This episode is a masterpiece. Everything was executed more or less perfectly. The characters totally came to life. Great interactions, great dialogue, great delivery. One of the best examples is when Rya asks Joel for the gun and Phil asks if she's going to shoot him with it and she says yes. The timing there is just so perfect, as is Rya's nonchalant delivery. Perfect perfect perfect.
The randomness has never felt better. The psychoticism is on the level of FLCL, where a scene just goes crazy and you don't know why but you just love it.

One of the other absolutely hilarious things is the use of that stock demo MIDI that comes with Windows that plays abruptly over any dialogue by Mr. Malice. Don't know why it's funny. Just is.

And then the ending was great too. Random excessive violence has been done before, but not usually with such comic precision.

This was so worth an extra day. Through the difficulties, Matt pulled it off, and by "it" I mean the cork in my laughter-bottle. Ouch.

BURN ALMIGHTY-ty-ty-ty-ty-ty-ty-ty.....

I don't think this episode was a classic, but it was definitely funny.

The only part I really didn't like was the buffering joke at the begining which was done before.

Everything else, pure awesome.

Easter Egg Alert: After the credits, click on "A Bonus Stage Cartoon" to hear a song set to the tune to "The Song That Doesn't End" from Lamb Chop's Play-Along.

I still think Cartoon Planet did a better version of parodyzing the song ("SHUT UP!!" "Guess it just ended") but that was a nice easter egg. Uh, is the first time this season we've had an easter Egg? I believe so.

This was a very nice episode I must admitt. I didn't mind that we didn't have a plot for it. Although the "Land in a desert planet" plot has been done so many times before (Duck Dodgers, Spacetree, etc) this was a nice twist on the plot. Joel and Phil had many great interactions, and I really liked the refrences to the old BS episodes and HS shows (like "Ficus Group" and "Munched" for example) and the allusion to The High Score Kids was good too.

High Points: Phil mentinoing he has super powers but we buffer over him using them, Joel's edutatnment CD's, Rya and Mr. Malice's random appearences (this is the first time Jessica's actually died in the show, BTW) the Cowboy Bebop and Orgeon Trail jokes, "I like the way you think. But please, don't think again. It's not you" (I'm going to have to use that line on someone one day), Joel being killed by the giant Fist and the Yogi Bearish title card at the end.

Grade: 4.5 Stars Out of 5 Stars.

I finally saw Bonus Stage, but maybe I shouldn't have just jumped to this ep, because clearly I need to know about them to like it. I give this a "meh," but that's probally because it was my first ep.

Your opinion may differ.

Episode 7, "Cube", is a good place for anyone to start, although if you don't get the parodies it could be troublesome... but pretty much anyone who goes to Toon Zone should get the parodies.
