Goonland (1938) lowercase "p" on Paramount logo
Wotta Nitemare (1939)
Pipeye-Pupeye-Poopeye-Peepeye (1942) first appearance on CN of pipe opening.

Cops Is Always Right (1938) final Popeye cartoon to use "ADOLPH ZUKOR" opening. Used 1938?-1943 B&W Paramount logos as well.

Hello How Am I (1939)

Robin Hoodwinked (1948) Polacolor

It was nice of Cartoon Network to mention Margie Hines as Olive's voice during the period that the Fleischers were in Miami. CN didn't mention anything about Mae Questel refusing to move to Miami, but finally we know who did the voice of Olive.

Also, it was great to see the 1941-42 openings at last on Cartoon Network. The sound of the pipe was in sync with the picture.

There must have been a glitch on CN during "Goonland". The scene of Pappy breaking the mountain into pieces and Popeye burying his head in the sand ("I'd better use me head before I lose it!") was shown twice. It was rather weird. Did anyone else notice this? Or maybe it was just a DirecTV thing?

The fully restored version of "Pipeye Pupeye Poopeye an' Peepeye" was GREAT! The final gag was back. For some reason, LNB&W always cuts the last appearance of the nephews after the iris out, saying "We don't like spinach!".

That's the result of LNB&W's fake iris out on all of the B&W Popeye cartoons they show, cutting off the endings of the cartoons, sometimes effecting the actual end gag, like Me Musical Nephews and The Hungry Goat.

Sorry to embarrass you, Jason, but we're all caught up on the CN sked updates. Still, thanks for the thought. :)

Speaking of which, here's a poser: Why didn't Popeye "eat his spinach and sock 'im one" (as the silhouetted kid in the audience shouted toward the end of that short)?

Maybe because he'd previously delivered most of his own supply to Britain and had to ration what was left?

(Anyway, I'd been wondering about that bit ever since I first saw "The Hungry Goat" on TV at age 6 or so. C'est la vie.)

I wasn't! The guides I get really don't cover CN. They only list it in the prime-time grids.

Thanks for posting the schedule, Jason! :)

My answer: "Because Dan Gordon is directing this cartoon!".

Happened to me too, and I don't Have DirecTV or digital cable. Also the TV-G rating appeared toward the middle of the cartoon.
