Though I guess everyone knows this by now, thought it'd be worth mentioning the death of a Beatle (the source of various animated parodies/tributes on A!, PatB, the Simpsons, and the Powerpuff Girls, among other favorite shows of ours):

GEORGE HARRISON: It's been done... (from "Homer's Barbershop Quartet", "The Simpsons")

As a tribute to Mr. Harrison, this afternoon I dug out my old 45 recording of 'My Sweet Lord' and played it several times, at high volume.
Rest in peace, George.

This is reminding me alot of my dad's death. He was a year younger than George and had cancer, too.
Add my thoughts to Olivia, Dhani and the rest of the family. May George be reborn as nice a guy as he left.

It's a tragic thing that's occured. One of my best friends had an obsessive, well maybe obsessive isn't the right word now, on George. She was so upset to day, that she went home sick. I just feel bad for her, as well as George's family of course.

A local radio station right now is replaying various Beatles/independently-written songs by Harrison...right now, they're playing stuff from the "Concert For Bangladesh", apparently somebody's vinyl copy (from their comments about "switching the album over" and the sounds of a record needle being picked up/record being turned over).

Wasn't much in the way of tribute on the radio or anywhere else out here on Long Island, as far as I could tell. I made a spectacle of myself singing "Something" for anyone who cared to listen when I got to school yesterday, mostly because it was the only Harrison song I know the words to off the top of my head.
From what I've read, he seems to have been the most dependable, unassuming one of the group. Lennon and McCartney, of course, had the greater talent, the greater charisma, and ultimately the greater egos. Harrison worked diligently and quietly, doing some wonderful stuff, but never making a big show of it.
Brave to the end, though, they've said. That's the way to go.

WAAAHHHH!!!
Ah....I'm gonna sound dumb, but to me the Beatles always seemed like they'd live forever. This has kinda been a shock to me...he'll be sorely missed.
...we'll miss ya, George. You and your family will be in my prayers. :(
