Let's see after "Ties That Bind" Darkseid is still missing, presumed dead. Now what I'm wondering is, if he's not dead then where is he? I mean he's probably either very badly hurt. (No way he got out before that thing exploded and no way he survived without a scratch.) So what do you think happened to Darkseid? Is he dead? Is he off in space somewhere? Or do you have no idea? Anyway start predicting! :)

Well, since Darkseid is a god (with a little 'g'), I don't think he can be killed; however, he has probably been drifting in space, badly injured, since Brainiac's asteroid blew up with Darkseid in it in "Twilight".
However, I'm sure that Darkseid can automatically heal himself over time -- with the only caveat being that the more seriously he's injured, the longer it takes for him to recover.
I forsee him either hijacking a ship full of good samaritans and setting course for Apokolips, or just simply floating in the direction of Apokolips, where he'll land like a meteorite falling to Earth (simliar to what Kilowagg did in "Hearts and Minds"). Either way, he'll arrive back on Apokolips eventually, and take over again.
Heh, if this happens on-screen, we may even get to see him kill off the Hitler-wannabe in some terribly evil way!
For some reason, I can't see him on Earth, or in charge of the government conspiracy; but, if Bruce Timm & Co. find a cool, believable way to pull that scenario off, it will be cool to see!
As much as I like Darkseid, I'd rather not see him again on JLU, it would be redundant. What would happen? Him and Superman would fight again, Superman would want to kill him again, and something would stop him again.

When last we saw Darkseid he and his world was a shattered mess. A splitting image and shadow of it once was in all respects. His entire invasion force were swattered by Orion's Fleet in a battle. Darkseid himself was brutally beaten by Superman, a man who he himself claimed could have crushed with his bare hands back in "Apokolips Now..." His very child is captured within an Earth prison. And finally his own people lost faith in his power and knowledge. It was clear that he and his army were no longer a threat for the Justice League, not anymore. If he had returned to Apokolips it would have been in vain since its obvious his planet is under the close watch of the JLU, despite their lack of interference in the Civil War. He would have become a prisoner in his own palace, if you will. So now he is ceasing the oppertunity of being thought dead. Conquering the universe outward with his new and greatest weapon, Brainiac. I have a feeling that right now he is using his new toy to conquer planets one by one and force their people to join his army or die. When he has mustered enough strength and power he will return home and finish both Earth and New Genesis in one final swoop.

You know what I would like too see? An epic battle with Darkseid, where he defeats almost all the League, defeats Superman, and just when we think Darkseid has one, we here someone say, "But you still haven't faced ME yet!" And we shock-cut too...
THE FLASH!!!
Who proceeds to beat the living ---- out of Darkseid using punches that are thrown at near the speed of light, each one impacting with the force of an atom bomb, and Flash is throwing thousands of these a second. Then Flash goes into a spin, throws out one leg, and pummels Darkseid with mad kicks like some crazy battle top. Now THAT is Flash using his powers to his maximum capacity!

Well, if JLU is the last Bruce Timm & Co. DCAU show, then I have no doubts that the writers will pull out all the stops as the end draws near. Who's to say that Superman won't finally kill Darkseid after all?

Hmmm... You make excellent points! Your paragraph would also make a cool two-parter or three-parter on JLU... :p

The war was set off by Steppenwolf killing Highfather's wife, Darkseid seized the throne by murdering his mother in retaliation for her murdering Kalibak's mother (who he catually loved BTW. Weird huh?), many New Gods died during the war, etc.

Ah. Well, I never thought that everyone on New Genesis or Apokolips were gods -- only a small handful of them, such as Darkseid, Highfather, Orion, and Kalibak. But, even if they can die, then surely Darkseid and Highfather (and Hades and Zeus among the Old Gods) surely have to be the hardest of the bunch to kill.

LOL
If that happened I think I'd die a happy man. :p

But no... there is NO way Darkseid is dead and gone for good. The only person to mention the idea that he is dead is Batman at the end of Twilight and that is just to set up Supes' line. You'll notice that Darkseid is never refered to as dead in TTTB. He is only refered to as "missing". The ominous and scary question isn't WHETHER he will come back.. but how, when, ... and most importantly... "How much utter DESTRUCTION will surround his return?"

The "gods" of New Genesis and Apokolips are gods by name only and they CAN die. Hades, Zeus and all of the gods of greek mythology CAN'T die and they are infact gods.

Some people are always talking about finality to characters so I say let Darkseid stay dead its a good conclusion to him. Im tired of Darkseid anyway. Bring in his dad Yuga Khan to retake Apokalips give the League a new and even more powerful enemy.

Now that would be interesting....
