This is the talkback thread for Animated Criticism: An Orphaned Deer and a Pig in a Plane (http://news.toonzone.net/article.php?ID=1976).

I wish I had money so I could actually buy these discs. This was the worst month to be in crazy debt DVD-wise.

Also, I hope Chris Beveridge knows I still love him. That said, I really did have no idea what that line meant.

The Austin Chronicle obviously buys into [Tree of Palme] a bit more, calling it “a heady, dense metaphor for everything from the struggle for self-knowledge and personal growth to the aging process” and ascribing to it “gorgeous, dreamlike imagery” as well as “enough cinematic allusions and philosophical meditations to give all of the robots in A.I. a run for their money.”

I've got to say that it doesn't exactly lend the reviewer credibility that he considers this comparison high praise. (-:

Anyway, I like the concept behind the Animated Criticism column, and at the risk of being a suckup, you did a good job of condensing the articles. Keep it up!

You said it. Though I've got a screener here so I'll probably end up judging for myself.

Thanks! That failed experiment from a couple years ago got me a lot of practice picking out the essential parts of a review. It's going to be good to actually do something with it.
