This was sort of a different style a Batman story. It's rare to see a story about a criminal who has no remorse for what they've done, but they decide they won't persue crime anymore due to the sole fact Batman will get them everytime.

Woah!

Who dug this talkback thread up? Nicely done! Love talking about the old issues :)

When I first read this story, I beginning to feel disenchanted with the comic series. Ty Templeton wasn't illustrating anymore...the stories seemed to be dealing with less fantastical characters...and I generally was starting to wonder if this new series would really outlast the original The Batman Adventures. It wouldn't, and certainly did take a bit of a dive in terms of quality in those last few issues.

But this story doesn't. It's just a different kind of tale, a more mature look, as you pointed out, at a character we rarely see in comics aimed at kids. That guy without remorse. Dagger Dixon makes a more eventful return later in the Gotham Adventures, which softens the blow a bit for those feeling like this issue isn't really a must-read.

Still not a favorite of mine, but definitely better than I originally gave it credit.

^^I didn't realize Dagger makes a return in Gotham Adventures. Maybe I'll come across that issue sometime down the road.

I also like rereading these old issues. They did a good job of staying true to the tv series, and some stories may have even surpassed the series at times in terms of creativity and story telling. One of the things I enjoy the most are the readers' comments at the end of each issue. It's nice reading about the excitement people had about the series when the episodes were first being shown. Plus it's cool seeing advertisements for NBA Jam and Mortal Kombat.
