Well, with this wekeend likely being the last week Harry Potter will be #1, it beat it's nearest competition by a mere 5 mill, falling more than 50% from the weekend before. Behind Enemy Lines pulled in a respectable $19 mill and will likely linger in the top 10 for a little while. Here's a complete rundown, Glitter-free.

1. Harry Potter & The Sorceror's Stone - $24,050,000 ($220.1 mill)
2. Behind Enemy Lines - $19,200,000 ($19.2 mill)
3. Spy Game - $11,200,000 ($46.9 mill)
4. Monsters Inc. - $9,400,000 ($204.4 mill)
5. Black Knight - $5,700,000 ($23 mill)
6. Shallow Hal - $4,650,000 ($61.2 mill)
7. Out Cold - $2,900,000 ($10.5 mill)
8. Domestic Disturbance - $1,900,000 ($42.4 mill)
9. Amelie - $1,400,000 ($9.8 mill)
10. Heist - $1,225,000 ($22 mill)

With Ocean's 11 (another WB movie) opening next weekend, expect it to eclipse the kid wiz with an easy $25 - 30 million gross. And it looks like Monsters. Inc may not beat Shrek's gross as originally anticipated, but only weeks can tell...

Well it looks like HP wont be beating Titanic. What are the estimates for the fallout? Maybe between $350-400 mil?

Hm? Amelie popped up at #9? Could it be that another foreign-language film could have mainstream success over here? Me, I'd just be happy if the dang thing came to the backwaters of Arkansas where I could see it.

Were people really predicting it would beat Titanic before it came out? I know people were saying it would beat TPM's gross ($430 mil), but I never thought it would.

Judging by it's current rate, I'd be surprised if it even came within $100 mil of TPM. My guess is around $300 mil (domestic) for HP. I have a feeling LOTR will be slightly less (although $300 mil is still an excellent gross for a movie).

It's all about "legs": how long will it last at the box office? There is some chance that it may stabilize at a lower level, and could catch up to TPM if it chugs along weekend after weekend taking in $10 - $15 million. With the holidays coming up, don't underestimate the power of little kids clamoring to see it again and again and again. . .

the only two movies that I think are really capable of beating Titanic are the LOTR movies or the last 2 Star Wars movies...
