Here's my big question....should Action Figures, always have Action Features?

My answer: NO!

While on one hand, an X-Men Cyclops figure can have optic eyes, and still be a good figure with articulation, good scult, etc. (despite how his entire head lit up, the X-Men movie Cyclops was a really good toy!)
On the other hand, Toad. ToyBiz keeps giving him "leaping" action features. Unfortunately it never works, & gives terrible leg articulation! In the end, I would much wrather have a Toad figure with Spider-Man Classics articulation! That's what he deserves!

Remember Batman Legends? The action features limited just about all articulation! That sucked!

So many toys with Punching action, which left them standing on your shelf, with what looked like a broken arm.

So, would you wrather have a figure with good sculpt & articulation? OR one that has a stupid action feature that probably doesn't work right.
Action Features are what accessories are for...

There will be a new Toad figure, that's like the Spidey Classics line, coming out sometime early next year in what is being called the Marvel Legends line. However, the Toad figure looks horrible and it will be the only figure in that line I won't be picking up (there's also a Captain America, Hulk, and Iron Man, and they all look GREAT).

I agree that features should not always be there. On the X-Men Evolution Cyclops, you can't get him to stand becuase his kick keeps popping up as you set him down. My roommate, however, did get Toad's flip to work once or twice, tho.

And the X-Men line's Beast. I could never get that thing to work. It looked great (as did most of the original X-Men toys), but it's "feature" was worthless.

The SPAWN (and all McFarlane Toys) have almost no articulation, but I can't bring myself to care most times, because they look really, really good. Especially the Ash & Evil Ash figs. Love 'em.

Preferably both. But if one compromises the other, i'd go w/ the good movements over the features. Who would actually use Toad's jumping action while playing w/ him? I would just pick up the toy and pretend it jumped. And when i'm not playing w/ them, i'd at least want it to look nice.

i detest action features. that's mainly why i have a grudge against toy-biz..it's pretty much law that 98% of they're figures in each line must have some really lame action feature that pretty much ruins the whole figure...but hey, i mean, they are really making these figures for young kids..kids probably get a pretty big kick out of using those features. they probably have fun with them and that's what they're really made for in the end...sucks for collectors like me, but when i think about that factor, i guess i don't mind it too much. once in a while we get a bone thrown to us with these lines like legends and classic covers.. i guess i can't complain all that much.

My favourite action figures are the early 3 3/4" GI Joe figures - NONE of which had 'action features'. What's the point of an 'action feature' anyway? ISN'T THAT WHAT A KIDS IMAGINATION IS FOR?????

Kids are the primary market for toys, unless you get into speciality store figures. A couple years back, there was such whining about R5D4 with an interior in which to insert a projectile. "It's not accurate" blah blah blah... Anyway, my big frustration right now is that most every HP movie figure I've wanted are only plentiful on ebay thanks to an absurd shipping bit. And Dumbledore has two of the same freaking arm,,,
