I have a few coffee table books on my, well, coffee table, between the couch and TV in my apartment. I pick my coffee table books carefully, but they're some of the best books you can buy. Large, lots of excellent illustrations, colorful, lots of content (usually in an encyclopedia-like manner). What's not to love? :p

Well, what's bothering me is that, I don't have all my loves represented on my coffee table. I have my academic interests (books on astronomy & space travel, National Geographic atlases of the world & U.S. history) and most of my hobbies (Transformers, Star Wars, 24th Century Star Trek) represented. Except for one major one -- Where's my modern DCAU coffee table book? :(

Hopefully some publisher is just waiting until the modern DCAU comes to a close (perhaps when JLU ends, but who knows?) so that when they publish this coffee table book it will be "complete".

Well, in my hopes that this modern DCAU coffee table book will one day be published, what do you want in this book? Here's what I want to see:

-lots and lots of illustrations, including artwork, screecaps, and stuff like maps, starcharts, pseudo-science blueprints, etc.
-an encyclopedia of heroes, villians, teams, other characters, locations, significant events, etc.
-character sections & episode guide sections for every show -- B:TAS/TNBA, S:TAS, JL/JLU, BB (even with much more abbreviated sections for SS, TZP, and perhaps even TT)
-a general timeline of the modern DCAU (as best as can be fit; why not hire Fone Bone to write this section? ;) )
-interviews with artists, writers, and producers, especially the head honchos like Bruce Timm, and voice actors that played a significant role in the modern DCAU, such as Kevin Conroy and Phil LaMarr

That's all I can think of for now. What else could we add to make this coffee table book tres perfect?

I would buy it.

Say, wouldn't it be great if this coffee table book actually had flip-out legs and turned into a coffee table itself?

I'm going to patent this before anyone else thinks of it. :D

You mean like Kramer in Seinfeld? ;)

The coffee table book could come with the special edition DVD of
Justice League Uncensored
It would be Kevin Conroy, Phil Lamarr, Susan Eisenberg, Carl Lumbly, Maria Canals, George Newbern, and Micheal Rosenbaum all dressed up as their characters, just going nuts. Kevin and Susan would be making out in the corner, Michael would be rolling about, high on fish tranquilizers, and Carl, Maria, and Phil would kick the crap out of George for half the movie. Then the 60 some odd voice actors from Unlimited show up, also in costume, and they all have a sexy party. Then, you would see strings attached to all the people in the movie, and the camera would pan up to the sky, where you can see a gigantic Bruce Timm dangling them all like marionette puppets, laughing to himself.

That would be funny... but with all the drugs, sex, and wonton violence, this DVD insert would get the coffee table book banned! :p And I want the opposite -- I want it to sell millions of copies!

I'm sure I don't know what you're talking about.
Nah, don't worry. Kramer's idea in that one episode of Seinfeld was for a coffee table book about coffee tables. So your coffee-book-table is still patentable! :p

Batman: Animated is one of my favorite books period. It's just so gorgeous. I would love to have a follow up book in the same vein taking more of an in depth look at the DCAU as a whole.

Who knows maybe we'll get lucky?

I'd like to take a moment to state that, coming off the success of Jess Nevin's League of Extraordinary Gentlemen annotated guides -- which were written by fans of the series -- I would have no problem revising and adapting my Watchtower website into a guide for the Justice League series.

:p

Is there a Superman Animated around? How about Teen Titans and Justice League?

You know what will be great! Is to have All those animated shows and more, like Batman Beyond and Static Shock, including Batman the Original Animated Series to be put into 1 BIG Book. I would definetly buy it!~! :anime:
