Dub Title: Pearl Jam
Japanese Title: The Emerge of the Superb Kicking Skill. Sanji VS the Iron Wall Pearl!
Chapters:53-55
Alright, if you don't know by now, One Piece has been bumped up to the 11:00AM(Central) time slot for unknown reasons. Probably just more wacky 4Kids/Fox(or whoever runs this thing anymore. Plutonians, perhaps?) thinking.
Anyway, if you've been keeping up with Shonen Jump this is pretty much the spot that it's at now. You would also know what to expect, as Sanji is the hero of the show now that Zolo has been cut in half by Mihawk and Usopp has taken off after Nami. Oh yeah, and Luffy is there too, but he doesn't really shine in this arc. Wait for the next one.
Edit:As mentioned in the SK talkback, I noticed 4kids.tv now has a forum. If you haven't registered yet to complain about the treatment of OP or demand the release of uncut subs, I suggest doing so. Just try to be civil. We can always pillage as a last resort.

Since One Piece Uncensored hasn't been updated in a while, would anyone mind if I did the edit list for this episode?

Well Pearl was a disaster.

This was my first time watching the dub and I really couldn't believe this show was once my beloved One Piece. I've never heard so many horrible voices all work on the same show. Jeez, and I thought the early Saban DBZ days were bad, but this just took the cake.
We really need those uncut subs seeing as an uncut dub would still have all these awful voices.

Hey, did you guys ever run the US intro at a super-fast speed? Get it from TDA and see the rap.... like you've never seen it before......

No, really, I will!

Hey, did you guys ever run the US intro at a super-fast speed? Get it from TDA and see the rap.... like you've never seen it before......If that was the actual opening, I'd friggin love the dub.
This was the first time I've actually seen the dub in a while (due to it formerly being on at the same time as W.i.t.c.h., which rules, BTW), and my god. Sanji really does suck. If he only appeared for one or two episodes I wouldn't mind, but he's a major character. I couldn't even watch the second half.

Haven't watched the show since the first episode, and still going.
And from the sounds of it, that was a wise decision on my part

Blood - it might have to do with its resemblance to an Invader Zim-like mainstream anime parody.

Sonic X now gets double-billing because it's 4KidsTV's best ratings earner, while Winx Club gets limited to the girly hour, as One Piece gets paired with Shaman King for the anime hour, now that KidsWB has the opposing Yugioh hour on reruns.
1. Heh, Sanji and his beloved lollipop. :D
2. What's up with Luffy looking like a dumbass howling "cooooooool!" at everything?
3. Heh, look at them chefs with the cool shades!
Notice I didn't say anything about the freaking battles themselves.

I've never seen this parody. I just think it's funny because of the squeaky high voices.

You know, One Piece is a really slow paced show. Characters could be stuck in one setting for several weeks, and a lot of time is used up on facial reaction shots.
So it's absolutely essential that the dub at least have listenable voice acting, or a witty script. So far I haven't seen much of it through my experiences with this dub. I would have thought that since 4kids is staking so much into this, they'd put their best dub staffs on it...but no.

Just regestered today. Thanks for the heads up, Mog.
As for today's episode is concerned, Sanji's VA as usual is dragging his character through a mud track through a village in France. Also Luffy's VA doing his usual "I'm impressed at your abilities but don't understand that's bad" routine poorly. The fights even though they're becoming the main focus for the remainder of the arc don't even phase me thanks to the dub. Once again as it's been stressed before, change the VA actors or tell them to take their roles more seriously. This isn't Yu-gi-oh! or Ultimate Muscle where nothing dramatic realy matters.
BTW I watched the US intro at 8x speed and only found Roger's speach funny.:anime:

 Yu-Gi-Oh has lots of dramatic moments, it's just they tend to get cut out from the dub, like the five-minute 'buddy talk' Jounouchi and Honda had on the beach.

.If the dub script was funny at least we'd have that hang on, if it can't do serious well. But the problem is I find the scripting somehow less witty than even the other 4kids shows. So it's neither funny nor serious. It's not even corny funny. Most 4kids shows are at least corny funny, like Pokemon.
These voice actors have done good work elsewhere, so we have to give them the benefit of the doubt. The blame must surely lie with the adaptation and voice director.
I've never seen this parody. I just think it's funny because of the squeaky high voices. It's not a parody, it's a group of parodies, usually stuff like ___ in a Nutshell (Dragonball Z in a Nutshell, Pokemon in a Nutshell, Yu-Gi-Oh in a Nutshell, etc.), and they all use the Invader Zim-like voices.
Also, I put the comparison for Episode 25 on my site. Enjoy.
The only 4Kids script that I think was able to be "punched up" successfully was Shaman King's. For example:
Trey: *thought* We'll all have to end up fighting each other soon. *thought*
Joco: *thought* Maybe it's best not to have friends...*thought*
Rio: *thought* There is a pebble in my shoe.*thought*

This episode didn't seem as heavily editted as the last week's episode at least. I'm saddened that no only did they give Pearl a surfer's voice (That does ask me a general One Peice Question though: Why does it seem that the Bad Guy's main powerhouse henchmen appears halfway through the big battle, where they time out and introduce him. First it's Cabji with Buggy, the Meow Meow Brothers with Kuro, and Pearl with Don Kreig) but they ignored his "Jungle Fever" backstory. I think that's important as it gives a real reason why he's so mad and flaming everywhere. (And no it's not just because he's an internet poster and saw the script for this episode). At least they left Gin's gun as a gun at the end. You know, now a slingshot of an automatic punching machine. Then again, it's probably because it's being used by a man and not aimed a child that they can get away with it being anytype of gun.
BEST PARTS: Luffy flatlining the guys in the beginning of the fight, Sanji warping away and kicking the crap out of the pirates, Sanji vrs Pearl.
GRADE: 3 Out of 5 Stars.

OMG! Episode 27's episode title is even worse than "Pear Jam"! Episode 27's title is going to be called "Here We Go A Ghin!". A lame pun on the phrase "Here We Go Again!"

Somehow I don't think a longwinded title like "The Coldhearted Devil-man. Gin, The Pirate Fleet Battle Commander!" will appeal to anyone outside the Japanese.

The amazing pointless instigator ignores the terrible pun to make a non-point.
