Oh, well you should've stated so in your first post, then - otherwise it looked like just a simple statement of fact and I didn't really see where you were hoping to take the thread. That's all.
Anyway, I don't know if Disney actually OWNS Family Channel, but they do have a lot of their material on the channel. I remember relying on Family Channel heavily to tape reruns of the old Disney Afternoon series of the early 90's after they were moved exclusively to Toon Disney, which I didn't get.
Also, the lack of commercial breaks were always a plus.

I don't think Disney owns any channels in Canada, as they would have to choose another company to outsource the programming to... or create a company in Canada.
That's one reason why Cartoon Network, or any other Turner channels, don't exist in Canada.

We get CNN and TBS up here. Turner wons both of them.
Or do you mean that it's not a Canadian exclusive TV station.
Besides, what's wrong with us having the Family Channel?
Vrak TV also aired "The Famous Jett Jackson" for a time.

No. Canada's Family Channel are not affiliated by Disney. This channel have just acquisitions to the Disney series. This channel are affiliated by Astral Media: http://www.astralmedia.com/en/business/Television/family/default.aspx
Another reason to not have CN and other Turner channels, that's because the famous and crappy CRTC laws to ordnered all canadians channels airing 60% Canadian shows. But of course, how contain the american movies air in our channels!!!

Only reason how I knew was because my favourite Canadian actor appeared in a couple of episodes, but in French, it got changed to "Jett Jackson".

Umm... what's the point of this thread? As far as I know, Family Channel is partially owned by Disney. It used to be the English equivalent of Canal Famille, but that soon became Vrak TV which started to follow the YTV model rather than the old Family Channel one. The English Family Channel isn't completely owned by Disney, but they have pretty much sold out to them and incorporate them into their promotions and programming every chance they get.

Given the state the majority of the station's currently in, do we even WANT Cartoon Network anymore? The 60% law is a bit stupid, but I definitely don't think we should allow American stations in left and right.

I wouldn't mind having CN.
I'd be able to chat with folks on here to see what I'm missing and catch up on.
