. Something's got to be done. People've gotta write.
