What does everyone think are the WORST animated movies out there? I'm talking bad, bad script, and even worse animation. These are the movies that you just want to burn.

Anyone have any good ones?

I always wanted to watch Cool World. Then I saw a bit of it on Sci-fi and I just couldn't stand the Roger Rabbit cookie cutterness. Toons in Roger Rabbit= Doodles in Cool World. Maybe I didn't give it a fair shake, because I saw only the middle of it, but it looked like something stoners watch while listening to Pink Floyd.

Brave Little Toaster needs to be toasted.

Isn't funny how children will watch cartoons even they know is bad over and over again?

The animated version of Titanic, the one with the mice where everybody lives happilly ever after at the end. I have never seen it, but I know it has to suck.

They actually made an animated version of Titanic!!! What on earth could they have been thinking! I guess I'm glad I've never heard of it.

Yep. You can find a discussion of it (and a link to a review) in this thread (http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10339&highlight=Titanic)

One of the worst animated movies I've ever seen would have to be either Cool World or The Princess & The Goblin.

The Swan Princess
Quest for Camelot

The basic Idea of Coolworld was good..but the movie was SO BAD. The story just ended up being unbareable.

I hate those Land Before Time movies. Sorry, I know they're popular, but they just bother me...I love dino stuff....but at some point...those kids gotta be extinct.

My vote would also have to go to those Land Before Time sequels because they really just don't live up to the beauty and excellence that was the first film.

Land Before Time, however many there are.

Fern Gully

Titanic (which I actually saw...that movie stinks eggs)

The Swan Princess

The Beauty and the Beast Christmas movie.

'The Pebble and the Penguin'
'The Swan Princess' and all of its sequals
'The Land Before Time' sequals
And don't forget all of the DTV Disney sequals

IMHO...Pokemon 1 and 2. I had to see them with two friends, one of whom is older than me by six months.

Speaking from an objective point of view, I didn't think either of them were well done in terms of animation and storyline. I know they're kiddie movies, but they could've been better.

While the second one was marginally better than the first (it had something resembling a plot, albeit cliched), the 2D characters against a 3D background in the "action" shots was jarring. I said, out loud in the theater, "Wow. That looks bad."

i actually liked fern gully, but havent seen it in a long time, so maybe i wouldnt like it now.

but heavy metal 2000 was really bad, imo. bad writing, bad characters, bad animation, it was such a dissapointment.

I actually liked Swan Princess. But, Like DerekPowers said, I haven't seen it in a while, so maybe it's bad after all.

I ten to dislike the Bluth stuff, though. Even Fifel. Haven't see "Nim" or however you spell it, in ages so can't comment on that one.

Another one is not Land Before Time or Dinosaur, but the one where the kid meets Dinosaurs in the big city. That one movie had the villian ate by crows and only his eye is left. Why do kids' movies like Fern Gully have such creepy stuff? Disney knows how to make an animated film, Fox does not. An example of an interesting villian is the one off of Emperior's New Groove.

The Secret of NIMH 2! I've never seen a sequel completely wreck an established mood like this one... eew.

But if you haven't seen the original, that's a problem you need to correct post haste!

I thought of another bad animated movie last night: Titan A. E.

the one where the kid meets Dinosaurs in the big city.

Duncanzits, I remember that movie. I have no idea what it was called, just that the dinosaurs all lived in a museum or something and talked to kids, and the T-Rex was playing golf on a rooftop.

Any of the Land Before Time sequels, but I did enjoy the first one.
Any of the Disney sequels. (Pixar sequels do not count!)

I liked The Brave Little Toaster, but I haven't seen it in a while..

Fern Gulley was the biggest chunck of crap I've ever seen. Don't forget those Land Before Time sequels.

Oh, let's not be too hard on all sequels, I mean after all, The Rescuers Down Under was much better than the first. I actually laughed at it.

I believe it was called "We're Back!--A Dinosaur Story". We have it on tape. I wish we would burn it; it's freaky. That's the one where the kids turn into monkeys, the dinosaurs turn into REAL-LIFE dinosaurs (snarling, roaring, all that stuff), aaaaand there's also that ringleader with the metal eye, or something.

This movie completely changes the ending that Orwell wrote, which makes quite a statement about the human condition.....One of the best of its type ever written. The animated version, done in the 50s I think, maybe someone can help me on that, changes the ending, and changes the message that George Orwell was trying to make in the original book...awful to say the least...

The first Land Before Time movie was pretty decent, the sequels were just.........crap.

I haven't seen Fern Gulley in a while, so I don't know how I'd feel on that now. A number of Disney sequels were pretty bad also.

I have to offer some rebuttal to Titan AE, I think it was well done, exceptional special effects, some good music, decent story, alright, not the best, but in my opinion, not the worst, or even "bad" There is so much junk out there, Pokeman, et al, that makes this one look good, very good.....by the way, its financial failure, ended the career, of the director of Land Before Time, and American TAil, both, considered outstanding by many. Don Bluth...Titan lost close to 100 million, and closed 2O th Century Fox's animation studio....

NOOooooo!!!

I LOVED the brave little toaster! (the original, anyway, not the sequels)

...It was based on a children`s book by a sci-fi author, and the people who created it went on two write "Toy Story" and most of the other Pixar films...its old and dated, but I always thought it was cute, and the musical number sung by the creepy broken appliances is one of my all-time favorite songs.

I liked fern gully too...mostly because Tim Curry is great as the pollution spirit, but,Tim Curry is just generally great anyway.

Those land before time sequels are probably the only animated films ive seen that Ive actually hated. The original movie was the first I ever saw in theatres, and it continues to be a great movie...the sequels are just terrible! Not only bad writing and bad animation but awful singing added and a lot of painfully bad attempts to be as touching and deep as the original...

I definitely agree with the last one. Sis and I disliked it so much we took to calling it "Return of Ja-fart."

And for some reason I found "Rock-a-Doodle" and "All Dogs Go to Heaven" disturbing. Maybe because there wasn't much of a point in either one? I dunno, it's been so long since I saw them...

RockItShipper

"Pinocchio and the Emperor of the Night", and "Happily Ever After".

What's worse than Disney making cheap sequels to their movies?

Why, Filmation doing it for them...

Heh actually that Dino-series "Land Before Time - whatever" well there is just a new one out for Direct To Video. Now they encounter the iceage..*sigh*

You know - I actually kinda liked the Swan Princces and I saw it in the theatres. The only thing I found extremly stupid was the monster " it is not what it looks like " or something like that cuz the story could carry the kidnapping of the princces with out having Derek go look for something that could be anything....
And...ahem - I kinda love that song "this is my idea" :-D

How many "Land Before Time" movies did they make? 30? 40? And most pressing of all... WHY???

The Scobby Doo movies, like when Abbot & Costello show up (??) and Batman & Robin showed up (well, that one was actually watchable), and weirdest of all, the Globetrotters (???????????????????????????????)

Hey, Stinky Cat, I see you seem to be testing out some of the fun features on this board. There is a board on this site just for that purpose alone, it's down in the miscellaneous boards. I know it won't add to your post count, but you already have like 30 posts + per day in about five days, so I don't think it will hurt your average too bad! :)

Sorry, I don't understand "dissing" . Does that mean you liked it, or hated it, or don't want it knocked.please clarify... Secret of NIMH, was the first Don Bluth directed movie,(he had just left Disney) which opened up the arena to other producers...His production company lost some, not a lot on it ..Then his next project, Land Before Time, was actually produced by Spielberg (none of the sequels were directed or prduced by the people that did the original, and only a few voices stayed on) Spielberg has had a long love affair with toons, and actually wrote an introduction to a book on Chuck Jones...With Spielberg's marketing abilities, Land Before Time, which was very well written, and had some great music, about never giving up, and hope, lead to many other excellent Bluth films, and made lots of money .Although Speilberg's assoication with Bluth was short, the idea of having a true competitor to Disney hadn't really existed before then...I really liked The Secret of NIMH. Very interesting story, some beautiful backgrounds, good sci fi feel: an interesting side note: the voice of the child mouse who became sick, I think was Will Ryan, later starred as the teenage cadet in "Start Trek Next Generation"

Cartoonresearch.com has all the animated movies from each decade.

Someone can just copy and paste the list here and omit the few good animated movies.

I would do it but I am lazy and haven't seen too many animated movies!

The worst animated feature I've seen is the animated musical version of King Kong that Warner Home Video released a couple of years ago. Not a promising idea to begin with, it had songs by the Sherman Brothers (who wrote songs for two of my favorite Disney features Mary Poppins and The Jungle Book) and voices by Jodi Benson and Dudley Moore. I thought it might be at least interesting with a certain level of professionalism.

Was I wrong! A real bore in all respects.

Yah, we had to watch the animated version in my history class two years ago. Besides the fact that it made the book seem cheezy and lame, it did wreck the message of the book. There was no happy ending, but for some inexplicable reason the makers saw fit to add one!

Light Angle: I showed that in my classroom, in the early or mid 80s, a 16mm version. After it was over, I had to explain the fact that the authors version had been totally destroyed.....I did not have them read the book, it was a current history class, and 1949, really was not up to date, especially the allusions to Stalin and Lenin, but that was truly an awful movie. Thanks for your comment.

Thanks for the responses, everyone. I decided to go with The Swan Princess for my report on animated movies. I'm using it as an example of why the stigma that "Animation is kiddie-fare" is still in existance. I can't believe I watched it all the way through. Horrid.

So thanks again! I couldn't have done it without you!
