I just picked up Joker:Last Laugh #1 and I must say it is very good. Do you think Last Laugh's story would be a good movie? Not animated because it would be too edited, but I think a live action movie would be good.

LL would make a horrible movie. While the first issue was good, the next couple issues bordered onmediocre, and then the last issue was just plain bad. The ending was horrible as well.
I wouldn't suggest wasting your money on the other issues, especially if they're more than cover price. I hear that they are (somehow) actually going up in value. It's beyond me and many other posters here (just check out the Last Laugh threads that have already been posted. No one was happy with the ending, IIRC).
Sorry to go into rant mode, and hey, welcome to the boards.

JL Man, do not buy the rest! LL was Terrible in my opinion and Joker is my favorite character!! The ending was beyond bad too! Anyway, to answer your question, no I don't think LL would make a good movie.

I read the last issue and it was beyond bad. I'm not really worried that Dixon is leaving for CrossGen. I was severly dissapointed.

Thanks for the info! I was going to spend some Christmas money on that. Could anyone tell me any good Batman mini-series or short story-arcs that aren't too expensive?

Batman: The Long Halloween. It's in trade form now, it's only 20 bucks, and that's for 370 pages of story. You can't beat a deal like that.
Also, the sequel, Dark Victory just came out in hardcover. It's $30, for 370 pages of story, and that's still a really good deal.
Both were superb stories.

:Shudders:
I remember the Last Laugh all too well. I stopped at #3 because not only did The Joker hardly do anything in that issue but also because I didn't like Dixon's take on Harley.

seriously man, dont waste your money like i so foolishly did (i bought so many crossovers its not even funny). if the story wasnt bad enough the artwork certainly mad up for it. it was just all around bad.
but id recommend the long halloween and dark victory. you wont be dissapointed, and tim sales take on all our favorite arkamites is soooooooooooo shway!!!! especially selina, hehe. seriously, its great. its about how the gotham city underworld slowly went from being controlled by the mafia to being controlled by the freaks. peace.

Last Laugh had to potential to be an amazingly cool story. You want a quick synapsis of it? Here ya go:
SPOILERS!!!
Joker finds out he has brain tumor.
Joker decides to makes lotsa Jokers and kill people.
Things go boom.
It turns out the Joker never really had a brain tumor, but he's still convinced.
Bat-folk show up.
Nightwing kills Joker.
Huntress brings Joker back (and do I even have to mention that the Huntress would be the LAST person to save the Joker?!?! He freakin' shot her three times, and she'd just as well kill him anyway).
Nightwing goes into seclusion for precisely two hours DCU time.
Man, that sucked.
END SPOILER!
You want some GOOD Batman in collected edition, you'll check out this stuff:
Batman: Year One
Batman: The Long Halloween
Batman: Dark Victory
Batman/Huntress: Cry for Blood
No Man's Land
Batman: The Killing Joke

LL was decent at best. I thought the ending was pretty rushed and not very well done. I was really looking forward to a Batman/Joker showdown, as the cover to the last one would suggest. But we get Nightwing beating the Joker to death?! Not really big on that, I know that Dick's got a bit of an attitude but I could never see him going as far as they had him go... really not what I thought it would be...

I had high hopes for this series at first...but what the hell happened in the last issue?!?! The first few issues were awesome, but the last two ruined it. I dunno what's up with Chuck lately, but I hope his Batgirl: Year One series is good.

I highly doubt I will buy Batgirl: Year One. First, I'm not a big fan of Babs before she was Oracle. Second, it's written by Dixon and Beatty (the creative team behind Last Laugh). Before LL, I probably would've picked it up, because that's when Chuck Dixon was good, and his name would've sold me on it. But now, whatever. But it could be good. I'll just wait for the reviews.
