Yeah, I wouldn't say that it's "mostly" anime. Saturday night is the only night that they show a consistant anime block from 10 pm - 2 am (or is it now 9pm); not counting Futurama of course.
This is purely an opinion here, but I appreciate the fact that CN isn't mostly anime. Why?...because anime isn't the greatest thing since sliced bread when it comes to entertainment in animation. Yeah, we all like/love different kinds of anime, and some we can do without *cough* Lupin *cough*, but I think it would be cool to branch off and have a Toonami channel, or [adult swim] channel all to themselves. I only say this because I'd like to see CN devoted more to different kinds of toons with a bigger variety, and not just WB transplants or Cartoon-Cartoons. I'm one of the few who actually miss the old mid to late-90s CN -- and no, I don't get Boomerang. *sigh*

Errr, anime? Don't think so... Unless you're one of those naive people who believe things like Teen Titans and Totally Spies to be anime, which they are not.

I actually think that percent of Anime on Cartoon Network is going down not growing at all. Most of the shows on Cartoon Network is either made from Cartoon Network studios in the United Sates or imported from France, Japan, or Canada and the last three countries only account for one-third of the shows. You must not be watching the channel all the time, oh well.:anime:

Perhaps you mean anime-styled and yes there are alot of anime-styled shows, but seriously not even 8 hours worth of anime on CN in any given week.

Just to make sure you hadn't noticed some drastic schedule change that I somehow missed I checked CN's website for their schedule and counted the number of anime shows on, and sure enough between the hours of 5 AM and 11 PM there are only 3 actual anime shows on, Transformers Energon, YU-GI-OH! and Dragon Ball GT. I can understand how you could think shows like Teen Titans and Totally Spies are anime, an easy mistake, but even taking those into account that's only 2 hours more of programming, which brings the total anime and anime styled shows up to 3 and a half hours, barely enough to justify saying CN is mostly Anime. The numbers do go up during AS, but if you wanted to comment on how AS is mostly anime that would have been done in the AS forum, so I'll assume you're talking about Cartoon Network during the daytime. Now, this is a Monday through Friday weekday, and the number of anime shows on CN increases drastically on Saturday, but it's almost non-existent on Friday and Sunday so it really evens out. I'd say 10% of CN is anime, if that, and possibly 20% if you count AS, which is hardly most of CN.

The Dragonball series, Big O, Pokemon, and Rave Master. Is there anything I'm forgetting?
No. CN once was alot of anime but now it is trash.

ok i feel really stupid now:o :ack:  :crying: :sad:Well, don't.. even with Cartoon Network's anime cutback, I agree we're still lucky that a basic television channel that reaches 87.5 million U.S. homes dedicates even less than 20% of its lineup to a relatively diverse lineup of usually decently-dubbed anime. I do appreciate Cartoon Network for that, even if that percentage is technically being inflated through Adult Swim's encore.
..well, you would've loved the station back in early 2003.

Okay, let's just take a list of the anime shows airing on CN right now. We've got Yugi-oh!, Transformers Energon, Dragonball GT, Rave Master, Duel Masters, D.I.C.E., Zatch Bell, Inuyasha, The Big O, Wolf's Rain, Full Metal Alchemist, Ghost in The Shell, Super Milk-Chan, and Cowboy Bebop. Basically, we have 14 anime shows airing a week. Tell me if there's any other channel besides The Anime Network that broadcasts this much anime. And we could probably double that number back in 2002 and early 2003. Hopefully, with all of the new acquisitions, Toonami and Adult Swim can show even more anime this year.

The Dragonball series, Big O, Pokemon, and Rave Master. Is there anything I'm forgetting?Transformers, Pokemon, Dragonball Z, Dragonball GT, Deul Masters, Beyblade, Ultimate Musule and Outlaw Star... I think thats it.
Anyway, heres the scedul for the next 6 hours of Toonami UK (I couldnt get the whole day because of stupid NTL)
Transformers Energon
Transformers Energon
Teen Titans
Rave Master
Star Wars: Clone Wars
Dragonball Z
Pokemon
Beyblade
Samurai Jack
Megas XLR
Pokemon
Dragonball Z
SO assuming Energon is Japanese (not sure if it is or not) roughly 8/12 of the Toonami UK sceduls is Anime... nice :zim:

Someone made a hasty judgement, a noob got the thread itch, and as a result this thread was created. Yes the point was driven in, CN does not show primarily anime. I think this thread has served its purpose.

Pokemon was taken off the network back in the fall because Kids' WB! wanted their network to be the "exclusive" home of the show.

What, 13 or 14 anime shows? Just because that's alot means nothing in terms of CN being made up of mostly anime. Stupid trash bin shows make up 80% of this network. The other twenty percent is anime and other good shows. Besides, half of the anime is shown on adult swim, which isn't meant for little kids.
