I dont know if people have already started discussing this show , but frankly it is one of the best I've seen.

Im very sad that the show is over. :(

But It has a movie at least in Japan now , that may come to America withing One or Two Years!

Premiring in August 2001 it was a blockbuster ( Although it had some other movies up against it )

The film had all of ther same staff and workers on the show.
Thery were delited to be working on a film for Cowboy Bebop , though they admited they were uncertain about making one at first.

They just did'nt know if they should , because the series was over and they did not want to ruin the whole series.

It truely is a masterpiece. Come on ........

7 Soundtracks
26 Episodes
1 Movie

WHATS NOT TO LIKE?

The movie is especially done well. I think it's title is "Knockin' on Heaven's Door." It's supposed to take place before the final three episodes of the series. It has some special characters in it (like every episode of cowboy bebop), but this one plays with themes that I've never seen dealt with. Cowboy Bebop has a great habit of doing this. Unfortunately, I've only seen the one with subtitles, so I don't get the thrill of hearing Roger Smith's voice (from Big O). As a warning, Ed's voice changes into a strange high pitched droning in japanese.

The soundtrack is wonderful for the movie, as well. I believe it's Yoko Kanno from the original series who is working on the soundtrack, who also happened to do the Macross Plus movie, another powerful movie.

I've also heard rumors of a Cowboy Bebop 2 series to come out. If I hear any more details, I'll be sure to drop a note on here.

The Above is true However the part you mentioned of a Second Series is false........At least at the moment.

The creators said they MIGHT make another show dealing with stuff around the Bebop world.

BUT , It wont be the series at all. They confirmed the reasons for this was because in doind so the quality of the first episodes might be ruined and they already :

SPOILER < SPOILER < SPOILER ALERT!

Killed Off the main characters......

The show does have music from Yoko Kanno and others for music.

How many people knew that Cowoby Bebop originally aired on a Japanese channel with the equivelnt of our HBO , and that it was cancelled?

The channel's name is WowWow.

I think Adult Swim should show a movie special "Knockin on Heavens Door". Or, give it to Toonami to show on their "Inflight Movie" which is always in constant syndication.

Uh, DON'T AIR IT ON INFLIGHT MOVIES.

If it aired on Inflight Movies, the running time would go from 2 hours to 1. :)

We dont want to see it cut THAT BAD.

Right?

Well , I have to say that I dont think CN would even think of doing Cowboy Bebop ANYTHING on Toonami because its already aired on Adult Swim and that would make some people very mad.

Nope. Not true. Watanabe (the director) has in fact stated just the opposite:

". . .whether or not there will be a sequel to the hit TV series and movie, Cowboy Bebop.

Well, if it's an Anime sequel that you're looking for, the answer is probably no. In an interview Cowboy Bebop director Shinichiro Watanabe expressed his belief that they should quit while they are ahead, 'It's more in keeping with the Bebop spirit.'

Furthermore, in another interview, published in Asahi Shinbun (Japanese), with Watanabe and music director Sugano, it was stated that 'Watanabe stated that he was not willing to make a new series, because the taste of BeBop lies in the sadness (heart-rending sorrow) that things have to come to an end (Owatte shimau koto no setsunasa). He is afraid that if he continues making new series, the work would be dull. So, he thinks it rather 'kakkoii' (cool) to end the title here.'"

Again, that's not *quite* so. Cowboy Bebop originally aired on a family-minded channel along the lines of ABC or CBS. They played less than half the episodes then canceled it. Shortly there-after, WowWow picked it up and aired all of the episodes. I don't believe that they "cancelled" it, at least not until they played it a few times through.

Well, that sucks. Becuase, when it comes down to it, it makes sense to end the series as it is. But since the series was so deeply rooted in sadness and other themes of sorrow, the natural human tendency is to want closure in a happier means. At least with me, I was close to screaming at the television when I was watching those last scenes (I watched it on DVD awhile ago). It blew me away that they didn't give you a shred of what happened with the others, and it took a great deal of thought before I realized that the point was in the fact you never know.

If they ever did anything else with the series, I guess the only thing I'd like would be if they did some more bounties they went after, but even that only has so long. One thing I wonder though, is the natural thing to do with creating such a thing that lasts only so long is how coveted it's going to get. People are gonna end up murdering each other for this stuff.

And if there ever was a superspy award, I'd give it to Fata for being more informed than any of us.

Yeah, its sad to see the series end, but I'd rather seen it end than drone on and on with no point. Case example: DBZ and Sailor Moon....of course it seems that each season has some goal they want to accomplish, but overall, there is no doubt the hero will win. Cowboy Bebop was interesting in the way it provided an anti-hero formula, in which you couldn't really say they were the good guys or bad.

You were right about everything ( I've already heard and read those Interview stuff ) , except about the last thing you replied to.

It was the other way around , unless Animerica made a BIG maistake. I get it and noticed an article on that.

Well, it's not as if Animerica hasn't made mistakes like this before. I've heard the story about CB from more than one source, some of them from people who actually watched the series on Japanese TV. Here's a page with the original air dates of the episodes:

http://niko-niko.net/bebop/guide.html

As you can see, 12 episodes were played during the first airing, while all of them were played when WowWow picked it up.

The other cast members lived--that's all you need to know. (Okay, I'm annoying people with this now...;))

I dunno about you, but I love downbeat endings. I like seeing the good guys not getting their rewards--to me, it just rings more true and is ultimately more satisfying to me, entertainment-wise. In real life, of course, I want everyone to be happy and have good things happen to them, but when it comes down to creative works, I'm a sadistic b@$t@rd. ;)

Can't wait until Gundam fans get a taste of Zeta Gundam, if it gets on TV. That ending's one slap in the face to viewers who got so attached to the characters the writers worked so hard on developing, and I love it. :D

I'm not so sure. Based on their past policy of deleting violence (watch Ballad of Fallen Angels, the Real Folk Blues on AS to see what I mean) do you think they'll leave in the part when Spike shoots Wen in the head? I mean come on, if they're going to erase a couple of blood splotches on the floor, do you think they will WON'T edit a scene where a kid gets shot in the face?

Fata Morgana
12-13-2001, 12:50 AM
Well, at this point they've universally edited all similar instances, so there's no reason for them to chang their ways now. If they had re-edited the first episode to include a certain edit, then I could see them including the things you mentioned. Like as not, they'll just erase some of the blood/gore, but leave the scene intact otherwise.

After all,
He's not _really_ a kid, is he?

The thing that I'm wondering whether they'll edit out or not is
The sweaty man sex in 'Waltz for Venus'

I'm just curious as to how far their willing to go in that respect. I mean, you don't actually _see_ anything during that scene, do you? But the suggestion itself may be too much for CN.

Hmmm...maybe that 'll be one of those cases where it was a good idea to edit it.
Well, we shall see what we shall see...
