I've always wanted to record the Metal Gear Solid games for my dad to see. And the other topic just got me interested. So is it possible?

I've tried it once or twice with a blank tape and it worked.

He's probably wondering exactly how....you just take the red, white and yellow component cables that come out of your console and stick them into the "In" jacks which would be either on the back or the front of your VCR. Then push Record.

I've done it before with Donkey Kong 64. It's pretty neat.
Just make sure the VCR is on Line or chanel imput.

Yeah that's what I did. I taped some really cool glitches in Halo 2. Like jumping on top of buildings in Outskirts or the Scarab Gun in Metropolis.

I've done that with the GTA games to make some video compilations of the crazy stuff that happens in those games, and to record the Filmmaker options from the DRIVER games. I just hooked up the PS2 to the front in-puts on my VCR, the one marked "Line 2," and recorded.

 Cool!

Looks like I'm going to have to play Final Fantasy 6-10, Chrono Trigger, and Chrono Cross again, among others... to get the cut scenes and major battles on tape!

Once when my girlfriend was away at a German retreat for a month, I sent her a sort of video collage of clips of me, music videos, movies, TV shows, and video games we both like. I spliced in a clip of Voldo doing his pelvic thrust move just to freak her out. (-: I'm a bad boyfriend.

Well if you have a TV Adapter and some proper programming you can connect your system in and use the program to record it. I tested it on an FMV of F-Zero GX and actually worked.

I do that when I reach a stage that has good music I like so insted of just playing the game to listen to the music I just pop in the tape it`s on.

Even back in the cable/switch box days, it was pretty easy just to have the signal go in through your VCR and record- I was so excited the day I finished Super Mario World that I had to save it for posterity. I remember the sounds were out of whack, though.

Note right click the above file and save as and it's in windows media format (yeah yeah, my DIVx thing expired...).

Later.

Of course you could, with any video recorder and wires that feeds the TV.

In fact, it's standard procedure when I was a bug tester for a videogame company. Every bug, change, and anomaly must be authenticated and reproducible. Basically, we recorded every time we played.

I think I still have my "Super Mario 64 The Movie" somewhere.

Make sure that your component cables are plugged into the "IN" Video/Audio jacks. Then sometimes with certain VCRs, you have to select which "input" to use either via buttons on your remote or you have to fiddle with the VCR settings. Because certain VCRs have several input jacks.

I hope that helps.

^Ok just describe to me the input process a little more and I should be good. Thanks.
