....I'm sure you've seen this type of thread before so I'll keep it brief.
I know the manga is out in the US now but its quite a distance from being near the end of the anime.
I really, really, would like to know what happened to...well...pretty much everyone. So some spoilers would be nice.
Good series, but such a shocking twist near the end. The last 2 eps totally changed the style of the series. I was impressed but shocked at the same time.
But I'm babbeling. Somebody tell me what happened ASAP, please!

There is a very high chance that BERSERK will get a second season. The author just needs to finish with the manga first. :)

It's still going on?
It's on Volume 28 or somewhere around there, and it's only about halfway finished. We've got a long way to go.

Don't say this if you don't mean it. :crying:
Do you have any proof of this? This is currently my favorite all time anime, and I have a gang o' pals that would explode if they found out that the series would actually continue.
If you got a source, PLEASE share!!!

I'm a huge Berserk fan, of both anime and manga. But the manga is slipping as of late... After Gattsu got the berserker armor , it started to get more and more less dramatic. As of now, its pretty light [chapter 252, the newest, was meh]. Chapter 253 looks like it will be interesting from the preview, but I've stopped reading the stuff regularly after Volume 26. Doesn't seem like Gattsu's party [which is too big] is going anywhere in terms of story... Anyways, I've ranted long enough, definitely check out the manga, as it is pretty amazing... Especially after the Eclipse.

There is none. The chances of having a second season Berserk is as high as having a second season of Bebop. (note: even though Berserk still has an ongoing manga, the Bebop anime is waaaaay more popular than Berserk, even after years of the no activity in the land of Bebop)

Great. Okay, well if anything changes, let me know. I now have to go back to a bunch of friend who'll be looking to kill me now for getting their hopes up.

I dunno, I've been hearing rumors of a second season for over a year now. If it's not true then the perpetuators need to be shot for teasing!!!

Things like that and me are to blame :D
Anyways, there could be a second season, I wouldn't completely say no or yes, just hope for yes and prepare for no. Volume 28 of the manga is about to be released in japan.....dark horse is really taking its sweet time I dont' know what volume they're on, they're going slower than fruits basket.....

I'd say there is a much higher chance for a Berserk Season II than for Bebop. Media Blasters wants to fund it. The composer for the first anime wants to work on it again. I think Miura himself is interested. All these were reaffirmed at this past Katsucon (look up old AoD thread for more on this). Just don't expect it for a good while.

Berserk S2 has been in talks for years now. The Media Blasters funding idea stemmed waaaaay back while they were still releasing Berserk (around in 2002-April 2003). There even came a time in 2003 when they said Berserk was in "pre-production," but all came down to nothing. As for the director, Takashi Naohito, he's always said that he wanted to do a follow up after depciting the events after the Eclipse, of course, nothing happened. I am aware of the Katsucon "progress" from last year, but of course, who wouldn't want to fund Berserk? Hell, I'd fund for it. Just becuase someone wants to fund it and the mangaka is 'interested' doesn't mean it's going to get made. Of course, I'm not ruling it out entirely either, with A!MG recently getting a tv series. But as of now, I wouldn't expect a Berserk season 2 sometime soon. Personal opinion, I'm not expecting a Berserk S2. My reasons are the same as the Ms. Answerman's column on ANN (if anyone reads it.) Also, let me rephrase the line I wrote, Having another season of Berserk is as high as having another season of Hellsing.
As for the link posted in the first quote, complete BS. It's 2005 already. Unless there's credible evidence about staff, credit, animation house, then do not believe anything.

Have these people also offered you a great deal on Florida real estate?
I've heard the same rumors you have, and never, not once, has there been anything like a credible source to back it up. Sounds like wishful thinking to me.

Oh you're totally right. I'm just sayng "very unlikely but possible" (which could happen in 1 year from now if ever or 5 years from now if ever or more) instead of "never". Bebop II I'd file under "never". Berserk II under "very unlikely but possible".

Berserk second season has a very good chance of happening, but the author doesn't believe that enough story has been done yet in the manga for a second season. Since Berserk did so well in Europe and the US, as long as the author doesn't lose interest in more anime, it should come eventually.
Credible enough for ya all?

Not to mention PS2's got a pretty awesome Berserk game on the way.

As I said in my past post, he said that EXACT quote (well different variations, but same idea) for THREE YEARS IN A ROW. I believe the second one was during Anime Expo 2003. You would have thought by that quote that it would have entered pre-production by now. Hell, even THAT exact quote has it's doubts. Notice the line "as long as the author doesn't lose interest in more anime" not to mention the fact that "it should come eventually" is the vaguest thing ever. There's also "has a good chance of happening" in that quote instead of the more surer "It WILL happen." If you read the quote carefully, it just turns out to be an assumption and no concrete, 100% backed up evidence. If you even consider the rumors that came from Japan after it's initial airing, then the rumors of season 2 has been going around for literally years now.
Anyhow, my point here is, it's pretty stupid to get hopes up. Like Dr. Croc said above, "very unlikely, but possible". I wouldn't personally say "Oh yea, Berserk S2 is going to happen, we just don't know when.(like in this thread)" Which results to reactions like JC's. It's sad cause it might not even happen at all.
Another thing, (my personal opinion) Unless it's from Miura, or Naohito's direct Japanese mouth that it's going to happen (or Japanese animation studio), then don't assume it going to happen.
edit:I will guarantee that Media Blasters will say something about this matter again by the end of the year or next year. 100%, they've been doing it since 02.

Bah.. hope's a good thing. While disappointing that it'll not happen or never happen, I'm okay with keeping hope alive.
I remember a time when it was thought impossible for Cowboy Bebop to come to CN and now it's nuthin', so, we shall see.
In the meantime, thankfully there's still other good stuff out there.

Credible or not, that statement would be correct. The Berserk anime is [very loosely] volumes 4-13 [and some of 1 I suppose], and if it took that many volumes for just 25 episodes, it may take a lot more for another season that focuses on story, and not filler [currently we are at vol 28, which isn't too good so far...]. And as it is now, the manga has a good amount of filler lately. Also, the anime didn't do too well at its timeslot, so perhaps it might have to be toned down a bit [even though the anime is tamer as it is...] to get it on earlier. The manga has a good following, but the anime isn't as popular over there, and many fans were just hardcore fans of the manga.

Three years ago, I'd have been eagerly wringing every bit of hope out of every rumor coming out of the mill and mailing off letters to animation studios and distributors in hopes of doing my own small part to help.
But see, I already did all that with the Big O, and I got my wish-- a second season, co-funded by an American company and bringing back all the major talent on both sides of the Pacific. And you know what? Like so many franchises that get resurrected after a long hiatus, it just wasn't as good. So I'm more inclined to take a wait-and-see approach this time around. If it gets made, I'll check it out, and if it's as good or nearly as good as the first season, I'll rejoice. But I'm not getting my hopes up.

AnimeNation's Ask John column got updated with this exact question and here is John's response:
JOHN'S ANSWER REGARDING SECOND SEASON OF BERSERK! (http://www.animenation.net/news/askjohn.php?id=1046)
So unless interest in japan for a second season of Berserk! climbs, chances of seeing one are very slim to none.

Seriously though, Berserk season 2 is as definite a possibility as there ever was - arguing "WELL JUST CUZ SOME PEOPLE WANNA MAKE IT DON'T MEAN IT GONN' HAPPEN!!!" is pretty pointless, since we can really say the same thing about anything.

The anime was really the best part of the story. Not to say the rest is horrible(and maybe it'll pick up again) but it just doesn't have the same feeling to it. I mean you know what happened at the end oft he anime that's generally a bad thing to do. I think the best course of action would have been episode 26. You still have a bit of a cliffhanger but not the agonizing one we have now.
