Okay, I'm kinda new to this section or ToonZone and haven't really been to this part as much. I'm not even sure if this belongs in this Story Board section or not, but I wanted to rant about character bashing in fanfics. Just is it really necessary in fanfics.
I mean, it's not just the author simply stating that they don't like the character or not putting them in the fic or anything, it's the story that massively bash the characters (ie: such as killing them off in horrible ways, making them out-of-character, or giving them a bad name). I've seen these type of bash fics many many times on sites such as ff.net, mm.org, and such.
I think that sort of bashing takes away from a fanfic and makes the author look relatively immature. It's not that the author dislikes the character or anything, but when they bash the character in such an unjust way it gets kinda annoying.
Do any of you think character bashing discredits the author or the fic in general and that it could really be left out in fics. Any opinions.
