How do you think the transition from JL to JLU (from batman beyond) occured. Which group do you like better? I'll ask the cliched question, "who do you think would win in a fight"?

THE JLU stand for Justice League Unlimited. It was a version seen on Batman Beyond. It's members are: Superman, Big Barda, WarHawk, Micron, Aquagirl, and Green Lantern.

Superman - has usual powers
Big Barda - if i'm not mistaken, she's an amazon from apokolips, she's similar to wonder woman. She has this staff that she hits stuff with.
WarHawk - this dude who wears this cool costume. he flies and fights stuff.
Micron - A hero with the ability to change size.
Aquagirl - The daughter of Aquaman, who was currently missing at the time of the BB episode.
Green Lantern - this version of GL is a Buddist monk (or resembles the mannerisms/beliefs of one)
Batman - Terry McGinnis

I think that there was probably a difference in opinion somewhere down the way...
Superman became more Kryptonian, probably after the death of Lois Lane...He may have had a lot to do with the original JL dissolving because of that damned alien that controlled him...
Batman quit (Batman Beyond)
I like the Kingdom Come explanation of what happened to J'onn. He opened his mind to the world at once and the thoughts fried his brain...turning him into a scared old man
John Stewart quit, was killed or got old. (Killed)
Wonder Woman returned to her island or was killed...
Flash got old.
Hawkgirl was killed or went home...
I'm betting that the Rha's Al Ghul "Near Apocalypse of "09" had something to do with it.
As for the JLU...
Superman. He stuck around.
Micron. Looks like an Atom type character.
Green Lantern. It would appear the Lantern Corps. is no more...
Aquagirl. Aquaman went missing.
Warhawk. Just another Hawkperson...
Not sure why Barda joined. Never had her pegged for much of a joiner....

I'm not familiar with these characters in the comics...I wonder how this will compare to their animated exploits.

They needed a stand-in for Wonder Woman, whose rights were tied up elsewhere (at the time).

i heard about that...i thought it was a rumor because WW was in JL. So who do you think would win in a fight? I think JLU would beat the pants out of JL, except J'onn J'onnz would be able to turn the tables on JLU and JL would manage to defeat them.

I would say JL, becuase they seem more like a balanced team. Aquagirl and Warhawk seem like cannon fodder, pegged with the usual bland personalities and horrible powers.
JL have a solid team setup:
Batman & Superman - Heavy hitters in the areas of brain and brawn. Although Superman doesn't have the extent of detective knowledge as Batman does, he is not an idiot (although most of the time portrayed as one).
Green Lantern & Martian Manhunter - Troubleshooters. These guys could come up with anything on the spot to get the rest out of a jam. Martian Manhunter himself can do more than half the rest of the team can.
Wonder Woman - Support. Since the series has taken the silver age route where she can fly and has some amount of superior strength, Wonder Woman basically is the sturdiest in terms of combat.
Flash & Hawkgirl - These guys would probably be best place in "first wave", becuase they both are good at drawing attention (by being fast or beating stuff up) or just simply providing the first attack, soon to be followed up by the rest.

Hey, wait a second! Don't forget that we've got Superman vs. Superman and Batman(Bruce Wayne) vs. Batman(Terry McGinnis, in the high-tech costume), so couldn't we cancel those four out because they'd be busy taking on each other?
Green Lantern vs. Green Lantern is another matchup that could take forever to decide.
Then we've got Big Barda vs. Wonder Woman. Another potentially even matchup.
WarHawk vs. Hawkgirl? I don't know.
Martian Manhunter vs. Atom? I don't know.
Flash vs. Aquagirl? I guess it would depend on where they were fighting.
Bottom line: They'd fight until (1) someone got tired, (2) someone got lucky, or (3) they suddenly realized that they're on the same side. :D

Well see that right there is the annoyance I have with the whole "vs." thing. No offense meant to anyone here but if all you want to to do is see heroes beat the crap out of each other then you've missed the entire point of what any of these characters are about.

I still have a fond memory of Batman Beyond "The Call" -- I remember its action sequences were especially memorable (but I'll try not to compare it to JL action scenes, not this time)...
But on BB, Terry never joined JLU (and it almost seemed like it was implied that Bruce left before JLU), I don't know what the story is with the comics...

Young Superman would most likely wreck Old Superman, and if anyone out there doubts that Batman would snap Terry in two, I could list a whole bunch of reasons.
When they first aired "The Call," I immediately wondered how Superman could still be zipping around fighting crime while Bruce Wayne could barely walk. But I suppose being superhuman delays the aging process.

Well, I think he said he'd be there if they needed him ala Bruce in the 1st ep of JL.

Yeah, Clark'd kick Kal's butt, but as too Bruce vs. Terry...I don't think it'd be as lopsided as you're making it out to be. Yeah, Bruce is the man...but Terry has flight, and has been training under Bruce. I still think Bruce'd win...but it's be a decent fight..unless the evil aliens controling the JL side interfered with his fighting ability. There are evil aliens controling the JL, which is why this was brought up....right?

Measuring the strength of both teams, and using the above match-ups to figure out which characters would neutralize which other characters, it seems as though the modern day JL would have the edge. I would just have to bet that J'onn and the Flash are more powerful than Micron and Aquagirl.
POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOR ANYONE WHO HASN'T SEEN "THE CALL"......
Also, I thought that Batman DID join the JLU in BB, at least in an "orientation" type of capacity (or at least until Superman could expose himself as a traitor???) and was later asked to join "full time" which he declined.

Well...Wizard had the JLU get beat by the Legion...
Here's what I think it would be like...
JL Superman vs. JLU Superman
JLU Superman wins because he has increased power levels.
JL Batman vs. Terry McGinnis.
The real Batman wins easily. No contest.
JL Wonder Woman vs. Barda
Barda beats the hell out of WW.
Hawkgirl vs. Warhawk
Warhawk would beat her.
JL Green Lantern vs. JLU Green Lantern
The asian child takes out John Stewart with sheer willpower.
Flash vs. Aquagirl. They'd just flirt.
J'onn vs. Micron.
J'onn could short out Micron's brainwaves easily...
then J'onn would proceed to take out all the other JLU heroes.
Victory for the JL.

I don't know...by the end of BB, Terry was quite good himself. I think he stands a very good chance against Bruce.

Batman is highly adept at finding weaknesses in people he barely knows, so finding them in someone he himself trained would probably result easier. Not to mention Bruce's lifetime of training as opposed to Terry's, what, couple of years at most? It's not like Bruce is fighting a younger or older self. Terry's a punk kid in a rocket suit who's still learning the ropes.
And what's that about JLU Superman having increased power levels? Does this have something to do with the size of the sun in the next half a century? Remember JLU Superman is REALLY old and JL Superman is in his prime (or, from the looks of the new animation, just passing his prime).

In both Batman beyond and Kingdom Come, they state Superman is continuing to grow stronger due to absorbing solar radition.

Hrm, there doesn't seem to be much debate on this..but I think it warrents investigation, so here's my take.
Terry vs Bruce (No costumes) In Private - Bruce, In Public - Terry. Hands Down. No Question.
In Batman vs BB...it boils down to knowledge. Assuming BB has come from the Future..and has to take down Batman. Also assuming Batman has no knowledge of this. The Smart thing for BB to do, would be to attack Batman in the cave. The cave is virtually unchanged in the Future..so BB knows it almost as well as Batman. Using his Cloak & Boots..he could litterally get the drop on Batman. If BB attacks quick enough, he could take out the Bat. Bane's done it...Joker's done it...Batman is weak @home.
In a "Fair" fight though...out in public..Time is against BB. The longer the battle goes on...the less likely he is to win.

Although Bruce may win, you guys greatly underestimate terry.

I think the JL would beat the JLU because of two people. John Stewart and J'onn J'ozz. John Stewart has been a lantern way longer the JLU GL and most likely has stronger will power. He wouldn't allow himself to lose to a child. J'onn is one of the more deadly member of the JL and probably beat the JLU by himself.
