Battlestar Galactica
109 - Tigh Me Up, Tigh Me Down
Roslin's fear that Adama is a Cylon
is stoked when he makes secret calls and a
Cylon Raider buzzes the Galactica.
Comments?
Noticed there wasn't one up yet, so...

Col.Tigh's wife is found....she's a slut and possible Cylon.
A couple of things:
-When the #6 on Caprica looked upset when the other Cylon talked about Sharon's love of Helo. Could she be missing Baltar??
-I am getting tired of the Baltar/6 plotline. Now, he is not going to admit if someone is a Cylon? I mean c'mon.
-The scene where Starbuck walks in on him was very funny.

Starbuck walking in, the guards that were standing right there didnt notice or hear that? i was rolling. The Boomer on Caprica apparently has a soul now, i wonder how Helo is going ot react when the secret comes out.

Well well. I didn't think the producers even had any comedy episodes planned for this season. But there it is, in all of its slutty glory. You know, Tigh's nympho wife really puts things in perspective with Six. Sure, Six is driven by sex, but at least she's not an overtly flirty nympho drunken whore. I can't blame Starbuck for taking that shot in the miniseries. Ellen Tigh is a slutty slut slut. She hit on everyone but the women, although she might've made a pass or two at President Roslin.
The episode really had me going once everyone started fighting in Baltar's lab. You had Ellen accusing Adama of hitting on her, Adama accusing Ellen of being a Cylon, Roslin accusing Adama of being a Cylon, Tigh accusing his own wife of being a liar, secret meetings coming out, and Baltar going out of his mind because these people have no business in his lab.
And let's not forget Starbuck catching Baltar while he was... um... busy. Getting busy!
It's curious that the Boomer on Caprica said she didn't want to die. Now that she's betrayed Six and Whatshisname, do you think they've destroyed all of the other copies of her body? We saw at the end of the miniseries that multiple copies of one humanoid Cylon can run at the same time, so what do you think they did with all of the other Boomers?

Sent 'em to Bubblegum Crisis? I got nothin' ;)
Pretty "meh" episode. I can see BSG, like DS9 isn't really suited to do comedy episodes very well, but I'm willing to chalk it up to a misfire and hope for better fare next week.

Yes, I think the problem with BSG is when it tries to inject humour, it doesn't do it naturally. It sets a scene to be funny rather than allowing the story have some humour or the actors to carry a joke. Personally, I find Baltar makes me laugh every time he squirms so I don't need any extra humour.
So yeah, some of the scenes in this episode, as with the restroom gag in "Six Degrees.." just felt forced. The music didn't help. We don't need the direction of the scene underlined.. that doesn't fit the shows ideology.
I wasn't overkeen on this one, beyond the Adama question.
The final pull back with Baltar dreaming center spot was great though. :)

Howdy,
If anybody cares what Ronald Moore has to say about the episode, he's got a podcast writer commentary up on the SciFi channel's website (http://www.scifi.com/battlestar/downloads/podcast/). You can either download via some XML auto-sync magic computer voodoo thing that confuses and bewilders me, or just download a straight MP3 file and pause during the commercials.
They're also posting deleted scenes (http://www.scifi.com/battlestar/episodes/season01/109/) for this and other episodes.

this was decent, though probably the weakest of season 1. the next 4 eps are fantastic though, so i wont complain.

I'm really trying to like this show. I swear, but I just can't help but laugh as how bad some parts are.
Ok, you are under attack from nympho sexbots who can take human form... and you let one person set up the detection device and run it??? no double check? Not at least having a lab assistant? Common... if they are this stupid they deserve to die.
One perk is I can now fast forward thoguh all the pointless sex scenes which cuts the show down a good 5 minutes now. God bless you TIVO.
On the plus, side, this weeks ep, "Hand of God," has been riveing start to finish. Got NO big complaints about it. No sir. :)
Yeah. . .someone should I dunno. . .start a Talkback thread about it or something. ;)
