According to the LA Times, DIC and Nelvana aren't the only companies gearing to take control of Fox Kids and NBC's Saturday morning blocks.

Added to the list are Sony, Discovery Communications, and 4 Kids Entertainment. But the two newest competitors are quite surprising; Nickelodeon and AOL Time Warner have now begun to bid. Other companies which have shown interest include Mainframe Entertainment, MGM, DIC and Nelvana.

It's all up in the air right now, but FOX and NBC both promise to soon reveal the winning bidders. The cost will be somewhere between $5 - 10 million.

NBC is said to be taking offers from Nickelodeon, Discovery Communications and Warner Bros. to program its three hour Saturday programming block, which airs from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM (and 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM in some other markets). Officials will meet tomorrow, Tuesday, December 4th, to discuss their options. Discovery Communications, owner of the Discovery Channel and Discovery Kids network, was said to be the front-runner last week, however, the offers from Nickelodeon and Warner Bros. still stand. An announcement regarding who programs the block is forthcoming.
