HISTORIC CONTRACT
MARCH 17, 2005

This week on SmackDown!, the Legend Killer Randy Orton will make a special Thursday night appearance to officially sign the contract pitting him against the legendary Undertaker at WrestleMania 21. On April 3, live on pay-per-view, Orton will undoubtedly be up against the battle of his career. That is, if he makes it out of SmackDown! Thursday night.

Randy Orton will not be the only special appearance Thursday night, as former Rocker Marty Jannetty will also be on hand to face Kurt Angle.

The Olympic Champion is out to accomplish everything Shawn Michaels ever did in just four week. Last week, Angle won a Ladder Match. This week, he takes on HBK's former partner Marty Jannetty. The former Rocker is coming off a huge victory over La Resistance on Monday night. Can the momentum carry over to his match against Angle? Tune in on Thursday night to find out.

That's not all. Rumors have been circulating that SmackDown! General Manager Theodore R. Long will speak about the repercussions against John Cena as a result of the FU he gave to the GM last week. Tune in to SmackDown! to find out what is on General Manager Theodore Long's mind. One thing's for certain, Long cannot be in a good mood after having his authority questioned.

Plus, what kind of mood will John Cena be in just two weeks after losing his United States Championship and one week after exploding with rage against JBL's Cabinet?

Don’t miss SmackDown! on UPN (8/7 CT).

Angle-Jannetty was awesome. One of the best Smackdown matches in quite some tome. To say Jannetty held his own, was an understatement. He did a quality job, against the Olympic Gold Medalist.

Not only are JBL's promos better, his facial expressions are hilarious. During his segment with Long, he was funny as Long told him the good news, then the bad news.

Orton continues to thrive as he slowly turns heel. Him slapping Taker was cool. It's being rumored that he's going to Smackdown after Mania, and I like that idea. Also, win or lose, I wouldn't be surprised if this feud doesn't end at Mania.

London-Kidman was too short to be a gem. I guess I'm shocked and impressed that Kidman and London's feud was mentioned. I do get the feeling that London won't get the title at Mania since there probably won't be a match, because Chavo is too preoccupied with Eddie/Rey.

Dawn Marie should stop her 3-year feud with Torrie & the rest of the Divas and manage somebody.

I liked the "you can't touch your opponent till the PPV" better when HHH and Austin did it at No Way Out 2001.

And lastly, Cena's new theme music sucks. I guess it's for his album which has been in the works for a while.

I guess Smackdown was so-so, but Angle-Jannetty will be remembered for a long time.

You aren't kidding. What the hell was that? I bet they change it back before WrestleMania. At least I hope...

This week's SmackDown! was very average. The opening match was great, but the other three were largely forgettable. No new matches were announced for WrestleMania, which is somewhat surprising to me since SmackDown! has only one non-interpromotional match. Hopefully things will improve next week.

Michaels and Jannetty put on the match of the night. When Angle announced his challenge last week I thought it would be nothing more than a squash. I'm glad I was wrong. I don't know if WWE has any more plans for Jannetty in the future, but I'd definitely like to see him in the ring again.

Booker T versus Reigns was a pretty boring match. Heidenreich's commentary during the match was awful. I don't know what he was talking about during his post-match promo, but I'm sure nothing good will come from it.

London and Kidman was an okay match, but the crowd was silent until the very ending. I can't say I'm surprised. The cruiserweights will never get a decent reaction from the crowd unless they're consistently on SmackDown! I am glad that Cole and Tazz actually mentioned the history between these two, but I'd still like to know when London is going to get his title match.

The main event match was okay. Eddie's little look of frustration when Mysterio got the pin at the end was great. The slow build between those two has been good so far, but it seems like a match between them at WrestleMania should have been announced a long time ago.
